I liked that end for Ventress. One user theforce.net actually did a lot of work to make both the old and new clone wars material mesh and for the most part it does. He placed Obsession sometime after the Dathomir battle if I recall. Basically Dooku needs a servant again so he captures Ventress and tries to brainwash her, the result we see in the comic and she then leaves and becomes the bounty hunter we see in TCW. It's a bit iffy for some people I know, but it was felt to be the only way to keep the comic in the timeline. Now, it doesn't matter anymore (timeline isn't important lol) - personally I'm going with that guy's Clone Wars timeline since I like keeping both the new and old material in my personal headcanon.

Rumour from multiple sources is saying that the title is STAR WARS EPISODE VII: AN ANCIENT FEAR (Oh, clever word play on A NEW HOPE)...and that title is in reference to Von Sydow's character.

Yup. I'm fairly sure he's playing Darth Plagueis.

We had a discussion around the coffee machine just now (don't judge me!) about which director we would prefer/enjoyed/found most entertaining directing the New Star Wars movie. Don't get me wrong, Abrams is fine by me (though I hope he tones down his style over substance mantra), but many other directors would be great. Or hilarious. Like the Coen Brothers, or Wes Anderson.

My ideal candidate though would be del Toro, followed closely by Nolan I think.

I don't know if Nolan has enough whimsy and comedy to be a director of a main series movie...but of you want someone handling the job of one of the spinoff flicks, like Boba Fett's standalone movie....totally Nolan.

Del Toro would be sweet, and I'd wager we'd finally see some NEW aliens in the SW universe with him. But yeah, PACIFIC RIM has enough comedy and action for him to easily pull off a SW main line flick.

I'm not worried about Abrams because this is the type of film he grew up idolizing. Heck, the whole reason he worked with Lindelof on LOST was because he was wearing a SW t-shirt. And because of SUPER 8. SUPER 8 is (IMNSHO) a PERFECT homage to sci-fi family films from the 1970's-80's, and an homage in general to the films he grew up idolizing. If that's what he can do with an E.T.-like property, I have faith he'll be respectful of a SW franchise.

For down the line with Ep VIII and Ep IX, I'd love to see David Yates have a crack at it, or Alfonso Cuaron. I'd even go so far as to want to see Aronofsky do Ep IX.

My guess is you will see CGI, but JJ is old school enough that he might throw some Henson puppets in there.

So, I'm happy about the EU reboot (not much of it made much sense, with exceptions). I'm gonna miss KOTOR and that blue admiral. Then again, this might mean new SW Bioware games..... yes?

If it helps, I'm guessing Abu Dhabi ISN'T Tatooine...since shooting in Tunisia, where the original sets for Tatooine are still located and can be dusted off and used, is WAY cheaper than Abu Dahbi. It's also a VERY different style of desert condition in the United Arab Emerates, less piles of sand and more baked hardpan.

They are also shooting in Iceland and the rumour seems to feel it's Hoth...but more keen minded folk have suggested that it's Ilium (where lightsaber crystals are farmed when an apprentice crafts their sabers fresh)...which feels right, as if they wanted to duplicate Hoth, they'd just go to Norway again.

Hopefully - but it could just be a different "part" of Tattooine or some such. Still, here's to hoping it's not an overused location, or a "discount Tattooine" that is almost identical but not the same place. That would also suck. XD

Agree. I don't mind showing Tatooine briefly as a saga link, but as a planet-setting for the flick...no thanks. That's what CLONE WARS did right, they explored MANY new planets and never stayed beholden to the same ones from the OT.

Incidentally, I expect them to go a bit easy on the Old Republic stuff. They don't need to overwrite it really and SWTOR is still an income source. They're not likely to directly contradict lore that they want people to continue paying for.
