I'd like to point out something cool that was just canonized on THE CLONE WARS final season (THE LOST MISSIONS), Yoda spends three eps communing with Qui Gon's spirit (though not like eventually he, Ben, and Anakin do as blue Force Ghosts, because Qui Gon's training to do the thing was never complete, so he's just a voice), he goes to Dagobah (which is turns out is pure with the light side for the most part (except the cave, into which Yoda himself goes to face his demons...and actually sees flashes of Order 66 and doesn't understand them enough to know he is seeing a system-wide Clone betrayal), and he speaks with entities that Qui Gon apparently met in his life travels that live between the border of life and death...who train him to be ready to manifest his spirit after death, and this includes a visit to Moraban (Korriban) the Sith homeworld where he confronts, amongst other things, Darth Bane's crypt and speaks to him about the Rule of Two...but mostly it is established that a force ghost isn't just something that any Jedi can do, only a few Jedi in a generation have the power, purity of spirit required to do it. This ties together with Yoda telling Obi-Wan at the end of RotS that he has training for him on Tatooine, from Qui Gon. It also shows why Anakin was eventually able to become a Force Ghost, as when he was finally redeemed he accepted all his fear, anger and hate as a part of him (Yoda had to do this too) after he'd become good again and defeated the Emperor he is able to become one...my only query to that is who taught him? Or did he need to be taught it? I say that because my guess is that Obi-Wan didn't go traipsing off to Dagobah or Moraband after he'd settled into seclusion on Tatooine, so his training likely was more thought based?
Anyways, a cool little nugget, and though Frank Oz has passed away, gives me hope that we might see a Yoda Force Ghost in Ep VII and possibly even a Ewan McGregor one for Obi-Wan?

I don't really know much more than what is shown in the films but isn't it percievable that because of Anakins nature, a virgin birth pratically made out of metaclorion thingies, that he was always much closer to the force. Maybe the soul returned to where it came from.

Not having read any of the EU books I am quite happy that Disney have taken the axe to the whole thing. This way they're not bound by anything going forwards and are at the same time free to include the best ideas of the EU setting.

After a few days of initial upset, I'm starting to come around on the line of thinking that ditching the EU / rebooting it makes a whole whack of sense in the idea of a unified storytelling approach.
It means there won't be canon-wars anymore (or at least not among most folk)...but the other thing I like that I didn't immediately realize is that all the books / comics ect. going forward ARE/WILL BE considered officially canon / in continuity....so from here on out when I read books in the SW universe, they will have been vetted, assembled, and crafted with the movie/TV show continuity in mind...and that can only be a good thing.
But yeah, I think the best bit is that Chewie gets to live again.
With a few days to have properly thought about it, I really see why it was a good thing to give the Ep VII-IX writers such a clean slate to work with. They'll bring in aspects that they like, and ditch stuff that doesn't fit.
So here's me, being a little more circumspect about the whole thing.
Oh and RE: TCW: LOST MISSIONS

So we can jettison Kevin J. Anderson's work from the EU for his Dune work?

Until about 2025, when Disney announces it will reboot the entire franchise for its 50th anniversary on May 2027.
Search your feelings, you know this will happen.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Theorizing that one could poop within his own lifetime, Doctor Poopet led an elite group of scientists into the desert to develop a top secret project, known as QUANTUM POOP. Pressured to prove his theories or lose funding, Doctor Poopet, prematurely stepped into the Poop Accelerator and vanished. He awoke to find himself in the past, suffering from partial amnesia and facing a mirror image that was not his own. Fortunately, contact with his own bowels was made through brainwave transmissions, with Al the Poop Observer, who appeared in the form of a hologram that only Doctor Poopet could see and hear. Trapped in the past, Doctor Poopet finds himself pooping from life to life, pooping things right, that once went wrong and hoping each time, that his next poop will be the poop home.

I'd like to point out how much Von Sydow resembles Darth Plagueis...just sayin'

Ah so you think that's the story...Darth Plagueis survived his murder and now looks to reboot the Sith?

It might be.
The theory has always been that Plagueis was WAY more clever than Palpatine gave him credit for and though he really did die, his spirit survived and can be resurrected...and he wanted Palpatine to make his bid to domiate the galaxy as he knew his hot-headed apprentice would eventually flame out...and he's canon from the mention in SITH and his urn resided on Palpatine's shelf next to the mural of the Great Hyperspace War.
So all possible, and the rumour is that Driver is also playing a villain, could be a Sith apprentice in the Rule of Two.

You think John Boyega is gonna be Lando's son? That would be kind of a twist on expectations.

Im still guessing JJ is going to take a bit from the EU and do the whole, Jacen/Jaina thing but with different names. It's too easy for them to just rehash the whole Vader/Caedus descent into darkness trope.

No, Boyega is listed as filling the role that called for a Jedi Apprentice.

I don't think we'll see Jacen...but I think Daisy will be playing Jaina (or a facsimile name thereof)...and I think that Domnhall is probably playing Luke's son...and with that red hair...can Mara Jade be far behind?
The Jacen / Caedus thing won't go though. It's one of their more terrible plotlines, and is roundly ridiculed. It's really stupid to have another story where someone TRIES to embrace Dark Side tendencies only to fall anyways...
If the Sith are in this, I wager it will be Plagueis and he's going to be on a rampage the likes of which the galaxy has never seen. And I think Driver will be playing the Sith Apprentice.

Latest rumour about the "yet to be announced female character"....
Lupita N'uongo as Asajj Ventress (Frozen in Carbonite since the Clone Wars). Last time we saw Ventress in THE CLONE WARS, she had been abandoned by Dooku, saved by Obi-Wan, and mortally wounded by Anakin...in her supposed last moents, betrayed by the Sith she lets go of her hate and rage, and turns the the light...she is thought dead by both Anakin and Obi-Wan, but actually goes into a Sith trance to stay alive aboard the medical shuttle she was ushered away on, and the theory would be that she stayed alive long enough to freeze herself in carbonite to stay clear of the war and the Sith.
So if this is true and Lupita is in it (I hope she is, she's a great actor!), we might see Asajj Ventress as a Jedi as a part of the new Order under Luke...
This would be AWESOME news.
Also, the title is rumoured to be STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE ORDER OF THE JEDI.

I ll also be curious if they go with Leia being a Jedi now based on Luke telling her stuff in Ewok village. Or have her just be a polition.
Rumour is that Han Solo is now commander of the Republic (in a military way), and that Leia is Queen Regent.

Sorry, you're right... that's an EU bit (comics I think?) that happens after the Bariss Offee bit (mixed it into her TCW tale in my head)...but yeah, either way, Ventress being alive is very much a possibility/cool feature.
But yeah, as far as New Testament Canon is concerned she was last seen alive.
