@Quick Tidal, you appear to be a Star Wars die hard fan. I've never bothered to read the Expanded Universe, so it's very difficult for us to find an agreement. I'm sure you possess a lot of information I lack, but, I'm sorry, perhaps you must cool down; it's a work of fiction and you are not even the author!

Yes, you bring interesting points. I didn’t know Frank Herbert’s reaction to Star Wars and, frankly, I´m surprised, and not in a good way. Common themes don’t make for plagiarism. If Mr. Herbert and Mr. Lucas both took inspiration from The Hero’s Journey, why can’t the two of them coexist in the world? I know that was not your point, but I had to say it.

Is it true what you said about ancient Scotts? Then I retire my words. But now I need an explanation. What is the point in having as a queen an adolescent without experience and not a full adult? May be it´s for ritual purposes; say, they wanted the fertility and the real ruler was another person? Or am I just being ageist? I’m afraid I’m more prejudiced than I believed.

About the costume point, I have to say costumes speak about internal consistency as any other element of a fictional work. But you and D’rek have a point; it’s true that in the original trilogy Asian and European clothes are intermingled… but somehow in the prequels it looks as there were something unfitting… at least to me; it’s a subjective feeling and I can’t give you any reasoning for that… may be it was shocking to me when the same person wore stereotypical European princess clothes and a Manchu inspired outfit. OK, I must be a Liosan bigot. Not, seriously, I’m not using irony here.

And did I make a mistake with my English in my last words? I only wanted to say that Krull is not pretentious and I find the Prequel Trilogy is. Just a matter of personal taste.

I'm just happy to debate!

I like to think of the midichlorians as just an example of bad science on the part of the jedi. They've looked at cells that become affected by force use, and assumed that they are the cause of force ability, and not the other way around. So measuring their presence still gives a guide as to force ability, but for a different reason.

Also, Qui Gon and Obi Wan both seem to have a hazy notion of 'symbiosis' - only an hour or so after landing on Naboo, Obi Wan is explaining to Boss Nass that the Gungans have a symbiotic relationship with those on the surface. Which they don't, one lot living underwater and the others on the surface, on the other side of the planet! I don't think either would notice if the other was wiped out by droids or whatever. Even if there was some relationship between the two they wouldnt have been aware of it in the time it took to get underwater anyway. The jedi got it wrong about a lot of things during the prequels, blame the midichlorians on them!

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Well, I'm ambivalent about TLJ, but I'll risk it.

I hope you like cricket. Because if you don't now, you will.

The horror! No amount of entertainment value is worth ending up liking cricket!

OK yeah, sorry to bring up painful memories of yet another sport you guys invented that you are shit at. :)

Aaaaaaaand we now return you to your usual nerd rage:

Hey, cricket is awesome (as long as you're playing it drunk, with a bunch of drunk people, on a beach, with no understanding of the rules or tactics or intention of obtaining such).

Great video on the philosophy of star wars RE: TLJ. Interesting how he makes the point in the end that TLJ still reinforces the same issues with the force while going in a different direction. The juxtapostion between the council not interfering with Anakin, and Luke interfering with Ben Solo is quite interesting.

Benioff and Weiss to write and produce a new series of Star Wars films?

Well, who isn't these days. Seems like they're letting everyone have a go.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

It's gonna be about how both sides of the Star Civil War had complicated figures and shades of grey.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Depending on what sort of 'Lonely Island', it could be quite funny.

This is why SPLINTER IN THE MINDS EYE (the true sequel to ANH that existed before they decided to have a budget and shoot TESB) is so great. The sexual tension between Luke and Leia in that book is palpably hilarious when you know that they end up as brother and sister in the other timeline.

Heh.. I have mixed feelings about SPLINTER... read back when, it was kind of neat. Didn't age well tho', and not just because of the siblings thing.

It's like they reached into my brain and took out all the stuff I hated, put in all the stuff I wanted, and made the movie I wanted to see.

This. Is. PERFECT.
