Well, since I'm here all by myself, I'll spend some time lifting triangular weights and polishing my mustache!

That was.... weird. We just used to use eenie meenie miney mo, but none of us knew what the words meant.

Also, I'd love to know who TS thinks is signalling, because there are no teams and no scum, so who is there to signal to?

vote Liosan

Looks like a FM post to me. Town is a team, Also an odd post because TS was clearly joking about prior games and their illogical logic :p Was just checking in.. this post really caught my eye. Everything else is just spam. I'll be back within 8-10 hrs

Ok, thinking hat is on so <warning><warning><warning>
serious post ahead <warning><warning><warning>

This game strikes me as similar to the assassins in sengoku 3, except the FMs wants town just as dead as they want the other FMs dead. We need to be sharp like Obdi was in that game, spotting changes in posting style, times when they post etc.

That being said, our usual arguments about play style like low posting, being helpful, making lists, etc. don't really mean diddly squat in this game's scenario. We can't go off of things like "who is being helpful" and "who is cruising" necessarily, because the FMs being mini-factions unto themselves want to lynch other FMs, so they'll be right along with town trying to be helpful. Lynching someone because they are "acting scummy" won't make much sense in this game. They want to be the only one left, and they are actually in less personal danger the more whittled down the FMs get, so outside of seeing indications of someone posting differently, they won't really be distinguishable from town.

I think lynching will be important for town, so in no way is my previous post suggesting we don't lynch.

In fact, if you look at the mechanics:

Quote

Game mechanics:
This game has an unusual high amout of FMs. That is why there are some extra rules on how this role works:
The alt left behind dies, unless there is another FM jumping into that alt the very same night.
If two players target the same alt, they both jump into that alt and have to share it. If one of them decides to jump, but the other one doesn't, the person left behind dies. There are limits to how many players can be in one alt at once.

Not jumping is discouraged so they will be jumping every night they can (WCS is every night, although that seems overpowered IMO). I'm guessing staggered abilities to jump is a possibility, like they can choose their first night, but need to wait another night before doing it again?

Thing is, if they all jump on the same nights, they won't actually kill each other unless a bunch of them jump into the same person (and even then, they may just "fail" and not actually die).

So unless there are town killing roles, our only way to kill them is to lynch or get lucky in that one of them doesn't jump and gets killed by another.

We three kings of orient are
One on a motorbike
One in a car
One on a scooter
Pipping his hooter
Following yonder star Oh, star of wonder
Star of light
Sit on a box of dynamite
Light the fuse and off we go
Around the world
To Mexico

This pinged my radar. If an FM wanted to occupy someone he'd need to know as much about that person's posting habits as possible.

To add to this also I think we have three FM's running around. From the OP it says that 3 envelopes are given out, i'll find it in a second..

"Good evening, sir. I have the reports."
I reach into my briefcase and take out three big envelopes.
"Have you ever wondered what it would be like if the very best of our profession where set against each other?"
"Sir?"
He turns around.
"Wouldn't you like to see Sir Francis Walsingham plotting against Markus Wolf or Rameshwar Nath Kao?"
"With respect, Sir, they are all dead and Walsingham lived 400 years before Wolf or Kao."
He nods sadly.
"I want you to arrange it anyway."
My eyes widen.
"Get Mister Epistim to help you."

That's certainly possible. The balance would be similar to Sengoku with three, which worked out pretty well (in my humble opinion.)

My impression, just from this

Quote

This game has an unusual high amout of FMs.
was there would be more than that though.

15 players, and 3 was balanced, but that doesn't strike me as "unusually high" given we just had a game with 3. (Well, 2 FMs and one who kept puppets but didn't actually jump).

How many are there? Well, if there were 5 and they all jumped tonight (with one lynch) it would already be 5 vs 4 town. That seems crazy, but now suddenly lynching FMs and town becomes almost 50/50 and many subsequent jumps will be blocked or fucked up by the low numbers of targets (targeting FMs who jump to someone else for instance). It would be messy, and if town had killing roles that wiped out FMs before they jumped, the game could be over in 2 days and wild and wooly. If there are guards or FM BPs or something, it would get even hairier.

It wouldn't be as hairy, but it would be "unusually" high, if there were 4. Maybe the 3 you mention, as well as one of the people involved in that scene above. It could be messy (and wild to mod), but 4 isn't outside the realm of possibility

Duh.

Actually, even in the 5 scenario, some would probably choose to jump in an alt being vacated by another FM, which means they would fail. We've had crazier game balances than this anyways.

I'm rambling because this is all off the top of my head. Maybe I'll be less lazy later and actually crunch out scenarios.

Other than Sengoku, three would be an unusually high number of FM's. If you go crazier with 4 or 5 then that'd mean other roles would be vamped up. If this was the case then I'd reckon it go higher than TDMi 7. As it stands I think there'll be a few roles out there to counter the FM's.

Wtf? I have never heard this one below but it got so crazy I thought i'd share...

Waltzing Matilda
Who fuckin' killed her?
Lying in the grass with a bullet up her arse
And his balls must be sore
Coz he caught them on the roll-a-door
Who'll come a waltzing Matilda with me?

You're a strange cat, OE.

There once was an alt named Fener
Who was put into jail for a year
for acts rude and obscene
on the very 1st green
next to a sign that said "Enter-course here"

Naughty Fener! Was he with a Sheep? That is a common theme. Maybe he'll tell us all about it!!

Meanas what do you make of Galain asking about where I got my poetry from?

The ants went marching one by one, taboo, taboo,
The ants went marching one by one, taboo, taboo,
The ants went marching one by one,
The little boy stopped to do a wee
Taboo, tabaye, ta-bollocky-aye,
Ta-bollocky-aye,
Taboo.

The three envelopes in the story come before the idea of the warring spies though. I wouldn't count on that being the number of FMs. Personally I think there will be more, and some decent roles for town too, at least a killer and a finder.

I think it is safe to assume that there are at least three. I am sure someone a lot smarter than I can work out a WCS for town but the numbers should not be overly balanced so that town cannot win! Yes a finder is a must. judging from the OP..

Quote

Resolution order: guard --> find --> heal --> kill --> FM (some of these might not be in effect)

I am assuming at least one vig. Finder finds FM, Vig takes him out before he can jump! Yet that would mean the finder would have to reveal leaving him open to attack by the FM's. So I think healer would come into play as well. Healer stays silent, heals finder sorted!

@OE

I'm not sure. I just re-read your first "poetry" posts, and it seems relatively apparent that you're quoting from memory and not "getting" them from anywhere except your brain.
It could be suspicious as you say. He was making fun of Spite's haiku and my limericks, too. but he only asked you about yours (asking all three of us would have been REALLY suspicious).
