I guess if Ment comes back you guys can share or something? Unlike with some of the other games all of the debate is out in the open, so it's not too big of a deal if people swap out (especially at this stage).

Oh, I didn't realize he'd only been gone 24h. It will take me awhile to go thru the rules, get caught up and make a semi-intelligent move.
If you are fine with waiting a little bit longer (tapper indicated he'd be afk for a bit as well) then I'll do my best to learn the game and post sometime tonight. If Ment beats me to it then I'll just chalk it up to a learning experience and wait for next game.
Sound good?

You can say now what action you want to do next and Morgy will resolve it when it comes to your turn so we don't get too stuck on you.
I'm going to research, if that helps you choose.

If you aren't sure, you can never go wrong with exploring!
Giving the whole thread a read-through and keeping in mind how your/Ment's resources and income have changed as it has progressed may help, too.

I'm starting to get the hang of the game after reading thru the manual (about 2/3 of the way through it now). Should be able to post something later on this evening...for now, dinner with mme. CF.

The Leadership struggles in the Terran Directorate parliament continue unabated due to the tenuous minority position of the leading party. There is a daily challenge to the direction chosen by the governing Conservatrons, who insist that military spending should dominate the agenda despite the opposition Liberobotic party's pleas for more research. A particularly nasty back-and-forth in the House of Intergalactic Commons yesterday resulted in an election when a Conservatronic budget that was weak on research was not agreed upon by the Liberobotic party.
The citizens of the TD of course, being fed up with years of stagnating politics decided it was high time to elect the up-and-coming "tea party", who derive their name from an obscure historical reference to a once-powerful political party on Old Earth that led the planet's government to great prosperity long before the sundering. No one alive remembers the moniker's significance or origin, nor is it clear quite how prosperous the planet was because almost all pre-Sundering records were destroyed in the Sundering itself. Many believe that some ideas are simply too great to die.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now that you're all up to date on what's been going on backstage at TD headquarters, I shall make my move and I shall make it blindly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The new governing party of the Terran Directorate, whose focus is on the economy chooses to ally themselves temporarily with the liberobotics and research an improvement to planetside habitation. We shall research technology for Advanced Economy, thus beating other civilizations into this limited niche market and assuring that we have exclusive control over this valuable technology. We shall demonstrate to the populace that we are committed to this new direction by creating 1 cubic cube of jobs upon the advanced economy site of our homeworld.

The Hegemon has decided that automatisation is a good thing. If our scientists do not manage to deliver these updates on time, we will instead continue our course of peaceful exploration and mop up the last vestiges of Ancients that pirate the trade routes through the inner galaxy.
Provisional: research Advanced Robotics
(new storage: 2 money, 3 science, 3 materials)
If AR is all gone by the time my turn comes around: move both cruisers to 1D.

Hmm, that automation by the Hegemony makes it very tempting for me to move my ships into 1D before he does in order to gain a defensive advantage. It would be quite important because my Interceptors have the same level of initiative as his Cruisers, so being the 'defender' would really help. And I would quite like that tile...
Question: If I were to move my ships to 1D, would we respect Tapper's automation or allow him to make another choice?

The only thing is that moving the interceptor now, building a dreadnaught, and then moving it takes 3 actions instead of 2. But yes, then you'll be defender and get a bit of an advantage there. The other thing is that once the interceptor is there, you're showing that you are committed to that tile and Tapper may just not enter it at all, giving even better odds at beating the ancient and taking it. I'd say it's probably worth it.
I agree we should wait and let Tapper change his action if he wants to if that happens.

Advanced economy was a good one to grab before someone else, but unfortunately you aren't really in a position to use it much right now. So if you follow this up with exploring or taking more tiles with the advanced economy planets, it was a good move, but otherwise it might not have been worth it. Then again, there wasnt much else on the board and depriving someone else of getting it is definitely good.

OK, I think I will Move my interceptor to 1D. Let's see what Tapper does!
@CF: I was thinking that either that one or advanced labs was a good one for you to take. But you probably didn't have to get it straight away, because nobody else has anywhere near the science required to take it for themselves. So you could have explored once and then based your decision about which one to take on what sort of planets were available in the system you revealed. On the other hand, you're kind of short of money, so maybe it was better just to take it now to be sure. Also, now you've got Advanced Econ you can move a colony ship to that planet you needed it for (dunno what Morgy's policy on doing that automatically is).

CF said to move the cube in his action above, anyways. Given the selection of tech so far, I'd say Adv Economy was a better deal than Labs, and Economy is in high-demand, anyways. As for getting it now vs later, if he was sure he wanted it (and why not), jumping on it ASAP is good. After all, I could trade some minerals and have taken it if he didn't.

Ok. Thats something i was wondering. Does the colonization count as a move or can it happen anytime free of charge. Rules didn't seem too specific on that but i might have just misread.
And to be clear, I could have done any combo of actions there? I thought we kinda went around the board action by action until everyone is done. No need to backtrack or do-over cos of my noobishness. I'd just like to know for next time.
Re my move, yes my thouht was 90% to deprive others of advanced economy since one of them would have taken it next round and things might have gone too far out of balance against me.

Colonization is something you can do at any time on your turn, and it doesn't count as an action. You only have the three colony ships per turn though unless you use the influence action at some point. And no, you couldn't have done a combo of actions. D'rek gets to research two things at once because she is playing as the Hydran Progress.

Yup. If you look on the player boards, above the RES circle I have two icons so I can do double researches. Morgoth has two hexes above his EXP circle, so he can two double explores. Me, Tapper and Morgy only have two arrows above our MOV so we can only do two moves per move action, while you, STD and IH can do three.
