Sengoku Chapter 3 : Knives in the Dark

It is Day 4, 1 hour and 8 minutes are left at lynch.
12 players are left alive.
D'riss, Emurlahn, Fener, Karosis, Korvalain, Liosan, Meanas, Olar Ethil, Osseric, Sorrit, Spite, Tellan
7 votes to lynch, 6 to go to night.
3 Votes D'riss: Liosan, Sorrit, Osseric
7 Votes Osseric: Spite, Tellan, Korvalain, Karosis, D'riss, Emurlahn, Meanas
1 Vote Spite: Fener
Players not voting: Olar Ethil
The wounded man was barely conscious so no more than groaned as Tomuhisa applied the splint to his shattered leg.
There was a shout and a pounding of hooves. A rider flashed by where Tomuhisa kneeled next to the wounded man. “Hosokawa.” The scout hissed, and spurred his horse onwards.
The scouting party had spread out amongst the trees, keeping a wary eye for riders, and apparently they were coming. They had driven fairly deep into the Hosokawa lands until the riding accident had halted their sweep. And now the Hosokawa had found them.
Tomuhisa looked around and realized his horse had wandered. The rest of the party had ridden already, as he knew they must. He sighed, realizing he was done for.
Osseric (EmperorMagus) is dead. He was Tomuhisa, Lieutenant of the Amako clan.
Resolving Night.

The paymaster’s shed lay in darkness, a black swirling mist which seemed like a deeper hole in the blackness of the night.
The Goblin perched on the edge of the roof and dropped in through a narrow window that would have been sufficient to keep out a small child. Landing lightly on the earthen floor of the shed, it paused. A blade scraped free of a scabbard and the white skull of a demon emerged from the gloom, pausing as well.
The distance between them was less than a meter, but it was nearly as effective as a wall. Neither moved. Neither seemed to breath.
And that’s when the Shadow came to life. Boiling out from the back of the shed, it engulfed the two in their standoff. Everything became a blur of motion. Shadow attacked Demon, Demon parried and stabbed towards the Goblin. Goblin leapt into the air and performed a half flip to gather its legs under it. Pushing off of the ceiling it surged downward. The Demon spun and hammered at the Shadow with a double overhead blow. There was a scream, and suddenly where there had been shadow, a man coalesced. A long sword split its skull from the front, held by the demon, and a cruelly curved scythe pushed through his neck from behind, held by the Goblin.
Again, there was a pause, and the air fairly crackled with animosity. And a promise.
Slowly, both of the remaining combatants drew slowly backwards. The body of their third adversary slid noiselessly to the ground.
In moments, they were gone.
But the promise remained.
D’riss (Gnaw) is dead. He was Kage-za, the assassin.
It is now Day 5. 30 hours are left in the day.
10 players are left alive.
Emurlahn, Fener, Karosis, Korvalain, Liosan, Meanas, Olar Ethil, Sorrit, Spite, Tellan
6 votes to lynch, 5 to go to night.

Let's see. Osseric dead, and not an Ouchi. D'riss dead, and an assassin. Our only two NKs have been assassins. Is it just me, or did the night scene sound like two people were involved in D'riss death. It seems that way. With 3 assassins dead, I'd assume we would have to either be out of assassins, or down to 1, so I'm not sure what to make out of their being possibly two killers.
I'll dig up the quotes, but I'm still leaning towards Spite, and also Emurlahn. Emurlahn was one of those who brought up a low poster case out of nowhere, instead of voting for Galain. I know he eventually voted for Galain, but I think it was POSSIBLY and an attempt at just not wanting to be seen as going against the popular vote.
vote Emurlahn
But willing to change to Spite.

So seeing as Korbas was NK'd, and ended up being an assassin, I'm gonna go back to yesterday's lynch for information, seeing as I think it's high time we start a culture hunt! So one of the things that has my panties in a bunch is this:
Firstly, he said he'd be around to lay an extra vote if it was needed, but it wasn't him that hammered Galain, it was Meanas.
Secondly, he could have just laid the vote down. If it hadn't been needed, his vote would not have shown on the lynch list. If it was needed, then it would have.
I think Karosis was just trying to make it seem like he would vote Galain if it was necessary, but he didn't actually want to, so he made it seem like Meanas beat him to it, so as to lay the suspicion on Meanas rather than himself. So, I am thinking that Karosis is probably an Ouchi clan member.
Do we know if Captain would be the leader of a team? Gonna have to go look at some past games again, see if I can get some info there.

I think a member of any clan would know whether their leader is a general or a captain . It seems I'm right about him being an assassin.
I was waiting for someone to point this out, but I figured we could allow more time for people to make the same speculations on whether or not a captain was a leader. Like Osseric said, everyone IN a faction knows their leader, his in game name, rank, and alt name. No one in a faction should have needed to speculate on whether a captain was a leader or not, unless they just weren't paying attention. Perhaps we should target some of these players? Although, it's still highly possible that there is another explanation.
We've seen dead assassins, Ouchi, Amako, and Shogunate. No Hosokawa, at least not clearly Hosokawa, unless the shogunate are they. We're still shooting in the dark.

Interesting that you're still gunning for me, despite what can easily be a stalled culture hunt, considering the only real majority is the Hosokawa. I realized after I had already posted that my anger at Liosan would have me connected to Galain. Unfortunate. I want to lynch Liosan badly. Still.
Also interesting that you are still voting for when you believe I'm an assassin. Lots of strange logic you have there, Fener.

I did not mean to make you think I implied that you were an assassin. In fact, if we're down to one assassin, I'm not really too concerned with him. I think with 16 starting players, that 4 seems like to highest number of assassins possible. I also think we may have zero left. Either way, if it is only one, I don't think we have to worry about him NKing any of us. If he leaves the factions alone, they would be closer to ending the game by ignoring him, not wasting a lynch, and going for each others factions instead. If an assassins is left, and NKs any faction, then he'd just invite us to come after him.
In summary, I didn't mean to make you think I thought you were an assassin. I just thought it would be raiser to continue hunting for Ouchi based off the Galain lynch. Also, you said I was 'still' gunning for you, but this is the first time I voted for you. I'd much rather go after Spite, but no one else voted for him after I did last night, so I figured trying for you.
If you, or anyone else, has a better option, please let me know. It's not as if I'm dead positive that you're not in my faction, but everyone seems to be afraid to vote or make cases in fear of mistakingly hitting a team member, and I don't feel that's helping. We all have to take some risks to get anywhere.
What do you think about people believing that a captain was the possible leader of a faction?

I meant continuing to shoot for Ouchi, not me in particular. I think it might be better to lynch randomly today, tbh. Maybe Liosan (although people will assume I'm holding a grudge) I'll go anyone low content. I want to hit a Hokowoaasasawaawa. And we have no leads on them, so today would be the perfect day to get rid of some dead weight!
My reasoningbeing thus: 2 factions are down a man. 1 faction is down no one. So let's play majority here and even out. Most people will be from the two lower factions, so if they temporarily band together, they could (hopefully) even the playing field.
Therefore,

The undermined makes it sound like you're admitting to being Ouchi, which is what I already thought of you, and why I chose to vote you, and continue hunting Ouchi. I just think there's more links from the Galain lynch than the Osseric lynch. Also, if you're admitting to being Ouchi, then lynching you will yield much information. Anyone not Ouchi could feel safe voting you, and those not voting for you would help us identify other Ouchi. I really don't see another lynch yielding more information than yours, now especially.
If you thought the Amako and Ouchi clans could unite against the Hokosawa clan, then you'd need to identify a Hokosawa, unless you're suggesting that you think I'm Hokosawa. You're just suggesting we take a stab at someone, AND a lower poster at that. What information will we get from lynching a low poster, who we have no idea what faction they are, and once we do lynch them, where do we go from there? I'm sorry, but I can't really get behind a random stab at a low poster. I'd much rather go for someone that we can build off of, preferably a high poster, with connections to other posters.

I find the suggestion of a random lynch a bit strange, when a random lynch is almost as likely to hit your own faction as another. In saying that, Lio has contributed basically nothing except for a suggestion that there is a faceless man in this game, which was based purely on a meta-argument about gameplay and the use of bullet points, so I'm not completely against his lynch.
I personally would prefer a Korvalain lynch, because his spat with Osseric and then complete turn-around looks like distancing, his speculation on Captains feels like an attempt to look less powerful than he is, and Osseric pointing this out and suggesting he could be an assassin looks like a last ditch attempt to save his leader.
But I'm prepared to vote for either of them.

This sounds to me like a leader trying to tell his followers he isn't sure about the listed people so they need to show they know Tellan is a leader before he votes (and has other followers follow) and then lynches his own people. Of course, I find it hilarious when people whine I contribute nothing when there is literally no one here overnight to talk to except PS.

Tellan, I've been quietly rooting for you. I think you've been the most intelligent poster so far, but going for Korv based on a POSSIBLE distancing case between Osseric isn't as strong a case as Emurlahn, in my opinion. Unless you're saying that you're Ouchi, and you don't want to risk voting for Emurlahn, which I can respect. I actually might be willing to vote Korv, based on some other reasons that I won't go into until I decide to bring a case against him, but only if the bigger cases all lead to dead ends. After that, I could THEN be convinced to vote for a low poster, but I don't think we're there, yet.
What does everyone think the significance of a goblin and demon killing the assassin means? It doesn't sound like another assassin had anything to do with it. I have a theory, but I'm not ready to share it just yet.

I believe it is names of assassins, as well as descriptions/powers. I think that is how Japanese stories/myths worked, but I'm not an expert on the subject. I would assume it meant two other assassins went after Kage-Za last night. Putting Kage-Za into google brings up 'speak of the devil' and 'he of the shadows'. So... yea.
