Night One is over. No one died.

It is Day 2.

15 players are left alive.

D'riss, Emurlahn, Fener, Galain, Karosis, Korbas, Korvalain, Liosan, Meanas, Mockra, Olar Ethil, Osseric, Sorrit, Spite, Tellan

8 votes to lynch, 8 to go to night.

Ouchi came away from the morning audience with his captains slightly unsettled. Something had been off, the room seemed too stifling, the air had seemed...heavy somehow. Not with the moisture laden air of late summer, but more like a pressure one feels with an oncoming thunderstorm. The audience had accomplished little. The mood had been subdued amongst that group of strong willed men, a rare occurrence.

As he paused outside the door to the audience chamber, he felt eyes on him. He looked over to see one of his captains with a paper requiring his personal seal. He felt a brief pressure and a ringing in his ears. Suppressing a wince, he closed his eyes briefly in what he hoped looked more like someone in deep thought than in pain. Without mistake though, he would find himself with another one of those terrible headaches before long. The pressure of working behind the scenes against the Hosokawa was getting to be too much, he thought. At times he secretly hoped that someone would misstep so they could go to open war. No less pressure but much cleaner, somehow. The battlefield was where he longed to be, to honor his clan and punish those who sought their ruin.

The captain waited patiently, eyes bowed deferentially. Ouchi took the parchment and affixed his seal, waved the man away and stumped off towards his apartments. With luck, this would all come to a head soon, he thought. As his attendant slid open the doors to his apartments he paused and allowed a small smile. The pressure and ringing was gone, maybe he would escape the headache this time.

Guess Korv was wrong about the assassination contract. So what does everyone think the other scene was all about?

I come back to be able to post... and it's night.

For what its worth, I would have been on an Eloth train as well.

As it's night, I am not gonna reveal to much of my suspicions, but there was some good interaction and conclusions to draw from yesterday. I'll be back with time to post upon nights resolution.

So.... night is over???

Or maybe the assassins don't HAVE to take the contracts?

Wow, provisionals people. It was night all day

Had expected to see a bit more post lynch, but the long night sort of put a damper on things.I'll go reread through the bits pre/post lynch in a bit and see if anything sticks out.

Masamoto subsequently took control of Kyoto, and exiled Yoshitane, raising Ashikaga Yoshizumi to the post of shogun in his stead. Yoshizumi, however, was nothing more than Masamoto's puppet to control.
This widened the conflict, as the neighboring clans of the Hosokawa decided to tentatively grab for more land, power and control of their destinies.
This is where the situation stands. Three clans, the Hosokawa, the Ouchi and the Amako push and prod each other

Kunitomo felt the border patrol closing in on his position. He had thought to infiltrate the clan by slipping through the checkpoint as a silk merchant, but several over-dubious border agents had sniffed through his false premise almost immediately. He had barely made his escape, but his mule was lame and he had nowhere else to go.
Taking his short blade from his sash, his only regret was that he had failed the Shogun, his master, and the Ashikaga would be stricken even further by his failure. It had been the hope of his master that he could find support amongst the Western Clans, and to possibly stave the violence that was slowly brewing West of Kyoto. It wasn't to be, he had failed before he began. There was naught to be done but end it.
So he did. One crimson slash and his blood boiled across the bare stony ground.
Eloth (Azathmaster), Agent of the Ashikaga Shogunate is dead.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here. Eloth served the shogun. But the shogun is a puppet of Masamoto Hosokawa. So Eloth was a Hosokawa faction member?
If he's not then that sort of implies 4 factions of 3 members each.
Or, we stick with the 3 teams of four, with 3 unaligned assassins and a 4th who was working for the off-screen Shhogun.

Well, seeing as the OP says there are three clans pushing and prodding each other, it doesn't make sense for there to be 4 teams of 3, right?

It says earlier in the first thing you quoted:

Quote

It is the early 1500’s, in lands West of the Imperial capital, Kyoto. With the defeat of the Ashikaga in the East, it did not take much for Western clans to make their own strikes for power. Masamoto Hosokawa struck first. In a conflict between the Hosokawa and the Hatakeyama clan, shogun Yoshitane led troops against Masamoto.
The shogun was defeated.

The defeat of the Ashikaga. So isn't it weird that the Ashikaga were defeated, then an Ashikaga was set up as a puppet shogun?

Though the Ashikaga noted above is a puppet of Masomoto Hosokawa, I don't know if I think that Eloth was necessarily allied with the Hosokawa. Wouldn't his CF have shown him as being part of the Hosokawa clan?

I am thinking that if Eloth wasn't an assassin (and I still believe that he was), then he would have to have been an independent role. That being said, Shin said that there were the clans, and there were the assassins, he didn't make any mention of independent roles. Thus why I still believe that Eloth was an assassin.

All these Japanese names are hurting my brain.

Or the whole thing about hiring assassins was completely off base. And Eloth was supposed to bring them orders?? Could that be why no NKs?

VC state "down to two assassins" which would seem to imply at least 3 of them.

Where do you see down to 2 assassins? It says "more than 1 assassin".

That being said, I think you're probably right in saying there are at least 3 assassins. But given the game set up of 16 players with 3 clans, I subscribe to the idea that there were probably 3 teams of 4, and 4 assassins. I suppose Eloth could have been a contract runner. But from the scene that was posted right before night, there didn't seem to be anyone running the piece of paper. Someone dropped it off and it was picked up by someone with a mask (who I thought was an assassin). The whole no deaths on Night 1 has really thrown me though.

As for doing something useful, while I reach for the aspirin bottle, Korosis scared the crap out of me yesterday. He's way too fucking smart for our continued good health. I think I could easily be talked into just a "let's all lynch the bright person in the next 3 hours".

Yeah, you're right. I was thinking of the "draw for the remaining assassins." Theoretically, there could be just 2. Simple statistics says that the winning strat in that case is stay low and let the lynch mobs take out the other one. But I can't see only 2 being a good setup for the mod.

I would not appreciate that.
