Hey everyone

I had a talk with Isolde the other day. We felt that there wasn't a spot for free sketches and WIPs in the art subforumn longer than 10 minutes. Also I felt no homey snuggly place to just shoot the breeze and talk about general art stuffs (class, work commissions prices etc.). I thought this would be a great chance for a WIPs in general thread as well as general issues affecting life and art. if you have suggestions or requests just chuck em in here, if you have wips that took longer than 10 minutes just chuck em in here and if you see rodeos pants....maybe see a psychiatrist, but thats just me. :cry:/>/>

To get the ball rolling

The following I have never done before:

Malazan Mage

Malazan deity

Malazan comedian

I would like to decide on a new idea that depicts one or more of the above! so I'm gonna toy around with a few mage battles and post em here.

SIDE NOTE: google Nebezial, he is sick!

I kinda love it when D'rek unleashes her nerd wrath, as I knew she would here. Sorry innocent bystanders, but someone's gotta be the kindling.

Ofcourse, My guess was faaar off then. I thought mael for some obtuse reason. He only qualifies for two really. Feeling quite slow this week.

Shadowthrone sketchies on the way!

(I'd like to see the 'non'-artists take a crack at it too...this thread is not exclusive so give it a shot!)

(The urge to post a completely black page is just too strong. m-must, resist!)

Seriously speaking I'd like to paint a tiste woman again. Mother dark will be tricky as hell but I'll be happy to sketch something up.

Shadow?

kinda just kept throwing things in there till it looked like this...

I really just got carried away but shadowthrone by himself just looked so lonely.

I was even thinking of throwing in another character by the question mark. its a toss up
between apsalar and edgewalker. the two hounds would be Gear and shan I think...

@macros: its a long weekend for me. I hope you have a day off soon bud.

Those floppy ears could strike fear into the heart of any bosom!

The Dhenrabi, I remember from long ago. It always reminded me of a japanese thunder dragon

Yeah well Im pretty good at starting out messy concepts. Can never get a clean finish like some of the other artists here on the forum though.

I applaud your initiative Dolmen!

I confess to being into this mostly on account of the straw horse, and then I got tired of drawing straws. If I could have a superpower I think I'd want to be able to conjure straw horses.

I have a half day today, and I have two ideas in my head for Malazan mages (Malazan is in my autocorrect, how wonderful) and I have a tablet that I use for photoshopping stuff (mostly joke pictures for birthdays and the like)
The biggest end of my problem is I haven't done any drawing in years like 10+, and even at school I was average at best :)

first off, drawing the apple at school seems a lot easier my memory

it started out intending's be a big pile of rats with kulps hand sticking out trying to burn then via warren magic- but er\ then realised that really will need to work on my basics before tackling anything like that, and really need to get abetter understanding of how brushes and drawing-tooIs work in Photoshop
But still, here is a good hour of my life. I think I'm going take a half hour every evening and draw something, anything, if only to get a better understanding of the creative s ide of Photoshop.

Yessss! The threadage multitude grows!!!

@Isolde!: I think conjuring straw horses would be fun, at least for a little while. But soon you'd need to feed em to real horses to quell their numbers and that could get ugly once the straw horses decide to unionize and actually fight back.

@macros: tablets are tricky. Its all about mental inference really. My advice to get used to the feel of digital painting is to try start out with basic shapes like footballs or moranth munitions...also beer bottles :)

I like the idea behind kulps hand burning and surrounded by rats. Did you look at any rats while you drew that or was it from memory? The anatomy is pretty damn good and i like your decision to work on something daily.
