Yeah, I really do think the whole "men prefer skinny girls" thing is a myth. Most of the guys I know are happy to have a girl pay attention to them....any girl.
Hehe, I've always disliked skinny girls on principle as it just looks unnatural to me.
Fit on the other hand is a good thing if only because staying in shape is healthy for you...and in that vein (<---see what I did there?) just the fact that the girl/woman is keeping herself in healthy shape is definitely an attractive thing.

Bullshit. Girls can say nerdy and cute all thy want.But all they really mean is hot with glasses.
A guys 'hotness' is greatly (if not completely) determined by his outward confidence. So I guess it would be more accurate to say we want geeky but confident.
It's okay to have insecurities but constantly showing them to the world isn't going to help you get the girl. Unless it's one of those 'I can fix him' or 'I love wounded animal' types and you don't want them.
Physical appearance is always trumped by personality (unless you only intend something of the 'one night only' variety. Then it could go either way). Atleast that's how it is for me. I mean, you have seen Garrus, right? XD
The winning combo seems to be confidence with just a splash of "flawed so I can fix/help him." It worked for me and I am not a good looking person. I met my wife (who is way out of my league) at a time of my life when I was pretty happy with myself, but was running around up to no good.
