Wow, tell us how you really feel.
LOL
I liked it, as I already mentioned.
Though I feel it should be said that anyone who gives up after a pilot (which is usually shot at least a year out from the actual series and helps the creative team, once picked up, to know what to change) is not bothering to actually give the show a chance.
To each their own though.

I quite liked the first one too, I wouldn't hail it as the next best thing but I felt it was worth a watch!

Long time since I have posted on this forum, mostly because I am so far behind on reading Erikson. But that pilot was pretty bad. I'll be watching it mostly because my wife wants to see if it improves and our rule is we always watch TV together. But jebus, this was the epitome of a JJ Abrams suckfest: plot holes, gratuitous teen angst, no regard at all for even rudimentary science (where's the diesel engines, where's steam power), one guy killing 14 others in a sword fight (partly thanks to one shot from a crossbow but still), this ridiculous flash drive/amulet nonsense, not to mention the mysterious woman who booted up her PC at the end of the show - they'll have a half-ass explanation for that in season 3.

Err, it's mainly Eric Kripke (SUPERNATURAL), JJ is only an executive producer. Kripke is showrunner.

Ye gods, I expect better out of Kripke than this. Supernatural had a pretty well-defined universe, well at least for the first 5 seasons. Not to mention far better characters.

I enjoyed the pilot (it seems like some didn't), but episode 2 actually impressed me way more. I think the acting (Giancarlo Esposito and Billy Burke were Spot on form!) was really good (except Tracy Spiradakos who needs to step her game up, she's not a great actor), and this episode didn't skimp on blood and violence (which was nice after the fairly bloodless pilot) and some of the choices (like the fact that killing people is sometimes required, up to and including by the heroine, in such a world). Some interesting (though not altogether surprising) events occurred. The recasting of Elizabeth Mitchell as the mother (the original pilot had a different actor) was a GREAT idea...as she is a really solid actor and it was nice to see the flashback scenes with her. I'm also interested by what Monroe has on her that he keeps her prisoner, and also who Randall is. It's also nice to know that the Militia's (at least not the Monroe Republic) aren't the ones who turned the power off, so another faction is at work in this.
Anyways, I feel the 2nd ep stepped the game up a bit from the pilot.

I will say I liked how our young heroine turned the tables on Nate with that oh-no-I've-fallen-and-can't-get-up routine. That was class. But otherwise she can be really annoying. Hopefully between the actress and the writers, they figure this character out a little better. I'm still in until further notice.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Agreed. She's the one REALLY shaky variable on the show. She's acting around big names with good chops, and she really needs to step her game up.

She's done lot of TV.
Most recently notable, She was a pureblood werewolf named Brynn on the US version of BEING HUMAN....which is a role she was good in, and why her turn so far on REVOLUTION has surprised me as poor.

An interesting piece and it's kind of spot on for me so far....cautiously optimistic.

Episode 3 of REVOLUTION and the show is starting to fire on a lot of cylinders. A REALLY solid ep. Characters are getting fuller depth, and the my7steries are deepening.
It was also picked up for a full season order today on the back of the performance of 2 eps.
I urge those that only watched the pilot so far to watch eps 2 and 3.

I have to say that episode 3, for me, was just adequate. I thought it was a tad predictable with revelations you could have seen coming a mile off. That's not always a bad thing, but it becomes annoying when it's made out to be this "big" thing.
I'm still mostly interested in the storyline behind the pendants.

Ep 3 was the best so far IMO. Anyone else catch the reference to The Stand?
I will say the Monroe militia's method of assaulting a fixed position leaves a lot to be desired.

Also, I want toknow what's in the Wasteland.

Yeah, no one is saying this is the BEST. SHOW. EVAR. yet...but it has potential to be something good. And that potential is already showing to me.

Agreed, a solid ep. Loved the insight we got into Neville's character pre-blackout...and the revelation about his son...I'll freely admit I did NOT see that coming. Well played Eric Kripke. Well played.
I really think this show has some serious potential. Twilight Mustache Dad and Gus Fring are stealing the show on each ep.

The Mrs has decided she's out, but she's left it up to me to watch eps 4 & 5 and convince her back.
Thing is...not sure I want to.

Finally watched the pilot. Average at best. The show lost me about fifteen minutes in at the first fight where people were being blown fifteen feet back when they got shot by crossbows or muskets. Absurd! Are there really directors, producers or whoever is in charge of such scenes who are no acquainted with basic physics?
I got excited when the big sword fight got set up but then I felt it was incredibly dull and slow for a fight in which one man dispatches fifteen others.

No offense Cause, but this is episodic TELEVISION. It's fiction on a saturday afternoon matinee scale. They amp these things up to make it more enjoyably. Of course it's over the top, but that's part of what makes it fun. It happens on nearly every TV show and nearly every film with sequences like this.
If you want realism, live your life.
If you want escapism, watch genre fiction.
Sorry dude, I just think that's a really obtuse complaint when the majority of TV amps these things into the unbelievable spectrum.
Do you also care that every show on TV seems to have NO ugly people? Nah, we let that slide because we'd rather watch beautiful people on our screens.
Again, it's escapist for a reason.
If the physics or logistics of a fight on TV bug you...I suspect you should not be watching TV.
And of course directors and producers know about physics...but they aren't about to constrain themselves to such things in an action show...that would be pretty boring for the watcher.
