I just beat this. Honestly despite its flaws I liked it. This is pretty much my first stealth game so not a lot to compare it to though. Low chaos, tried not to kill many people, other than all boys and the overseers with the organ grinders because fuck those those guys. To me the atmosphere and setting went a long ways towards making up for any gameplay flaws. I liked the world and would like to play in it more. It felt almost like Albion for grow ups.

I really fucking enjoyed this game. It was a lot of fun to play. There were some issues with the game, but they got a lot of things right as well. Some of the little things, like the way mana recharged some after a spell if you didn't cast another one. And that if it was blink you used, you'd get it all back. It meant you were free to blink around all the time as long as you give it a sec between jumps, but if you were using it to jump around in a fight or spam them to get away it cost you.

I also find I really like stealth games that include an element of the supernatural with your stealth powers. Because in a game like Dishonored, where you are going after people with lots of power, and eventually they know you're coming, it doesn't make much sense that you'd be able to get to them if you were normal. But when you're character can do things normal people can't, it makes much more sense. Especially when, as it is in Dishonored, they don't know what you can do. When you can approach from angles that should be impossible (like with blink or possession), when you literally visually melt into the shadows so guards can't see you (ala Garrett, from Thief) it is much more believable.
"These shadows don't look thick enough for me to not be seen when a guard is looking directly at me, and if they are, then they really should light them", but those shadows aren't thick enough, unless you're you, so they don't normally need to light them.
"They know I am coming to assassinate them in this fortress, why is there a way in that doesn't have a dozen guards at it", well there isn't, at least not a way in that should be physically possible, as normal people can't get over two stories of blank wall in an instant and can't fit trough 5 inch drainpipes.

I do still like other ones, like Hitman (technology can fill in for supernatural a bit though), I just like the extra believability that comes with the supernatural ones. That's a weird sentence to write :p

Writing this reminded me of the following picture :p (note; I do enjoy the Ass Creed games, but they are only sort of vaguely stealth games)

I just stared playing the Knife of Dunwall DLC after playing the main story and LOVING it. I actually prefer it to Assassin's Creed somewhat, as it basically gives you a list of people to kill, whereas in AC there is emphasis upon renovating the villa and so on (talking about AC2 there). Though I agree that making the game so simple also makes it overly linear, I thoroughly enjoyed the game. I went high chaos, though, and I will say this-it is TOO DAMNED EASY to just storm your way through missions, murdering everything in sight. As soon as I ran out of sleep darts, out came the pistol and bam bam bam. Lazy? Yes :)

So in the DLC I'm endeavoring for a more stealthy run, and so far, so good.

(As for complaints about the Outsider, I don't see what the problem is vis-a-vis his place in the game. He explicitly states that he takes interest in individuals of note, grants them his power and then steps back and sees how they go from there. He isn't meant to have an active role in the plot-your morality is entirely up to you. Though having a binary choice for 99% of the game was annoying.)
Suck it Errant!

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.
