They are releasing this in the middle of October? That's actually pretty brave of them. I would have expected something like an August or September release, this being a new IP and concept being unconventional. They are throwing this game in with the big boys to see if it will sink or swim. Either they are very confident in the game or they don't care.

what "big boys"?

please name me a triple A game aside of Dishonored that HASN'T been moved up to a 2013 release yet.

the only One I could think of is Firaxis' Xcom, and it's not like they'll be competing in the same genre or anything.

with rumours of this E3 being the unveiling of next gen consoles, just about every major game packed up its release to 2013.

Also, this game comes out a day before my birthday, which is awesome.

GUILD WARS 2, BABY

STILL 2012
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Just looked up the list of big video games releases on wikipedia and I admit there's not as much going on as I thought. July to september actually looks busier, but still:

http://en.wikipedia....in_video_gaming

In october you have Resident Evil 6, X-com, MOH: Warfighter and Assassins Creed. Maybe some more games that haven't gotten a precise date yet. Resident Evil could very well overshadow Dishonored if it isn't another complete clusterfuck. Lets wait and see. If Dishonored really does live up to its expectations and Bethesda gives it a good push in the media it could go on to become this years surprise smash hit. There's not a lot of competition except for the old franchises like Creed and Halo.

If it comes down to a choice of where I want to spend my money I would probably chose to buy Farcry 3 or Borderlands 2 during September rather than putting 50 euro on an untested IP.

Farcry 3's looking more and more like a scripted linear mess, despite the cool first-person cover and sliding mechanics. unless they show some genuinely open-worl gameplay at E3, my interest in it will continue its steady plunge.

Borderlands is a co-op game.

Dishonored is a game from the people who made Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis, Thief, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, with the art director of Half-Life 2 to boot. Every interview with devs is about making an immersive simulator, not just a run-of-the-mill shooter. THis game has its own niche, and its what all the Deus Ex fans will be looking for. The only game that would be directly competing with dishonored for its primary target audience would be Bioshock: Infinite, which has been delayed to 2013.

AssCreed what? I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of Ubisoft being dicks to PC gamers as usual. Have they announced how long their PC release delay will be this time yet?

Pretty sure M$ and $ony have outright stated we won't be seeing the next gen at this E3, so dunno what's up with the devs. Besides which, they'd be better of releasing THIS year if the new consoles do get announced, unless they're planning on releasing crappy ports to the next gen and are ASSUMING the consoles will be out in time for their release date. I mean, seriously?

Other than that, yeah, Dishonored is probably one of the only games worth looking at this year. This year is a Movie Year. Next year will be a Game Year again. XD

Hmmm... I thought it was different because it's titled "E3 2012 Exclusive Gameplay Trailer". A neg rep I am deserving of, please wash away my shame with -1.

The video is too awesome for neg rep, even if it's been posted before.

HOLY SHIT! Just watched a game play demo of Dishonored. My interest is more then piqued! This game (based on the demo) looks insane!

Estimated game length--people that rush through --12 hours.

People who take their time -24 hours.

I expect for those who decide to mess around with diff. power combos, and go around exploring every nook, one playthrough will be closer to 30 hours.

given most levels are supposed to have 6+ methods of copmpletion, we're looking at a lot of replayability.

Well if they hadn't practically sold it to me before, they would have now! >.<

I can see myself becoming addicted to 'Blink', however. I love all kinds of flash-step powers and abilities; they're just insanely cool. The AI on what appears to be 'normal' difficulty is quite blind, I thought. Though it's hard to tell from the first-person perspective, and I don't mind too much that they let you see a bit more than you perhaps should be able to. Still, guaranteed non-lethal ways to take down ALL main targets? AWESOME. Melee based on blocking and counter-attacking? AWESOME. Great verticality, and from a first-person perspective it actually doesn't look too bad? AWESOME.

The only negative I took away from that was that the levels feel a bit too much like they were designed for the player to move through. I guess that's hard to get around (they are, after all XD) but it really felt like it had been set up to allow the player to hop around on different layers. Ah well.

Oh, and the courtesan standing up after she'd been shot with the sleep dart, only to fall back down asleep a few seconds later. Possibly just a build-stage thing, but that is one of those animation transitions that is ALWAYS left out. The game always goes "reset to default pose" -> "initiate 'has been drugged' animation"; there's never a variety of those animations that run based on what state the NPC is currently in, unfortunately. Though I imagine that would be quite a bit of work, it would HUGELY aid in immersion and so forth...

But yes. All around AWESOME! :)

This game can't be released to soon for my sake, as far as I can see, it's besides Halo the only game this autumn/winter with a exciting world (GW2 dos not cont since it's an mmo).

GW2 does count. So does X-Com: Enemy Unknown. And Borderlands 2.
Monster Hunter World Iceborne: It's like hunting monsters, but on crack, but the monsters are also on crack.

Borderlands 2 may be fun, but the first one was pretty boring if I didn't play with friends and X-Com.. I don't know about that one, guess time will tell.

If you didn't play Borderlands with friends, you were missing the point :D
