@Ment- Meant to put together, and probably will now that I've graduated and have free time again. Aside from weekly night class, and med school interviews, freedom is fantastic. But in terms of the game, I was thinking about it recently, so I'll try to put it together and get it run in a few months.

nice, nice. So, waht part of Illiad would you like to discuss?

We still have to have that Night 1 discussion of the Aeneid. JA NKed in Aliens 2.0 when we started talking about that.

What a Hero

Quote

Richard Rahl

Richard Rahl is introduced to the series as Richard Cypher, an adopted son of George Cypher and the younger stepbrother of Michael Cypher. He learns that his real father is named Darken Rahl (in the television series, Rahl is Richard's brother). He has 3 known siblings: 2 half brothers and 1 half sister. He grew up as a woods guide in Westland and as a friend of the wizard Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander. Over the course of the series, he learns more of his heritage and his gift, facilitating his role as the Seeker of Truth and the master of D'Hara. Throughout the series he also grows and learns a lot of High D'Haran, the language of ancient D'Hara. He reads the Journal of Kolo to understand and learn this language. Richard is described as having grey eyes (brown in the television series), a piercing raptor-like gaze, dark hair and a tall muscular form. In Debt of the Bones it reveals that Richard's gray eyes come from his mother. It has been quoted by several women in the book that he is the most handsome man they have ever seen. Richard is in love with Kahlan Amnell and sees her as the only reason he lives.

yup, I do remember that too, at some point we'll have to get to it. In terms of the Iliad, I was watching Troy last week, and decided that while Helen was hot, she definately wasn't worth 1000 ships.

But would you hit it with the might of 1000 ships?

Kahlan leaned forward and kissed him. His arms returned to her. She playfully pulled him back down on top of her.

"So, how does it feel being married to the Mother Confessor herself?"

He slipped onto an elbow beside her and gazed down into her eyes. "Wonderful," he murmured. "Wonderful and inspiring. And tiring." With a gentle finger he traced the line of her jaw. "And how does it feel being married to the Lord Rahl?"

A throaty laugh burbled up. "Sticky."

Richard leaned to the side, looking behind the short wall.

His raptorlike gaze briefly swept the sky. His scrutiny of the narrow passageways among the jumble of drab, square buildings all around was more meticulous.

The buildings on this side of the village, such as the spirit house, were used for various communal purposes. Some were used only by the elders as sanctuaries of sorts. Some were used by hunters in rites before a long hunt. No man ever crossed the threshold of the women's buildings.

Here, too, the dead were prepared for their funeral ceremony. The Mud People buried their dead.

Using wood for funeral pyres was impractical; wood of any quantity was distant, and therefore precious. Wood for cook fires was supplemented with dried dung but more often with billets of tightly wound dried grass. Bonfires, such as the ones the night before at their wedding ceremony, were a rare and wondrous treat.

With no one living in any of the surrounding buildings, this part of the village had an empty, otherworldly feel to it. The drums and boldas added their preternatural influence to the mood among the deep shadows. The drifting voices made the empty streets seem haunted. Bold slashes of sunlight slanting in rendered the deep shade beyond nearly impenetrable.

Still studying those shadows, Richard gestured behind. Kahlan glanced over the wall.

In the midst of scattered feathers fluttering in the cold breeze lay the bloody carcass of a chicken.

Go visible Obdi.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

yeah, I'd agree. That tv miniseries was a fun one.

@Obdi- the might of at least 1000 ships, provided that an additional 1000 ships wouldn't come and try to conquer me.

Well this takes longer than expected

Page 9 done, getting there. I just want to point out, that I have seen a few posts from Silencer where he jokingly hints at being a killer, or make joking threats to players. I can't remember where the first ones were, but I just saw this one:

that's been many an epitaph

Of course, when I AM scum, the amount of times I've chosen a target based on who is pushing me on-thread... :(

@Stalker - secret powers? Never! D:

I can't say that is "scummy" per say, but I always get the feeling he's doing this to point it out after the game and laugh at us.
