From my position behind the bar I could see the crowd spilling in from outside, garments dripping water from the stormy weather. I glanced at my watch, noting the position of the hands. 1:45. Almost closing time.

One of them approached the bar, explaining that the storm was keeping them from getting home, and they were worried of freezing to death out in the cold.

Fuck me, I thought, guess I'll be here all night.

Not knowing when anyone joined lately (the last 2 years ) I don't know, but I have the impression that for a whole group of players (twelve, ansible, tats, lizra) it was a matter of when they signed up and which game needed numbers and preference and just whimsical mods that decided the game in which they play
