Hopefully January runoffs in Georgia for control of the Senate will prevent McConnell from going scorched earth / salt the fields before Biden comes into office. Then again, maybe McConnell could blame it on Trump....

If COVID-19 relief to save the economy depends on Democrats winning the Senate in Georgia... at the very least a lot of money would pour into the race. Not sure how much good that will do---not clear how much it helped in the many races that were lost in spite of a massive spending advantage for the Democratic candidates. But the people of Georgia might be motivated to vote. (Unless McConnell pretends he'll be good until after the election, and they buy it....)

'Lou Dobbs demands Republicans "surround" Philadelphia and exert a "demanding presence"

DOBBS: Philadelphia looks like a cesspool electorally. Why in the world wouldn't the Republicans surround that thing and, if you will, you know, at least apply a little -- what would you call it -- some sort of scent?

A lot of observation and -- and a real rigorous, demanding presence in those counting rooms and the -- the polls themselves? '

'A GOP-Linked 'Stop the Steal' Facebook Group [Was] Gaining Thousands of Members a Minute"

[...] The group was set up in the wake of repeated and false claims by Trump that the election is somehow being stolen by the Democrats, and in addition to disinformation, it features calls for violence.

"Grab your guns, the second amendment is not about hunting, and how many bullets you need it about taking down a tyrannical government," one user wrote, adding, "I will fight to the death for every American."

Another said: "My guns are ready, all 15 assault rifles I own that I won't be giving up."

In response to a post about the debunked SharpieGate conspiracy, one user said: "Guns out."

Another member said: "Believe it or not I know many who stocked up on guns ammo myself included I don't know what the future holds we can just pray to God that Trump will prevail in the end."

Dozens of members advocated for "civil war" to resolve the situation.

And those members advocating for an armed response are now being directed to a real-world event by the group's administrators.

"We will be sharing the locations where the vote counts will be happening in the contested states," an event page organized by the group's administrators said. "If you can't make it to any of those locations, we encourage you to organize a local rally to demand transparency and to count the LEGAL votes."

The event is due to take place on Saturday and thousands of members have already confirmed their attendance despite the unknown location.

[...] When new members join they are asked if they have signed up for updates from a companion website, "in the event that social media censors this group."'

'Meet the MAGA Clowns Soliciting Cash Off "Stop the Steal" Panic

A Facebook group aimed at quashing a Biden victory gained more than 360,000 members within the first two days of its existence, before Facebook appeared to ban the group Thursday afternoon. People associated with the page have written for Breitbart, been named in federal cases over a "Build The Wall" scam, and registered the website "transracialism.com."

The group was also soliciting donations.

[...] "Stop the Steal" (a slogan pioneered by GOP "dirty trickster" Roger Stone in 2016, when Trump's chances briefly flickered) [...]

[...] Among the group's administrators were two Breitbart alumni recently hit with warrants in a bust over a half-baked border wall scheme that led to criminal charges against former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. [...]

[...] Stockton and Lawrence recently returned to public consciousness when they were served warrants (albeit no charges) related to "We Build The Wall," an alleged scam that raised tens of millions from donors who wanted the group to build a wall along the U.S.'s southern border. We Build The Wall's leader, Steve Bannon, was charged with fraud in relation to the campaign. [...]

[...] Multiple members demanded not a recount, but an entire new election, asking whether the country could be compelled to go cast their ballots a second time, just to be safe.

Some advertised new in-person rallies including, bafflingly, a pro-Trump truck caravan in the solidly blue state of California. And some called for armed rebellion, with one asking "IF they give this to Joe, how do we go about overthrowing the government?"

Facebook deleted the page on Thursday.'

'Nevada Election Official: I’m "Concerned for the Safety of My Staff"

[...] in Nevada’s largest and heavily Democratic county [...]

“We are putting measures into place to make sure that we have the security that is necessary. We are going to begin to monitor the vehicles as they come in.” Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was leading President Trump by about 11,400 votes as of 2 p.m. Thursday. Gloria added that the only instance of voter fraud he’s seen is a Trump voter who attempted to cast two ballots. Dozens of Trump supporters demonstrated outside Clark County election headquarters on Wednesday evening as part of a #StopTheSteal protest, and the Trump campaign filed a lawsuit to stop the counting of mail-in ballots in the county.'

Nevada: After a recent update, Biden still leads here by 11,438 votes. Although about 140,000 late-arriving mail ballots or provisional ballots have yet to be counted, these ballots are expected to lean Democratic. Clark County (home of Las Vegas), where 90 percent of the outstanding ballots are, will release its next update on Friday and should have the bulk of the counting done this weekend.

From Nate Silver: Georgia: Trump currently leads here by a razor-thin margin (12,768 votes) with 47,277 ballots left to count. Most of those are expected to be counted today, but at least one county (Chatham, where about 17,000 ballots are outstanding) says it will need until tomorrow. So whether we’ll get a projection here later today is murky, too.

So you're saying there's a chance....

Honestly, this stuff is fun and all that it is close (not really, kind of sad and embarrassing but you know how we do). But, really, SCOTUS could come along and give a snide little smile and wipe it all away with some very rational sounding legalese that is actual bullshit and that'd set off a firestorm across the nation.

Three cheers for stability!

How long until Trump tries to speak to the nation as the sitting President to allege election fraud?

He spent months telling his supporters not to vote by mail and now he's alleging fraud because a lot more votes by mail are for his opponent.

How stupid are his supporters that this doesn't register with them?

His poll army have to use binoculars to view the ongoing count because they are kept so far away from the area. And I think he said something about secret count rooms.

Given the way Trump's behaving now, we might be in the unfortunate position of watching a sitting US President have a breakdown. Which is very disturbing indeed. If he does actually lose, I would bet a lot on the GOP turning on him in a big way, and doing their level best to disabuse everyone of the idea that they spent 4 years fawning over him and his every whim.

If he carries on the way he is, and he's probably only going to get worse as the situation looks more dire for him, they will want to distance themselves from him in a big way.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. I am guessing georgia will need a recount? The difference regardless who wins will be thin.

God I hope Biden wins georgia, arizona and PA. Needs to be a stronger messsage than just 270 ideally

Yeah, GA will likely get a recount, and it likely won't change much.

PA, GA, AZ, and NV will put Biden over 300.

I'm not seeing the same numbers you all are posting. Georgia looks pretty much done with Trump still up 2,000+ votes.... Pennsylvania is edging closer and closer to 99% with Trump still up ~50,000.

I don't know. I don't think it's going to happen. It'd be too un-2020 like.

You have to look at the number of ballots still out and where they're out. From 538:

Quote

According to CNN, Clayton County plans to release results from its 5,700 outstanding ballots by midnight. Biden won the last batch of Clayton votes 87 percent to 13 percent; if he wins the remainder by the same amount, he'd net about 4,300 votes. Trump's current Georgia lead is only 2,497 votes.

It's down to 1902 now, and not from Clayton.

It's a similar situation in PA. Biden's got this.

PS: Some PA election officials told MSNBC that based on the rate and percentages they've been seeing, they expect Biden to surpass Trump around 4 or 5am.
