However, there were four or five young people who seemed to be filling out provisional ballots. (While not social distancing... sigh.) Unfortunately they won't be counted on election day.

'Republicans filed a new lawsuit in Pennsylvania on Tuesday, and it is a window into the kind of postelection maneuvering that we could see both legally and politically should the election come down to the Keystone State.

[...] This latest lawsuit alleges that Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, has been contacting voters who have voted by mail and whose ballots have a defect (like a missing signature) to give the voters a chance to fix (or “cure”) the problem. Not all the counties are doing so, and a Republican candidate whose district includes Montgomery argues that, under the Supreme Court’s Bush v. Gore decision, it is a federal equal protection violation for some voters to be notified about curing their ballots and others not. They want the practice to stop and for ballots that were cured to not be counted.

[...] whether or not the practice of curing ballots violates state law is a question that should be directed to state courts, rather than federal court [but obviously they're betting Trump's Supreme Court will come through...].

[...]

But to say the claim is weak doesn’t mean that courts will necessarily reject it; we have seen some crazy court rulings these last few weeks. And perhaps the real endgame, should we be unfortunate enough for this to all come down to Pennsylvania, is not to get the courts to save Trump but instead to give the Pennsylvania Legislature an excuse to call the election failed and to try to appoint its own Trump slate of presidential electors.'

I would never bet on common sense; though I do hope to be proven wrong.

Gonna go for a swim just like 4 years ago. Guess we'll have a picture by the time I get back.

The Trump supporters driving around with flags has been on the news, and I can say that is something I have seen in my area.

I saw a truck where on the driver's side was flapping a "Trump 2020" flag, the other side (passenger's) was, get this, not the stars and stripes, but a Confederate flag. And the size of them. Both were big enough to fly at a state capital. And on this troll's back window of the cab was a large sticker/decal with the word "Redneck".

That was last Thursday. Then Sunday saw another truck, same deal except not trolling with the Confederate flag on this one and instead the gold 'ol stars and stripes. Don't you just love America?

Dang, on the commute this evening I saw another one of these 'displays' driving around. It being election day, this racist mouth breather decided to go all out. Trump 2020 flag [check] / Traditional American flag [check] / Two, yes two, of those "blue" American flags [check]. All of considerable size such that they could be flown patriotically at a proud boys militia/bugooloo, terrorist training camp complex.

Does anyone know what those blue American flags mean? Is that some dumbfuck, racist bullshit or something?

Thin Blue Line. It's an anti-BLM "I love the police" flag. (Basically a fascist flag.)

You mean the Thin Blue Line flags?

Posted Image

It's an allusion to 'The Thin Red Line', but for police. Mostly used to show 'support' for police in opposition to BLM and anti-police brutality movements.

Trump's winning in Indiana.

Still some time to go there though.

Rural Nevada is apparently coming out in force. And Trump seems to be ahead in Florida.

But Biden's internal exit polls are looking good in PA, WI, and several other states.

I figured it was some MAGA bullshit. Funny how these racists will go apoplectic when an organization like AIM flies the flag upside down to indicate a land being occupied or in distress, but they are all cool with desecrating the flag with some fascist bullshit.

'What is the Thin Blue Line? The phrase is borrowed from a military image of the 19th century, in which a "thin red line" of British troops ("redcoats") held off a Russian cavalry charge during the Crimean war [Kipling poem]. The first appearance of the Thin Blue Line dates back to the early 1900s when The United States Army marched into battle in their blue uniforms. Together, standing alongside, the soldiers formed a blue line, thus beginning the history we know today as the Thin Blue Line. The phrase "Thin Blue Line" was initially mentioned in a 1911 poem by Nels Dickmann Anderson. In the 1950s, the blue line was adopted by law enforcement professionals to represent their courage and sacrifice while protecting the American people.

[...] The Thin Blue Line embodies the unbreakable component of law enforcement standing as a safety barrier between the law-abiding citizens of America and the criminally inclined.'

https://www.flagsofv...%20Blue%20Line.

So... militarized police.

'I went into a public-'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
The publican 'e up an' sez, "We serve no red-coats here."
The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away" [...]

Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll.'

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Picked up some Buffalo Trace bourbon on the weekend. Bottle is sitting on the counter, waiting for this evening. Will be checking in on results sitting on my deck, probably watching the world burn, and doing my darnedest to drink to the bottom of that bottle.

Comfy slippers on feet, sweats and cozy sweater in full force relax mode, bourbon on ice in hand. See you on the other side. Might be from somewhere, in an undisclosed location in the Rocky Mountains, using burner phones and sketchy wifi access to post covert messages of the growing resistance. Wolverines!

Good job Indiana! Can always count on you!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Ugh, I just saw the animated New York Times clock hand move from Biden to Trump for Georgia.

Think I'm going to get up and pace for an hour while listening to an audiobook (and drinking a little...). Better Florida results should be in by then.

Not going to do this tonight.

Going to play some video games, go to bed early, get up and go to work tomorrow.

The world will still be here tomorrow.

Hopefully the world will still be here tomorrow.
