No. The anti Hillary Bernie supporters who vote for Trump will not give him the election.

The most common path to victory that people see for Trump is a record breaking turnout among white voters and no losing any GOP black and Hispanic voters from Romney. It's possible in a place like Ohio or Pennsylvania, but not likely (at this time, which could change as November approaches).
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

For whatever it's worth, if elected, Trump would not be the worst person ever elected US President. I think he might be bottom ten, but not bottom five.

Frankly, the idea of anti-Hillary, Bernie supporters actually voting Trump baffles me completely. My question encompasses those who might vote Independent, ruin their ballot or otherwise refuse to vote.

But yes I could see record-breaking turnout being an issue if it is confined to white voters only, though from the little attention I have payed to coverage of the election race thus far, I have generally seen it suggested that high turnout across the board will favour the Democrat party.

Out of interest, what's your worst 5 people to take office then, amph?

Lol, the BBC news coverage is showing the First Ladies speech now, they really were cheering for her Gumbo :D

EDIT: It's actually live, didn't realise that, so they are cheering her :p

Pretty good speech, I guess it helped that most of that crowd were always going to give her the rockstar treatment, atmosphere definitely helps. Never like all that 'greatest country on earth' crap from anyone, but you get it everywhere so it's par for the course, can't expect everyone to feel the same way as me about patriotism, unfortunately.

EDIT: Didn't see your last post Gumbo, didn't know what you meant by Warren, until now. The coverage here says it's live but it must be behind, no idea what they were chanting either.

EDIT 2: Just heard the chanting now, definitely 'we trusted you'. Just to clarify in case anyone is confused by the time lag, my comments about pretty good speech where aimed at the First Lady, only seeing Warren now.

It's either "we trusted you" or "beef gumbo stew". Their inflection is all off -- learn to emphasize the right words, dummies.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

It was "We trusted you", it sounded like just a few people. Pretty impressive voices to get through to the microphones over the cheering and the speech.

I really want some gumbo now......thanks

Did Warren just say Hillary and the Democrats want to get corruption out of elections????? Probably should have cut that after the email leaks, lol.

True, the coverage here, it only sounded like a very few people, must have some lungs on them.

God,it would have been so much better if it was 'beef gumbo stew' though :D

1) Andrew Jackson, 2) Andrew Johnson, 3) Woodrow Wilson, 4) James Buchanan, 5) Zachary Tyler

That's my list for worst people to be president - not the worst presidents in terms of job performance. I'd put Reagan in the bottom ten because he and his wife genuinely laughed at the AIDS crisis for years even as they covered up his increasingly visible struggle with Alzheimer's in office.

Bernie Or Bust people wanted her to "side" with him. They're the ones making all the useless noise/chants.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

My knowledge of American politicians does not extend very far, she is a Senator that's all I know. I figured that maybe she was some high up in the party political process, i.e. one of the people Sanders supporters blame for Bernie's loss. But I have no idea basically.

EDIT: So I was sort of right lol

Why were they insulting her? She looked pissed during it. I don't know a thing about that lady

She's very far left, similar to Bernie. They feel betrayed by her I assume.

I know nothing at all about Tyler or Buchanan, and can't say as I know all that much about the personal beliefs and opinions of the other 3 either. Wilson is the only one we ever learned much about in school, and that was mostly centred around the proposed creation of the League of Nations.

Personally, even ignoring pretty much anything else he did I'd place Truman near the bottom simply for his use of the atomic bomb and support for the creation of the state of Israel, but I don't want to derail the thread with historical politics.

EDIT: Tyler is just one of those names I know because it is great obscure answer for American presidents, and I like to have armoury of useless facts.

How great a fantasy it'd be if he drops an Independent bomb.

I'm guessing they've moved on again, I'm still seeing Warren here.

EDIT: Ok she just went off, sounded like Tom Petty on in the background, gotta love a bit of the Heartbreakers, even from an avowed metal head lol :D

Yeah I realised it must be about 3-5 minutes, fuck knows how they can call it live lol

EDIT: Bernie came on, I left the room for a couple of minutes, he was still saying thank you.

I wonder if his standing ovation will rival hers later this week.

If hers is louder and longer I'll actually be rather impressed, I haven't seen many crowds go that mental for a politician, as opposed to like a sportsman or musician or something. Impressive tbh.

I really like Michelle Obama's speech. My father follows American politics and I try not to, because Republicans be crazy. Anyways, he's watching the Democratic Convention on TV and Michelle Obama came on. I was rather impressed. I mean, by the end of it, I was like, "YEAH! I'll vote for Hillary! Come election day, I know what I'm going to mark on my ballot!" And then I was like, "Oh, right! I'm not American."

That's ok. I like my Prime Minster just fine.

And then, my dad goes, "Yeah. Of course she's a good speaker. She's got lawyer training."

God watching him speak, even the manner in which he has clearly been able to swallow what must have been a devastating defeat in the primaries and come out and deliver a speech like that, it's fucking depressing that Clinton is the best that Americans (and the world considering how important US foreign policy is) can hope for. I'll go back to Kanyemander's earlier comments, he's an actual decent human being :D

He's still speaking on my TV, I'm guessing he's actually finished from Gumbo's comment.
