Oh, this is fun:

https://www.motherjo...sort-last-year/

Quote

According to an “incident/investigation” report filed by the Doral, Florida, police department, on May 16, 2019, an officer was dispatched to the Trump National Doral Miami to deal with a “male in distress fearing for his life.” That man was Hyde. The report noted that Hyde explained to the police officer that “he was in fear for his life, was set up and that a hit man was out to get him. Mr. Hyde spoke about e-mails he sent that may have placed his life in jeopardy. Mr. Hyde explained several times that he was paranoid that someone was out to get him.”

The report stated that Hyde cited “a variety of different names, contacts and provided information in reference to why he felt his life was in danger.” After being taken into custody by the police, according to the report, “Mr. Hyde continued to act paranoid telling us not to stop next to certain vehicles…[H]e explained that he was scared due to several painting workers and landscape workers trying to do harm to him because they weren’t working. Additionally Mr. Hyde explained that his computer was being hacked by Secret Service. And then went on to further explain that the secret service [sic] was arrival [sic] on the premises watching him.”

It goes on. Also, the relevant links in that story do not quote the tweet he made about Kamala Harris when she dropped out, so to save y'all the annoyance that cause me, I googled it:

Charming character. You really get all the classy ones in US politics. Although the UK seems to be learning quickly how to be more like the US, so there is still hope.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Always fun to get new names in the impeachment scandal. We'll probably be seeing stuff like this all day on Twitter.

Articles being sent today. As I predicted, no later than January. The talk of holding the articles never made a whole lot of sense; it was just Democrats desperate to use whatever leverage they could think of, knowing that the trial in the Senate would probably be far from fair. It's just not worth much as leverage, though.

The comments on this tweet are crazy.

Wow, that turtle/man hybrid (Mitch McConnell) is so fucking ridiculous. Someone should tear off a piece of lettuce and place it in front of a mirror to get that asshole to take a look into one. Much gall he has to mention "short-termism" and "factional fever" by the democrats.

Lev Parnas States In Interview ‘Trump Knew Exactly What Was Going On’ And he brought MF'in RECEIPTS. Texts, emails, Payment slips ect. I mean, this was him 100% covering his own ass, but the splash back seems to have the added effect of helping your country with the truth...so that's good.

Anyone who wondered WHY Nunes was going so hard in conspiracy theory nonsense a few weeks back when all this was going down in the impeachment investigation? It's because he's implicated and he knew it and he had nothing to do but grandstand on debunked conspiracy theories and scream about he other side.

I mean, I knew that's what was likely going on, but to have the proof of it...is pretty sweet.

If Pelosi hadn't held up the articles of impeachment, the senate trial would already be concluded by now. There would have been no witnesses, and no support for witnesses. This new Lev Parnas evidence wouldn't have been included.

Again, she knows what she's doing.

Also, as revealed in recent days, more very damning information is coming out. I'm sure Pelosi was informed of this and knew this evidence was coming out soon, so it makes sense to delay delivering the articles of impeachment until most of this evidence that supports their case is in the public sphere. Also, it's smart to delay because she knows this impeachment is going to die the Senate, so the aim is probably to maximize damage to Trump's chances of wining votes to be re-elected in November.

The Senate trial would not be over because the Senate was in holiday recess. They just came back. I never said she didn’t know what she was doing; I said there was no benefit to holding the Articles indefinitely like people wanted her to. Also, the Parnas stuff is the tip of the iceberg. There is always going to be more evidence; we are still getting evidence that would have been beneficial to Mueller’s investigation. Honesty, this whole Ukraine scandal is just more of the same; it all goes back to Putin. He has been trying to weaken US support for Ukraine for a long time, and Manafort successfully lobbied the RNC to change the party platform on Ukraine before Trump even took office.

If the strategy was going to be delay, it would have been better to delay the vote than to delay handing over the Articles after the vote was taken. The former had a lot of justification. They could have continued to investigate while they waited for subpoena enforcement challenges to wind their way through the courts. The only reason they didn’t take that approach was because Pelosi encountered a great deal of resistance from people in her caucus who wanted to get on with it and pass the buck to the senate. They decided early on in the process that they were going to be done by the end of the year.

Disagree on your last point, but I'm not about to sit here and argue it with you as you've clearly made up your mind.

It's a matter of public record, so it doesn't really matter if you agree with it or not.

I finally got to watch the Parnas interview, or at least the parts that are available online. I have cable but my cable provider isn't listed on MSNBC's website so I can't watch the full episode and I can't find it anywhere.

Anyway, Parnas made it pretty clear that the Hyde stuff about stalking and assassination was a big nothingburger. I suppose its only real relevance is that it's another shady/unsavory person who bought his way into Trump's circle, and that Parnas was known to be in that circle. I doubt Hyde will win his congressional primary, much less the general election.

A strategy you believe is in play VS a different one is not a "matter of public record".

I am referring to statements that Pelosi and others in leadership (Schiff and Nadler especially) have made on the record. Their reasons for not wanting to delay are well-documented.

FBI just raided Hyde. I am kind of worried this will end up being a distraction and even something that could be portrayed as a vindication for Trump. There is probably nothing there—just a delusional drunk.

This is the bit I disagree with. Just to be clear.

What's to disagree with? What's better about delaying after they have voted and the role of the House is formally finished?

Still laughing at Trump Jr denying knowing Hyde after appearing in a photo op with the guy about a week ago.

Yeah, it's clear that they all know him, and the fact that they were still associating with him after the incident at Doral where he called the cops and said the secret service were after him and then he got involuntarily committed to a mental institution...whew. That says a lot. I just don't think it's likely that he actually had spies and hit men in Ukraine. What IS possible is that Trump believed he did, and that might have influenced his comment to Zelensky about how Yovanovitch was going to "go through some things". God, that comment still creeps me out. It's so mob-bossy, it just makes my skin crawl. But considering Hyde was spilling all this to Parnas, I'm just not sure that Hyde ever had contact with anyone closer to Trump than Parnas when it came to this spying/assassination stuff. Why would he tell Parnas about it if he had a better contact? idk, maybe I'm attributing too much rationality to a delusional drunk. Maybe he told everyone the same stuff.

idk if this was mentioned here, but Ukraine is doing its own investigation into the Hyde stuff. That was announced earlier today.
