The core issue is that a lot of people have no interest in getting themselves better informed. So they choose to take in anything that is bite size and easy to digest. Fox News offers them that: world events with all the nuance and grey areas sliced out and poured over with a big dose of populist rhetoric. People don't have to watch it, there is an on-off button and a channel switch on your TV, plus a world of alternative news sources across traditional media and the internet. Fox News panders to intellectual laziness, it did not create it.

I haven't looked into this but if women are benefiting you can make a safe guess that it is because a lot of the jobs are low paid and precarious and being filled by women with lots of family care commitments so they're being shafted by their employers! The same scenario as in the UK with the Tories saying employment stats are up but everyone is on zero hours contracts with no right to paid leave, pension contributions or sick leave.

It sounds like a pretty awesome step forward if it ever got real traction. And I like that she doesnt shy back from stating that it will cost taxpayers' money and capital investment, instead of pandering to the voter base that everything is unicorns and rainbows and market forces will sort all the world's problems.
