But yes, Romney is playing the aggressive card with the moderator, because that's what Republicans want. They'll say Obama is letting a debate moderator walk all over him.

If MSNBC is riding Obama and praising Romney we know who won the debate. The debate that had nearly ZERO TRUTH AND CONSISTENCY BY ROMNEY. Call him out on that bullshit. Somebody. Lehrer was terrible at moderating and Obama let Romney just lie without calling a spade a spade.

Okay I watched it. Did Jim Lehrer die five minutes in? HD is right, Romney really, genuinely departed from the reality of his entire campaign up to basically yesterday. And he even repeated the lie that his health plan continues to help people with preexisting conditions -- the one that his own campaign denied an hour later, and then went back and forth on -- and I think Obama laid out the truth on that one. Essentially I think what Romney had in terms of advantage was his ease with business-ese. So while he didn't really say much, he said it in a seemingly more knowing way. At least for the first 20 minutes or so, until education and healthcare came up, and his answers obviously went to hell. But I suppose ultimately he held his own on the surface level, against a near-totally passive Obama.

The answer at this point is not Jim Lehrer.

You need more than one so that they can back each other up and not get run over. You need more than one so that they aren't thinking about JUST moving on to the new topic and the minutes but actually following through with questions and asking pertinent questions at the right time.

The problem is that the voters who are as yet undecided cant be bothered to investigate further than what their tv tells them. Therefore, they won't know when a candidate lies, they won't know when attack ads lie, they just wont care. If you aren't going to vote and don't care, fine. But people who go out and vote the way their TV told them to piss me right off.

Sometimes you just have to shake your head in wonder. Why or how these people do not care we'll never know, but they're the electorate most likely to swing elections one way or another, and they are stunningly uninformed and misinformed.

If you're talking about the undecideds on Hardball, the finance guy made a better point than the others; Obama didn't really address the questions about Dodd-Frank in the debate, and hasn't addressed them very well outside the debate either. And the woman who was confused about the 5-trillion-dollar tax break...hard to blame her, when you've got think tanks saying very different things about it. The others were mostly wimpy though.

@Terez: I saw a little of that group, and kinda loled at the guy who said "In today's society, you know, I get my news from the internet" and then "They're both good guys, both great candidates." They were basically all the epitome of low information voters.

Just about every Euro paper/news site I've seen proclaims Romney a clear winner and Obama's performance as a lacklustre and reluctant one. Some refer to Obama watching a lot of football on the flight to the debate instead of prepping, which is going to damage to Obama's image this side of the pond (not that it matters much, if we were allowed to vote it would still be a landslide).
Even if Romney gets fact checked to death, it will come way too late to reverse the initial opinion/view.
