I hope this won't turn anyone away from playing, but just so people have a heads up: This game is going to be balanced (town and scum starting numbers and abilities are equal in power), but not necessarily stable (things could go really downhill for either town or for scum very, very quickly). There's one big modification to the standard game mechanics, but it is still standard day-lynching and NAs. There will be a thorough explanation of the setup in the OP, nothing hidden, so it's not a CFUM game, but I suppose it is a little bit "experimental". There aren't any RIs, but it's not a TMDI 10 cluster-fest either.

The background, if anyone might be interested, is that at some point I was thinking up a Jaghut War on Death game, which turned into an Assail game, which got very complicated and so I then removed a bunch of elements from that and split what was left in two. Half the mechanics and all the themes became Espers (which is now no longer Assail/JWoD at all) and the other half of the mechanics became Ambience. "Ambience", the best synonym for "Modifiers" that I could find, will refer to variations on typical night actions - so for example if you were an Insane Finder, "Insane" would be the "Ambience" applied to the standard Finder role.

Reading that coupled with reading the last few pages of the previous mafia game have filled me with a little anxiety. I had forgotten how awesome some of you people were at this madness.

Don't worry, I've been genetically enhanced to provide balance to people who are actually good at mafia.
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

It has been a couple of years since I last played a game of mafia and I would be interested to try my hand once again. It does not have to be the next game if this is oversubscribed.

That has been a while indeed  Welcome back Lace.

Oh well, if you are going to need numbers for odd/even-ing, I can be in. If not, I can always do the odd euro-time vote count.
Damn these too interesting games.

Uh, yes, I definitely need you for odd/even-ing the numbers. And if anyone else joins I still do somehow.

You're in. Just accept it.

4th post on page 1 has the current list, up to date.

Notables that I can think of who haven't signed up are Khell, KL, and DiBs. And DKT. Or did he retire, officially?

If you have any spots I'm interested in checking it out, otherwise, let me know for the next game.

Yep. But this practice of signing up nearly an entire game before it's released to the rest of the forum is what I'm referring to. Doesn't seem new player friendly.

Just my unsought opinion.

I 87.5% agree.
Sign-up is sign-up, and for smaller games, seeing a list of 15 people coming in the OP when your game can accomodate only 14 for example is kind of shitty since you'll have to slash someone straight away rather than being able to accept 14 sign-ups.

This is Easy as pie.. Kill Mental in the OP...

I believe that this has been seconded by The Dude before. I don't understand why it isn't a mafia rule.
