See now, Eloth. This is the sort of panicked acting up that generally see people lynched on day 1. Perhaps, instead of being an ass you'd answer the perfectly legitimate questions asked of you.

Would that be so hard?

The only vote fener question I see vote fener is why did i vote fener choose to speak in korean vote fener especially vote fener when Merrid already did. Vote fener if i didn't vote fener get the point across vote fener then i would say vote fener again to read straight through vote fener my posts and see the vote fener theme. Plus vote fener geographically, isn't Korea just vote fener next to Japan? i vote fener would think that would be reason vote fener enough to use it, but really vote fener it isn't much more than vote fener using a non-Japanese language vote fener to teasingly vote fener apologize for making mistakes vote fener while simultaneously vote fener making more.

Ehm, no. Read back up, he showed offense at the asylum game being called Venge's. I voted him to show him I alted him.
Just sport.

Oh, I realize that countering my question by saying I'm calling the kettle black is a good way out. It does of course completely ignore the questions people other than me pose.

The difference between you and me is that I explained my reasons and motivations, whereas you have so far refused to enlighten why you went for Korean.
I already said I don't think it was signalling, but I'd still like an answer, and you're in the position to give one, but have so far refrained from doing so.
As Okaros says, it is probably nothing, but defusing this issue before it blows up to gigantic proportions that do get people lynched, is still required.

crosspost.

Pro-tip: if you're someone out to insult the intelligence of your co-players, make sure you use correct spelling and avoid basic mistakes like typing 'their' instead of 'there'.

Frankly, with the amount of new players in this game, I am less than impressed with the need people feel to throw words like moron, retard, wanker, idiot, arse-wipe et cetera into posts on minor issues. We're not being real ambassadors of the game and our rather tolerant and nice little community here.

That pedantic remark aside, I'll second Shelly's question: "why use the Korean google translate for your earlier contribution to the thread?"
because it is a good question.

As for not mentioning a team: suppose we have a faction structure where each player knows one other of their faction, and this may not be mutual knowledge, signalling you are on someone's side without mentioning a team is perfectly clear. As such, the initial use of Korean was weird and may be fishing for a reply in a kind. It may also be not. However, replying in the same way could be signalling "I am on your team."
Mind, I am of the opinion that this too is too overt to be credible. If anything, it may be fake symping. However, it does raise two questions.

1) why was there a post in Korean to begin with?
2) why was there another post in Korean?

I'd just like to highlight this - most intelligent post of the game so far.

And nice to see Eloth continuing to avoid the questions, this time deciding to drag me into it - probably as he considers the Fener alt as the easiest one to swing a lynch to, and for no other reason than that. I'd be quite content to vote either Merrid or Eloth at this point.

However, someone has also pointed out that lynching (mostly) blindly on day 1 could have more repurcussions than in a standard town-scum game, so I'm also not going to set down a vote just yet. First I'm going to read over the thread - though what I'll be looking for I'm not sure as yet.

Merrid is definitely Korean, because HE DIDN'T FUCKING MENTION A TEAM!!! Arse-wipes. What fucking use is signaling without having a fucking team mentioned. As my tufty tail swings sensuously like a lithe belly dancer, I am taken to noticing my tight, firm little arse, the pulsating muscles twitching playfully. I can only imagine the firmer tip of another dragons tail vigorously jabbing in and out of my hole as it nibbles on my supple shoulder and licks up my long elegant neck while pinning me helpless to the ground. And from the ground, I consider it's arched back, the pleasure radiating from its golden hide, while sweat patters down on my squirming figure.

And though distracted by the other wrapped around me, my thoughts flit through the day. The strangeness of shouting Fourth when one is more like 8th or 9th. And more numbers like Red Five, whoever the hell that is... and the romance of all the haikus, particularly that one about new clothing by that hotness GL who seems so painfully helpful.

I almost loose interest, my tail stopping its excited jerking, as I think about the prejudice against Korean. I mean freedom of expression (oooooo, now I'm feeling some expression, ohhh delicious...). ah drifting along, but considering the consistently, mocking, error-prone tone of my conversations, I am surprised to see people missing such trends, not putting it all together and thinking, mmmmm that clever hunk of day 1 funness, he's got something good to offer under all those glistening scales.

might hint at him being a foreigner. Now, I don't believe there are any Koreans in this period as a powerful faction that sends agents or spies or whatever. In fact, considering Toyotomi Hideyoshi invades Korea several decades later, Japan is probably way more powerful than Korea. I don't think Portugal had an embassy on the mainland either, but I'm less sure about that (1542 was the first contact).
I guess what we have here, if it is role based, may be a representative of either China or Portugal, who has language issues and is sometimes more eligible than at others. Cruel to be given such a role, as it makes you stand out a lot, and it also hints at not all factions being equal in roles (given how he is the only one so afflicted), which is interesting.

I've removed the 'vote Feners' from Eloth's post for easier reading (and for no other reason) :p

So Eloth's three answers are:

1) Read through my posts and you'll see the theme: Why don't you just tell us instead of asking us to dig out your reason for you, or are you struggling to come up with one.

2) Korea is close to Japan: I don't even....what? Seriously? That's like me hopping over the Channel to France and speaking English to everyone - they should be able to understand me right, because we're so close?

Really, this would be more acceptable if you just stuck to the argument in your third answer, but the fact that you then felt it necessary to add here, "I would think that would be reason enough to use it" is just the lamest, most unbelievable answer possible. Nothing has made me suspect that something is up here more than that - though what it is yet I don't know - but something is going on here with you.

3) Jokingly apologising for other mistakes: Which are what exactly?

The great and wise Eloth shakes his head sadly. Eloth is known for being too clever by far and playful as well. He sees he sees all other dragons as companions, friends who appreciate his keen humor and witty banter. Perhaps Eloth is not being very forthright, though how this could be so is beyond the clever Eloth. Eloth has voted in jest and prodded at the usual scapegoat with such blatancy as to be patently ridiculous. Alas, everyone one is so serious except for playful Eloth!

But Eloth shall persevere for the sake of his loyal friends, and continue to bestow his unique flavor to the game. For surely everyone loves Eloth despite their seemingly gruff behavior, and Eloth knows in the end he will win them over, not that they are not secretly admiring his person already. And with a nod to all, Eloth begins his long walk to school, a pastry appearing in his hand and quickly disappearing into his smiling face.

So instead of participating Eloth continues his path of uselessness. Sill dodging that very simple question

@GL - Some sort of language inhibiting role is simply ridiculous. This is not a role. This is Eloth being an ass.

Galayn, I'm suddenly really disappointed. Straight after I call one of your posts the most intelligent, you come up with this. You don't seriously believe that Eloth is playing a role with the way he is posting do you? No, he got in trouble, he got noticed, and now he's trying to laugh it off by continuing to post strangely. Look, Shin clearly states in the OP that this is a game where various factions *of Japan!!* fight over territory and whatnot. There's no Chinese, no Koreans, and no freaking Portuguese!!!

That's my opinion anyway. I'm not saying there aren't a few surprise roles out there. I'm sure there are - more than a few - but I'd wager they're all bloody Japanese! :p

The main point is that Eloth has really done nothing to alleviate suspicion. If anything, this actually makes me nervous about Merrid's potential role - is Eloth perhaps now trying to keep attention on him and away from Merrid, who was the other name to come up?

I'm starting to think we may have gotten a bit of luck here with Eloth. He's made waves, not responded the way he should have (not just my opinion), and now he's become flippant, imo. I feel fine with voting him for now. I'm going to review a little while.

The way I'm thinking, if Eloth turns out to be in my faction at least he has shown himself to be a rather useless faction member. It's always a risk hitting ones own faction, but at least this time around it wont be that big of a blow.

I agree that I don't think it is likely that there is a foreign faction. I just really, really am stupefied by Eloth's behavior. The only consistent part is the inconsistency of it all, but he is taking elements from all kinds of silencing effects that we have used in the past. That's more than random madness, suggests a method at least, whether his or role-based, and it is an element from his first post onwards, too - the third was the Korean language one that called all this down on him.

I'm willing to believe this is his own madness. I really want to believe that, actually, because otherwise, we are all of a sudden on really shaky ground. But I also think there's a pattern here and it takes such a bloody amount of effort to do this that no-one would go to voluntarily (according to my own rule of thumb of lazy > sweaty).

Quote

That's my opinion anyway. I'm not saying there aren't a few surprise roles out there. I'm sure there are - more than a few - but I'd wager they're all bloody Japanese! :p

The main point is that Eloth has really done nothing to alleviate suspicion. If anything, this actually makes me nervous about Merrid's potential role - is Eloth perhaps now trying to keep attention on him and away from Merrid, who was the other name to come up?

I agree on not alleviating suspicion. I do want clarity. Now, just roll with me and suppose this was a role... not saying it is, just examine the option.

There is a precedent with crazy roles set in the past (as precedents tend to do :p) by which the player was denied the option of saying it was a role, they had to post as if nothing was wrong with them, not acknowledging their deficit. Mentalist's malkavian worked that way too iirc.
I think it is very unlikely that Eloth is going to clarify the issue for us. The longer he waits, the more people will rage-jump on the train 'because he fucked with us and wasted our day, vile attention-seeker!' when/if he finally does so. Then again, the longer he waits, the more people will rage jump on the train because they can't stand it.

What this certainly isn't, is an ability being used on Eloth. Because such a thing would feature in a scene and I have seen nothing to explain it.

So, do I want to lynch him for it, or pressure vote him to see if he will keep it up or back down?
Part of me does, just to avoid the distraction for further on. Another part of me does want to lynch him just to see what he CFs like (and what CFs are like), but another part of me really doesn't want to vote him because it is a lazy lynch if it is a role-given effect. The catch is, even if he reveals and he does reveal as something we are totally not expecting (once again, not saying foreign, but what about an odd family name you can't associate with the Ashikaga, Fujiwara, Takeda or Uesugi -?), we're going to lynch him, too.

Anyhow, what puzzles me most now is why Merrid went for Korean in the first place.

im inclined to agree with Fener. Merrid disappeared as soon as there was any interest in him. Eloth is being waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too obvious. and defensive. and just plain weird. may be more understandable if he had given up on defending himself from being lynched, but there is no reason why these few votes could not be changed before a train develops.

for now, since im about to head off to bed and may not be back up before the end of the day

vote Merrid.

for now, since im about to head off to bed and may not be back up before the end of the day

vote Merrid.

This is a vote I can agree more with. If you see Eloth's behavior as more than simple attention seeking, like a redirection of attention away from Merrid, then you certainly vote the role that's being covered. Chances are you're voting the redirecting guy's superior officer.

11 Votes to Lynch. 10 to go to night.

1 Vote Osseric: Karatallid
1 Vote Atrahal: Tulas Shorn
1 Vote Tulas Shorn: Atrahal
2 Votes Merrid: Eloth, Sorrit
3 Votes Eloth: Shetatha Lore, Liosan, Okaros

Players not voting: Fener, Galayn Lord, Kessobahn, Korlat, Korvalain, Merrid, Olar Ethil, Omtose, Osseric, Shadow, Silanah, Tiamatha

However, with OE's vote on Merrid making it 3 for him, look who cast the first die: the guy drawing the attention to himself.

Blergh.

Vote Eloth

I'll give in, I'm this > < close to reasoning in circles and I hate that.
