Not a whole lot going on so far. I don't really buy Osseric's signaling case, but I need to take a closer look at the reaction. I'll try to get to a computer at some point but today is hectic. may not happen for a few hours.

Wait, so I explain why I vote (and for fucks sake, I explained what the reason was, , don't be moronic, you could easily read why I did it, it is like voting JA or Morgoth in altless. Being dumb about it is not becoming).

He outs himself, I say "okay, peekabo, gotcha alted!" and vote for a bit of emphasis. The vote then has served its purpose, so leaving it on would be idiotic. So I withdraw. Might it be signalling? Perhaps, but.... such blatant signalling never works. all it does, is, draw attention, like you just proved. So why would I signal that way, instead of using an innocuous little code like below:

remove Vote

I just love voting for people, you know....


So to recap (I won't do this in kanji), 3 good reasons against what I just did being signalling:
rule 1 of signalling: you don't signal with votes, it is too blatant.
rule 2 of signalling: you don't signal in a faction game. You don't want to give a connection away because the majority of the players is not on your side.
rule 3 of signalling: if you do signal, make sure it is innocuous and won't be copied in quotes or by Path-Shaper for posterity.

and as an added bonus, a tip for you, my young padawan:
rule 1 of spotting signalling: beware who you call out, they may just be on your team (or in this game, on an allied team). This isn't town versus scum where town can afford to blunder.

Isn't a merc game just another way of saying a faction game? That is how I read it. Shin also mentioned that all the "clans" are equal in number.That means there are either 4 or 5 clans in my book. 2 would be too small and 3 would create uneven numbers. You would have to jump up to 10 clans after that and that is just too crazy.

I'm not trying to get off easy with the role play. I just want some point of reference that people can look back on some of these posts 3 or 4 days from now and not have to retranslate everything that you posted here on day one. Also you might want to reread the OP. Shin clearly states that the teams are the same size in number.I was trying to go back through some of Shin's posts on the sign up thread. I could have swore that he mentioned that the game could have ran with 16 players if he had to. If so then I'm saying that there are 4 teams. What do people think this Open alliance comment means?

As I commented: running to google translate isn't exactly Roleplay.
Anyhow, cute rant.
But a few snide remarks:

1) Roleplay is a side-effect of the game, but it isn't game day 1 for nothing - the game is running. It's okay that you're not superduper serious but it is still a game day.

2) Roleplay depends on interaction, that means other people going along with it. Initiating it, cool. If it doesn't get people along, pity. Either way, no big issue. It is voluntary.

3) If people are annoyed with you playing the game under cover of google translate, they may have a point. RP is to amuse yourself and them (Personally, I'd have preferred if you added a haiku to each post instead, or posted in haiku or tanka/waka, would have gained you massive rep from me after the game, anyway)

4) In the old days, dragon sex took place during night resolution, not during the day. It being the unenlightened romantic nineties, they may even have turned of the light.

5) Few of our parents are old enough to have been born in the hippie-era....next time, keep the average age of your audience in mind when you try to insult them

6) In a game where no-one knows the roles, it is natural that people are suspicious. You can say you are RPing, but do they have to believe you? Nope, this is mafia, there's a lot of nerves and people trying to be clever, and no-one trusts no-one.

7) There is too much punctuation and too much correct grammar in your rant to become a classic.

im also amused by the Osseric/GL thing, although i dont think there is much to it. i do love how Osseric accuses GL of being defensive when all GL was doing was explaining the reason behind removing the vote.
