D'rek finally asks the trillion dollar question that makes her character so boss:

Illusionary Treasury.
Phase: any. Cost: 1000 dinari, 2 Magic.

Whenever you spend Dinari on a contract or purchase, you may use this ability instead. The payment is considered complete for your side, but the other party does not receive anything.

Can I use Illusionary Treasury on bazaar purchases of items not offered by other players? If I can I am an idiot for not realizing this sooner (I could've bought the Governorship day 1!)

Yes :p

Yes, that ability makes Sharif boss, but only if you have MAGIC...

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU.... I made you raid HP instead of Galain. My bad.

I kid, didn't Telas raid me as well anyways?

I'm easy to alt when I make mistakes like watching the thread naked from my phone right after I say in alt that I"m going to leave, THEN making a post out of alt. Heh.

I like to play characters in these games. This game I was generally agreeable and somewhat well spoken, with a tendency to post a lot of content. Last game I played I was an asshole and I didn't contribute nearly as much, mostly 1 liners.

edit: I usually alt GH and KL. Didn't get either of them this game, although KL wasn't playing. I did get D'rek, not sure why I've alted her every game I've played with her. Got Ment as well. That's it though. Too new..

My lack of personality makes me impossible to alt.

I also like that you updated the player info on page one of the thread. I wonder is someone will figure out that the Qadi will come back.

About the Qadi. Was his lynch proof suppose to stop him from dieing in the first place?

No. I specifically made the Djinn hinder the BP/LP for as long as he remained unsummoned, so that an early exit for the Qadi was possible and he wouldn't cost two days of lynching at a time when he is essentially just an RI with a vengeance. It was more that once he had the Djinn out, he would be near-invulnerable.

I even said in the day story:

Serc (JA) is Tarkin the Bitterhearted,

where for everyone else I used past tense, no-one discovered that yet, I think ;)

I saw that but thought it meant just that he wasn't dead story-wise.

D'rek, I voted Lyca player of the game because her actions went a long way to winning it for the Nepeth, but on thread you were probably making the best posts.

Great big fun game, Tapper! I can't wait for 0.66 and 1.00!

I too heartily endorse the idea of things being not quite so bloodthirsty at first - maybe all the roles should start with such resources as they don't have the resources to fulfill their potential (generals can't battle, thieves can't steal, khan can't raid, merchants can't do economicy things, etc) and it takes a day or two to start getting yourself into that potential-fulfilling state? Idle thoughts, I'm sure whatever changes you make will be even better!

Tapper, I think you're spot on about many of them not seeing the full capabilities of their roles - and how to play the market. I think the main issue is that they've all been so concerned to also try and keep their heads down and not raise too much attention. You've created cool characters for each one of them that they've all fallen in love with and don't want to see destroyed (heck, I can even say the same about my lame-ass nobody!), so they're unwilling to try something more daring - or, rather, think beyond the confines of their standard abilities, used one at a time.

I started like this, but I used my role as much as possible (I think?) and went after the market with a vengeance.

And look. I ended up dead. I spent my cash, I tried to make deals, but no one was using the bazaar. I didn't even have a chance to own a retainer.

Yes, I don't know if that's down to this being a mini or what, but protection-wise it took too long to gather enough resources, whereas the killer roles (aside from me, actually!) had what they needed right off the bat. But still, this series has a ridiculous amount of potential. Frankly, I'm in love with it, and I only lasted a day!

Yeah, I misjudged some stuff. Your role was one of them, as was JA's Qadi. HD was also sparse, but he was designed for it.
But the Nepeth were always meant to steamroll early on, then get into trouble on account of a lack of resources, having to sell what little water they had - and that worked exquisitely - I think Lyca had 1k dinari left after day 2, and D'riss 1k, OE was broke. Liosan also managed one upgrade plus a Retainer, with just 3 Livestock plus raid yields, but in all fairness, he started with 15k.

I did misjudge the trade quantities and trade prices and I do think we need more increments. By inflating starting income (which will probably be my solution in 0.66), I hope I allow players a direction - upgrade directly or hoard and pay 2-3 cycles of actions.
Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

Khell again - just posting today's conversation between Liosan and Anomandaris. Some interesting speculation on strategy to do with contracts here, and nice to see it confirmed that they had picked the right 'danger players' - just a bit more luck needed in the end.

Liosan, on 05 January 2012 - 06:19 AM, said:

Omtose is switching to Emur then.

Liosan, on 05 January 2012 - 09:05 AM, said:

Hey Ano, how is your money situation? If one of us is hurting for funds, we could set up some "insider trading" in the bazaar.

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 12:07 PM, said:

Funds are not good. I have 2000 dinari, soon to drop down to 1000 with our raid. If I had 7000 in the bank, a skill would activate that would make me stronger. I can't get any of the upgrades cause I don't have the right shit. So just floating for now.

Liosan, on 05 January 2012 - 12:31 PM, said:

Hopefully raids will yield you the right goods. Sorry I cleaned you out....

I'll probably be taxed again, which means after tonight I will probably only have the money for one more raid. Initially I was hoping money would be part of our raiding spoils.....

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 12:39 PM, said:

I know, sad to have to rely on people buying our good, esp when those with money spend it on Tax Collector titles...

You can always sell one good of the raided spoils on the bazaar to P-S, that refunds your basic raiding indefinately ;)

Haha, with your rates.... I may have to at some point, but I ain't cutting my self short quite yet :p

By the way, with both of you hear, I want to flesh out a crazy idea.

First of all, PS, if I create a contract that says something like first person to vote OE gets 10,000 dinari and then, of course, fail to follow through on the contract, do I lose the 2000 dinari in my accounts for the effort or is it an all or nothing type of failure?

Oh, you won't make a profit - and that's not the point of my role in the market either (that's to keep a minimum of denari available). But you can at the least continue raiding each night :)

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 12:45 PM, said:

The reason I'm asking is that we have a game where no one can reveal, except by breaking contracts. Technically, everyone who is not Nepeth should have no problem revealing for reals as long as they aren't an island in a sea of unknowns.

So, what happens if I can convince people to "reveal" such that those who resist are Nepeth and can be lynched in an orderly fashion? I know this is counter intuitive to a game of mafia, but we are going to lose another 3 people this evening if there are 2 Nepeth soldiers and 1 lynch (bringing us down to 3 v 4 in the Nepeth v everyone else)

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 12:50 PM, said:

So, this is what I've tabulated so far on who is left:

We have us three Khanates (3)
We have at least one Nepeth (1)
We also probably have at least one other trader (1)
We have a person with magic, thus a summoner (1)

That leaves us with four definite unknowns. I think that there are a minimum of 3 Nepeth, so there are two (2) more accounted for. I also will hazard that there is one other trader (1), so we have one unknown out there that could be from another of the other factions (1).

It's a little bit more difficult... if your contract was for 'every player who votes' you'd pay as many as you can completely and then forfeit completely.

In this case, since you can't raise the initial sum, you pay nothing and he learns your identity.

So in this case, it's 100% all or nothing.

Ah, that's right, only the person you fail gets to have your identity. Ok scratch that idea then....

Ok, Ano, I want your opinion.

I asked Omtose as well.

WHO, in your mind, is the most dangerous person remaining? I have a raiding ability that not only steals stuff, but also ruins 1 water AND ruins their water production for day 3.

That would cripple someone pretty badly, so hitting a Nepeth would be ideal. Where are your suspicions. If you're still alive after Dusk, revise as necessary. Answer this ASAP, just in case you're targeted at Dusk.

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 11:44 PM, said:

Ah, just saw your post. Currently, my money is on D'riss and OE (actually, esp OE)

Anomandaris, on 05 January 2012 - 11:46 PM, said:

My reasoning is that OE has the optimal excuse of switching users and thus can hide behind that for at least a day. Everyone else is starting to get some heat. I think HP is on our side more or less because of his magic supply (not something I would expect on an Nepeth.

you can say anything about anyone, but not about yourself. You are not allowed to quote conversations or use timestamps from PMs or whatnot as proof.

Anomandaris, on 06 January 2012 - 12:05 AM, said:

Ok, great.

By the way Liosan, I think it's time for the white riders to take over the thread...

Anomandaris, on 06 January 2012 - 12:07 AM, said:

Unless there is an assassination, it is 7 people left, probably with a 4 to lynch condition. Get Omtose on board promptly and reign him in. We need to be careful because I think we have only 2 Nepeth left, and we need to step carefully. They don't have us yet.

Make sure Omtose is on the same page as us two, please!!!

OK, I'm raiding D'riss at the moment, and you're raiding Galain.

Galain was the one person who did not switch to SA, and didn't appear likely to.

My raid is (I'm guessing rightly) the more devastating one. Do you and I want to switch, with you raiding D'riss and me raiding Galain?

Omtose has a double-raid ability, he's hitting Korv and Emur tonight.

Lyca/Korv killed JLV/Galain, and drew in D'riss with her Daring Assualt for extra pwnage on poor JLV.

D'riss also targeted and took you out, because you didn't have enough money to buy your way free.

Sorry, I wasn't paying close enough attention - Anomandaris said he is going to go after Galain tonight, so if you could choose someone else that'd be great.

I'm gonna do D'riss, with Korv as my #2.

k, raiding Emur as no 1 choice.

Good. I've got a bit of a case on Emur in the works.

Hey Ment, how is your money situation? If one of us is hurting for funds, we could set up some "insider trading" in the bazaar.

I don't have much. I'm double-raiding tonight though ( I can do that), so I should have stuff for sale tomorrow.

oh, and you said it might be a good idea to sho woff-thread comms.... hehe.

Korv is feeling the pain because HP assumed he had those.

I love how Olar accuses me of being middle of the road for making a case on someone. That makes zero fucking sense. :p

Olar gets a free ride right now, cuz he's a replacement player. sigh. who do you think is a better lynch?

Liosan, on 05 January 2012 - 10:58 PM, said:

Sukul. When he first agreed with me last night, I was thinking "oh that's nice". But his conversations since then defending himself make him look scummy. Not to mention, if I vote him that would cast suspicion away from any connection between us.

However, knowing my normal 'gut', Korv is probably the better lynch since I don't get a feeling either way...

Omtose, on 05 January 2012 - 11:12 PM, said:

hmmm, I concur. Sukul's deffo pinging all kinds of radars.

and of the loud people, I still think Emu's our man.

Liosan, on 05 January 2012 - 11:17 PM, said:

Should I raid him instead of D'riss?

provided Sukul's lynched, Emu and Korv are the two ppl I'm raiding tonight.
I got a feeling this dusk could get bloody though.

Right, I'm going to stay awhile so I can switch provisionals if needed. WHO, in your mind, is the most dangerous person remaining? I think your judgement is pretty good on these things

The reason I ask, is I have a raiding ability that not only steals, but also destroys 1 water and sets water production to zero for that person for Day/Night 3.

This would severely cripple someone, and we want it to be the right someone.

right now?

I'm not sure depends on whether Sukul's inno.

I'd prefer you use it on one of the quiet guys (OE/D'riss), but i'd want to see if they voted for inno/scum first.
can't be more helpful than this, I gotta run to work. I'll be back in about 4 hours.

Thought I'd post this thought from Olar/The Dude:

One thing: (and really i am not ragging on anything, but just something for you to look at when balancing next game.) If someone is required to put out 3-4 resources for an upgrade, they should probably be able to see what they are getting into. It makes for much better planning and much more strategic thinking. This game for instance looks to be about 4-6 day-->night cycles. It will be very tough to attain resources for more than 1-2 upgrades, or to sell etc. By taking that upgrade I have basically shot myself in the foot and wasted 12k dinari on resources. I know thats on me, but i feel really helpless now. If I had known what the upgrade was I would have formulated a much better plan. as it is I now have the ability to increase my army size that I will almost certainly never be able to get the resources for much less sustain if I could somehow get them.

But like I say, i havent seen any of the game other than my character. So i might just be designed to be this way. I am probably just pouting cause I made a poor decision ;)
