Seeing how it is 1.30 am here, and I have to work tomorrow. The options are to either wait with resolution until tomorrow morning, or do it now (technically skipping 3.5 hours of night).

I personally would really like to go ahead with the night resolution, also because all of you have sent in provisionals.

Can you please add up your own new Storage totals at Dusk, using the previously supplied PM? Those with unexpected changes will be informed.

The following day, not one, but two armies appeared on the front, working in concert

THIS, I do not like. Off-thread comms it would appear to me.

Me neither. however, it looks like there is only 2 left, which means currently we have 5 to 2 which means if we get one today, we probably can manage a victory.

I return with a drink in hand and a much improved mood. Sitting down on the bench, I stretch, probably displaying an inappropriate amount of flesh for someone of my rank, but I can't really be bothered. I haven't found the means to execute the fool in front of me, but a good listener is a rare enough commodity and I do feel enlivened by these nightly audiences. I don't give any introduction, just launch into my story straightaway.

“That night, all hell broke loose. The White Foal had arrived, and in numbers too: around a thousand in total, which, according to the figures the caravan masters present me with, represents only a tenth of their complete raiding strength (not counting warriors), which means that you have to divide those numbers by ten, which means that they were almost all there.”

I squint at what he writes down. Ten thousand screamers gallopping in a charge against the Nepeth lines. I must suppress a sigh at his liberty with history.

“But when the townsfolk of Ishktar planned a sally, they did so only to see the horde gallop past the city, without so much as exchanging an arrow with the Nepeth.

In a burned down back-alley, a trader and the legendary Khaheris met each other. The trader was told in the uncertain terms that apparently only exist between either mortal enemies or lifelong friends that he could no longer count on his bloodline to save him, at the least, not until the end of the unpleasantries caused by the Nepeth Drought. I have this story first hand, because that trader was also the one elevated to Tax Collector. His hand is quite rough, untrained, almost. Maybe I should have offered a caligraphy course...

Anyway, Khaheris then snuck out of the city, leading a small raid on the camp of the impetuous and gallant General Potedopeth, and got away with his life, a new legend to his name, but also with very little profit. The main military development of that night was the intiative of the remaining White Foal raiders, who, after circling the Nepeth army, lured a large part away into the desert, then returned to raid their supply wagons, shattering every single water container they met, and posioning the remainder with the corpses of cats and snakes, before settling down near the shores of the Oasis. When dawn greeted the burned out city and its garrisson, ten thousand Nepeth warriors were on their knees, so weak with thirst that they would die within hours.

The tragedy of a double siege loomed. But... when dawn came, the White Foal warriors were gone. Tepmashi rightly judged that avoiding a massed battle and picking off the Nepeth supply trains one by one would not be fast enough to save Ishktar, and for the survivors, there was no choice but to bend the knee to their new overlords.”

I am certain that you have questions – mostly pertaining to why the Nepeth didn't march on to Madeena al-Salaam, but recognized my authority over their new holding. The answer is simple. They believed that I had called the White Foal off. For the White Foal, nothing changes, apart from the fact that now Nepeth troops patrol the Sea of Sand. For the Houses of Agreement, well, their income will be taxed twice, and they can no longer hold a monopoly on the water and slave trades.
The Qadi has returned to my side, and a new Orphanage has been built amidst the ruins. I have named it after my first official: the Alisa ibn Ben Khar House of Waifs. And so, Collector of Fables, this tale ends. I look forward to your rendition of it. You may go now.”

The Nepeth have won the game,
They had 4 players, contrary to your speculation, and because of the order of resolution, their numbers were for a very short time (the split second between battle resolution and lynch resolution), equal to those of the other factions, before losing Tattersail to the lynch.
Thanks to twelve for being clearheaded enough to point that out ;)

Thanks for playing, password to SH = canada.

I hope you all will be so kind to post all your Pms in SH. It is a very quiet place on account of me spending most of my time answering stuff and so little copy/pasting

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Well played Nepeth!

Man(woman) of the match for me is Lyca/Korvalain - the Daring Assault won the game, and was especially daring using it day 1 to draw in Sukul/Tattersail, whom she couldn't have known for sure was on her team! ;)

So does that me that Tattersail actually lived to be around for future games? Does that also mean that D'rek's character is also alive because the game ended as soon as their was parity after JLV bit the big one?

Forget that last part but I am curious to know if Tattersail's character survived or not.

I think not, because there was a scene showing his death.

He's not. The lynching had taken place, so it had to be resolved as well even if the game was already over.

The timing of various phases (especially battle/ lynch) and the conditions of victory will have to be revaluated before I launch 0.66. There is some understandable anger with some (that hopefully fades) over the way the game ended. I understand that, would have preferred a clearer and less technical end myself (this feels like a 12 round boxing match ending with 104-104, 104-104 and 104-105 ruled by the blind dodgering fool who stares more at the ring girl than at the boxing), but that's it.

So, better luck and better rules next time.

There was a bit of confusion, but I don't think there's any anger! This whole setup (the story, characters, mind-boggling detail and abilities) is amazing, and I think everyone loved it.

Regardless of length and outcome (really, I demand my tranny back), that game was much fun, and I can't wait for the next. Rep all around
