Role PMs:

Liosan/

You are Sergeant Astley, ex-police officer in New York City. You have long been known as the hard ass of the police department. You're the officer that scares recruits. You are a master of Krav Maga, and you know how to handle dozens of weapons and explosives. You're ex-police for a reason. You have been offered the biggest job of your life. $100 million, and your own estate hidden away from prying eyes in South America, dozens of servants included. The bankers are paying you. All you have to do is eliminate those damn pesky Occupy Wall Street hippies.

You are a killer. You may submit one kill every night. Provisionals are your friend.

Eloth/

You are Jerry McArthur, a street tough from Brooklyn. You're a smart kid. That's why you accepted the offer. $10 million, and all you have to do is make sure that some guy doesn't get caught and torn to shreds while in some hippy camp. Sounds easy enough, right?

You are a symp. You know that Liosan is Sergeant Astley, a killer. Keep him alive at all costs.

Galayn Lord/

You are Kevin Treehumper. You're a dirty hippy who loves trees and loves everything. Except evil corporations and bankers!... or something. You got lucky with this Occupy Wall Street business, free tents! You could live there for years if you can just hold out. You share your stolen tent with your stinky hippy girlfriend/lifemate, Jessica Flowerchild.

You are a lover. You know that Fener is Jessica Flowerchild, your lover. You may communicate off thread in the PM I set up.

Fener/

You are Jessica Flowerchild. You're a dirty hippy who loves nature and flowers and to just be one with the world, mannn. But you hate bankers, right? Well, at least you get a free place to crash for as long as this protest stays in effect. You share your stolen tent with your smelly hippy boyfriend/soulpartner Kevin Treehumper.

You are a lover. You know that Galayn Lord is Kevin Treehumper, your lover. You may communicate off thread in the PM I set up.

RI

You are an outraged lower middle class early twenty year old. You hate the way the system works, you're ready for a change, and you won't move until you get what you want. Down with the 1%!

You are an RI.

RI

You are a squatter, taking advantage of the protest to get a place to sleep and smoke crack. You want this protest to survive as long as possible, so you can squat for another couple months. Down with the 1%... whatever that means.

You are an RI.

Just did the alt-drawings. Literally out of a hat. Interesting that GH got killer again, hopefully he can take advantage of the familiarity and go to town.

I've never seen ST symp, but I have faith. Scum has to play exceedingly well, there's no killer partner if GH gets caught.

Lots of really good people playing, so naturally the RI's are looking good. I'm excited to see some participation from them.

Twelve and KL are the lovers, and they have to be the counter to the insane symping that ST will have to do. Should be interesting to see how this develops.

Galayn Lord (King Lear) responds to her role PM

Galayn Lord, on 12 December 2011 - 12:15 AM, said:

Yes! Dirty hippies all the way. Humping trees here, there, and everywhere.

Liosan (GH) responds to his.

Liosan, on 12 December 2011 - 01:07 AM, said:

Wow, 2nd time in a row! :p

I hope I can do you proud JLV :p .

Some pregame-chatter from Shadow (Tattersail)

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 11:04 AM, said:

Are we all RI's and we just have to lynch each other until the last two standing? However, we don't now this and think we have to look for a killer?

Would be pretty awesome :p

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 11:04 AM, said:

I keep looking at that sodden screen looking for the game to start :D

I know who the killer is! It's Tapper!

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 11:34 AM, said:

So this game probably will have one killer and one symp. That's my guess, but because there are not that many people playing one killer without a symp could be a possibility. WCS is what you guys say we should think about sooooo....

2 killer's, shared kill. One symp, quick game, done by the end of the week.

1 in 10 shot of hitting the killer day one.

We miss he kills, that is 8 people left.

We miss he kills, 6 people left

At that point, if he has more than one team scum then if we miss and he kills, scum would win.

Dispose of symp or killer early. If symp he doesn't have much time to disupt everything

Killer will want to lay low and not draw attention to himself, usually the day one people that are more vocal are the ones who turn out to be innocent, or symps, but the killers know this and may want to become a higher poster.

A bit of Wifom there, but this particular game if I was the killer i'd lay low and not draw any heat. I think a few people would too, especially as we (town) haven't been getting rid of the lower posters lately, we forgive many people for saying they are busy and they have this RL issue or that RL issue but the truth is they are using this as a smoke screen, from now on i'll be wary of people posting RL fears in thread.

Saying that it would not be a sole reason to go for them.

Just thinking out loud here anyway, none of this is going into my gameplan or strategy until i've seen some posts on thread and see where discussion is going.

Think of this as a weird treat. A wobbly messed up wifom full of crap post just cause i'm bored and wanted to ramble on.

Interesting thoughts there, Tatter. I disagree with the RL issue. I don't think people use it as an excuse often. That would be quite rude. Sometimes people just can't post. Normal humans need sleep, Tattersail :p

ST has never played symp. Should be fun to see how it goes.

Eloth, on 12 December 2011 - 12:23 AM, said:

Ooh, this should be fun! Believe it or not, I've never had the chance to play as a symp before. I think I'll try to play in a similar vein to last game...seemed to work pretty well.

ST

He wants me to put the RI PM on the thread, but I don't intend to. I tried to mix it up a bit by having two possible role PMs for the RIs, but I can't make it easy on the scum. They have to play well to win.

Venge reads his role PM:

I believe that this is a mistake. I worked on a exchange for 13 years and am now working up stairs for a software company that allows the 1% to continue to be the 1%. you obviously sent this to the wrong alt. Please check SH and send me the correct role. I want to beat the shit out of the smelly hippies.

The other day I walked through the occupy protest here in chicago and lamented with one of Chicago's finest about how they couldn't just beat the shit out of them anymore. Like they did during the 68 democratic convention.

Khell reads his

Olar Ethil, on 12 December 2011 - 12:42 PM, said:

The Occupy Wall Street thing has hardly registered on my consciousness, and I consider myself a fairly well-informed person. Perhaps it's just not big news on my side of the pond. In the UK there was widespread disdain at the similar attempt outside the London Stock Exchange, both for the obviously young and privileged protestors and for St Paul's Cathedral, outside of which they had set up camp and which complained they were losing revenue as a consequence - the Church obsessed with money too? Say it isn't so! :/

I think the problem may be that the targets of such action are generally faceless corporations - a bit tougher to get angry about an institution than it is about an actual human person. Not to mention that the aims themselves are a bit wishy-washy to put it mildly - as if mob rule would be any better. Not that I have any answers, I just like to disparage the attempts of others :D

Ahem, so RI eh? Well, erm, down with....the banks? Stock exchange? The System with a capital S - and its friend, the Man. Up with...stuff and things. Better stuff and things! More, erm, regulation, and power to the People with a capital P!

Save the Whales! Exterminate the Panda!

Liosan (GH) guessing at game mechanics.

Liosan, on 12 December 2011 - 12:57 PM, said:

OE = Venge

Current guess on game dynamics:
Town probably has a finder, vig, and a guard/healer
Scum has at least one symp and the killer

Shadow (Tatter) has some comments.

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 01:15 PM, said:

As you can see on thread, i'm going to look lynchable, so that I don't draw the nightkill, this is early doors so I could be lynched but i'll defend myself aptly and create a lot for town to have a look at, i've decided i'm not going to try and play smooth and look perfect because that to me looks scummy. I'm not going to give anyone a free ride, i'm going to accuse people for low posting or for spamming, or for looking too helpful or for not voting or for not defending themselves, and see how we go.

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 02:00 PM, said:

I hate leading the thread cause I can find anything and anyone scummy. Yet finding the true scum is better left to the pros, i'm trying to stir up conversation/confrontation for everyone to look at. I'll be curious to see if anyone agrees with me this early. Also, at the moment i'll be the easiest to build a case on as I have posted lots. I should be easiest to PI in my opinion but people may find me "symp"ish.

Shadow, on 12 December 2011 - 02:22 PM, said:

I am a moron for not linking the OP to the description in the picture!

I can't argue stirring up the thread isn't fun, but it also makes you seem very scummy. You're all over the place, as someone (Tulas shorn, see below) points out in PM. Don't make yourself a Martyr, every lynch counts in this game and you could be throwing off everyone else.

Tulas Shorn (Shinrei) speaks out [and is utterly wrong]

Tulas Shorn, on 12 December 2011 - 01:38 PM, said:

First impressions (because they are so fun to read afterwards. :D )

Merrid is scum. Being symped by either Olar or Shadow.

That is, if there is a symp in the game. Only 10 people, so at max it's two killers or a killer and symp.

Tulas Shorn, on 12 December 2011 - 02:34 PM, said:

Shadow is all over the place...

I also find it interesting that people are so willing to say "I'm a newb!" by pointing out they've never used these alts before.

Cheers JLV on digging them out. I like playing as Tulas Shorn for some reason.

I'm KL, by the way

The hippy talk is cracking me up. Twelve is especially hilarious.

Everyone has checked in to the thread already except KL, and it's only been 4 hours since I opened it.

I'm happy with the participation so far. I'm also posting a lot in here. Talking to myself.

I like your balance, ought to be interesting. The lovers may actually get lynched for symp plus scum if they support each other too much... and I expect this might be one game where Venge goes on a crazy rant.

Be wary of the RI role post technique... it hasn't happened for a while but a clueless town with mostly RIs occassionally falls for it :D

I guess that is also why Sir T requested the PM to be made public :p

they refer to a part of their PM, a sentence or funny bit, that will allow other RIs to identify them, thus CIing themselves. Sometimes, this turns into a snowball where half of town is CI, sometimes it outs scum and roled town who don't understand. Last time it was used,.I had sent the RI role PM to scum in their PM and one of them tried to CI himself that way.

Ah I've seen bits of that going on. Such as the nun game, and already in this game. The multiple RI PMs should halt that, I would assume. 3 squatters, 2 hippy lovers, 3 concerned college students, one hired killer, 1 boston symp.

Payback for that damn no CF, Paranoid Finder, fucktastic scum are going to roll like stones to victory game.

Also, if they start bandying about "coded" RI PM shit drop the mod-hammer early.

In fact, you might want to make it a point to say on thread that a role pm wasn't posted and you will be vigilant and drop an insta-hammer if you think town is doing so.

Edit: I now see Tapper's post.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I'm going to make a post shortly.

And I see Tattersail is bring the "do you really think a killer would do blahblahblah" into it. Bad form, imo. WIFOM heaven.

edit: ST is on top of things.

Truly Eloth do you think the killer would come on thread and accuse different players of been the killer, highlighting himself for all to see and try to stave off cases for the rest of the game?

No one has discussed what we may be looking at here and what we need to find.

Word of friendly advice - avoid that WIFOM stuff, however tempting it may seem. It's bad shit man! [/obligatory hippie phrase] I'll tell you right now that it doesn't put anyone at their ease - in fact, it tends to make them more jumpy, from experience.

I'm not one for early role spec - too easy for scum to come along and drag the discussion wherever they want. I mean, I could throw out something ridiculous like "What if there's a banker who wins when Wall Street is clear? He wins if he manages to get down to the final three." I have no evidence to back up this ridiculously farfetched hypothesis, but because I've said it you have to treat it as a possibility. Which sucks.

With one killer, low-posting will get hammered. In such a small game if you have active players you MUST post, so let's hope Gusty gets online and starts posting.

Also, you might have it covered with your multiple role PMs, but I just hate seeing that PM bullshit ruin games.

I was never interested in a Shadow Lynch. The dude is mouthy. But just what town needs. If it wasn't for his complete lack of RP interest i wouldn't give him a second thought. But since his agressive style would fit in perfectly as an uptight finance dude I say we have our killer. But this is mafia and not who can RP the best.

But as Day 1s goes I think I've only ever been on a successful Day 1 lynch in my life and that was a game where I championed going after the low posters. I feel that strategy needs to be revived.

NOT ON DAY & ONE NOT IN TOWN V SCUM. Christ, you could blindly hit your Finder, Healer, Guard, only power role.

I recognize that the no-CF game will have people anxious about low-posters, but there needs to be strategy behind it. Mostly you'll just kill bored ass town.

Or in one rare lucky strike a Faction Lead when he is not present and was on the thread and board for a combined 15 minutes.

I broke Tapper's game. :D
