You're right, and SE often trusts his readers to understand that fact, or even to feel it more by contrast. Sinn is a tragic character, not a villain. In even his happiest of happy endings (on the surface, TCG had that), it's up to readers to recognize who didn't actually make it.

Raises an interesting point... other than Tavore, who is left ambiguous, is there any character who is so shattered by the conclusion that altho' they live, their storyline ends in tragedy?
