He (Sam Dun) also did the documentaries Iron Maiden: Flight 666 and Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage. Both very good.
The latest episode of Metal Evolution covers The New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWoBHM) that burgeoned late 70's / early 80's.

Since we're already trading obscure recommendations, I thought I'd beat the drum for some of my less-well-known favourites.
For one, there's Orden Ogan, a German Power Metal band following in the vein of Blind Guardian without being too derivative.
Also, Wuthering Heights from Denmark. Their style is a bit hard to place, but they're very good. I swear they'd be famous if they had just chosen a different name.
(Like, any one that wasn't a 19th century romance novel. I mean, come on...)

We might not be free, but we sure are cheap.

I've seen the Rush docu, didn't realize that Dunn helmed that as well. The funniest thing about all this is my wife's a bigger metalhead than I am, she is a freaking walking rock/metal encyclopedia. Plus she gets freebies from the record labels due to her job as a music director for an active rock station.

Watching the latest episode of Metal Evolution (this episode covers "Shock Rock"). I will fight you if you disagree with the influence Venom had on multiple genres of metal!

I don't disagree. Doesn't mean I like them though...

I'm gonna start watching it now. I hope its better tha "The Story of Metal" one which basically covered Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and the bay area thrash scene. Those were great but the rest was dedicated to glam and nu metal and some hard rock. They completely omitted doom, black, death, power, progressive, folk, viking metal to name some.

Tonight I'll be attending my first ever Rammstein concert. This is the second concert they have in Denmark this year, the first one being yesterday. It has received excellent reviews and it will be awesome!
That is all!
That is all!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I hate you.

The missus and I went to our second last night - some (reduced in size obviously) pics in the spoiler just to rub it in ;-)
Not as much flame as when on a festival stage with no roof but still absolutely amazing.

Wooooow. I would have gone to Wembley when they started their LIFAD tour but it was on a Thursday and I have commitments on Thursday evenings.
Le sigh. Next time...
I've been listening to Turisas' Battle Metal recently; that's a great album.

I went, I saw and it was fucking awesome! It was so fucking awesome and I was so much in the moment that I can barely remember the actual concert. All I really, truly, remember is that it was fucking awesome!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

I love Epica, didn't know they had a new album though. Sweet!
