The new Spartacus has an extremely appealing voice, honestly, I'd always turn up my speakers to the max when he was talking. But acting-wise he was worse than Andy and I couldn't quite get into the second season or sympathize with Spartacus. My favorite season was the prequel Gods of the Arena, I love Gannicus.

How did you like how they did the gay lovers stories? I remember that being some of your interests.

I was surprised as hell when Barca turned out to be in a gay relationship, not just having gay sex. But his and Petrois' relationship seemed more natural than the gay relationship from the vengeance series. Barca and Petrois were likable, I didn't like the other two. The second time it felt forced, just to repeat things from the first series.

I can just giggle and blush at that question.
But, neither of the gay romances seemed natural to me, they're just token gays like in every HBO series. I liked the show alright, but it was purely fanservice, no emotion whatsoever.

I caught it. First episode was badass. This last season should be quite a ride. War of the Damned indeed!

My HBO and Starz, etc are cancelled atm. I need to call and have them put back on. I really enjoyed the very first spartacus season a lot. A LOT. The rest were still good, too. And I really don't want to miss this season.

I should re-add the channels so I can watch the next Game of Thrones, too.

It is 10 episodes, saw that on the website when I was watching the first episode. It was great, as usual.

I am once again reminded how much I dislike their manner of speech. What's the word for it... archaic? I don't know, but it's pretty frustrating.
Otherwise, I'm liking the story so far. There ought to be some romance with Spartacus and the redhead, and the token gays are too cute. Also the Romans in this season are quite likeable, although Caesar is one mad sob. Crassus is a nice character.

episode: blood brothers (aired 3/1) .... holy shit!

Also, the show is very kind to the merkin business.

I think this season is better than S2 thus far. I particularly like the fact that the show itself is addressing all the moral ambiguities of Spartacus's rebellion, and putting them at the forefront. Spartacus and his crew did a bunch of horrible ruthless things in S2 (the whorehouse massacre, the murder of hundreds of arena audience members, etc), yet all those thing were swept under the rug, as if it ain't no thing killing hundreds of innocent people.

I do wonder, though, why they insist on playing out this high school drama between Agron and Nasir.

Great balls of fire! Those last 15 minutes were insane!

That was indeed epic, and sad. The bad thing is for those of us the know history have known what's going to ultimately happen over the course of the show. I got a theory about Spartacus though so we ll see which way it ll go for the finale.

Aye, knew it was coming!

Don't think I moved a muscle for the last 15 minutes, epic/awesome/sad and it wasn't even the season finale!

@champ do you know the history of what happened? I want to see if you might agree with me what happens next week if you know the history.

That I do!

Holy sphincter pucker! Now that is how you honor the undefeated Gaul; with some downright vicious gladiator game action! Next week's finale (and series completion #sadface) should be a donnybrook!

I'd seen every Spartacus episode up until season 3. I missed the whole season, but I just now watched s3e01 online. It reminded me how good Spartacus was. I can't say that the later seasons were as good as the first, at least imo, but I still enjoyed them.

I thought the first season was just insanely well done. Secondly, I liked the prequel season with Gannikus(spelling?), and thought season 2 was good, but not as good as the first or the prequel.

Here's to hoping I can catch the rest of the episodes for s3 online.

Holy Epic Shit Batman.

I watched episodes 1 and 2 online, and I have to admit this season seems to have garnered some of that magic that was lost after the first season. This season has invested in something I felt the previous ones needed very badly - a worthy adversary.

I know I'll misspell the shit out of these names, but I'm liking the characters of Krassius and Caesar as enemies of spartacus. Yeah, I'm thinking you're right about season 3.

I'll admit I got a little manfully choked up at the end of the series finale. Great show.

really enjoyed the finale and the episodes leading up to it. after the very dodgy first episode of season one, it really is quite remarkable how good the show got. only complaint for the whole final season was tiberius who had but two expressions - blank or hunchbacked angry trollface. literally looked like he had his hackles up every time he was called to convey emotion.

I cried a river at that ending, even though I expected it, since the show was fairly following the historical events. Spartacus's death was really sad and that poor slave girl/Crassus's lover.

The finale was fantastic. And seeing the original spartacus, andy whitfield (spelling?) in the credits was a really nice touch.
