sweating like a bastard pulling armoured cables did me for today.
but generally I find playing sport a much easier way to exercise, motivation via competitive spirit, especially if its just a lark with your mates, you dont want them to win. I find the whole dedicated training thing difficult, I've tried plenty of times to get into a routine of running or gyming it, only thing i'll stick to on a regular weekly basis is footy

well im trying something a tad radical as ever since the wedding ive done nothing but balloon. In order to fight this Ive looked at my strengths first. I wake up around 6 via habit, so to make this usefull i get up, do my pushups then take out the trash. I run down the stairs then i run back up again two at a time then one at a time alternating with each flight. Fyi we live on th 10th floor. Then i have bran, no sugar and ginger tea. When we drive to campus i make sure to take the stairs to the top studio again on the 9th floor. I have cut out fizzy drinks and sweets in general and try really hard to eat three times a day with 2 litres of water inbetween...the secret i think is the water. I dont know the science of it but im an abysmal water drinker. I barely manage a glass every other day. This new flood in my system makes me feel less greasy and sends me to the bathroom alot. Have been at this for 2 weeks or so but plan to stick to it and throw in a run on top of my nightly workout. I miss walking a few miles like i did when i was alone but them stairs keep my blood moving and i feel great for the fact i ignore elevators on instinct by now.

Good effort putting things in your daily routine. and yes water i without doubt the most important muscle building/fat loss ingredient as it helps everything. Youve inspired to be honest as since ive come back from uni ive fallen back into the 10 cups of tea/coffe a dy with maybe a glass of water in between.

Yeh A friend of mine and my brother actually prefer the competitive side of sport. I hate running but can throw myself around a football (soccer for the record) pitch, with little skill it has to be said, for many hours.

Anyway like I said I spent the day helping my brother do up his new house and had to scrape everything off the walls as the plasterer is coming soon. Technically not a workout though my arms are tired. I will try and do my alloted workout later and try to dodge Rome TW 'just one more turn....6 hours later' syndrome.

Biked out to an appointment, then took a walk near the river to read.
I'll be heading out on foot to get food later.

Let me tell you, when your average daily caloric intake is supposed to be around 3000, living off 7-800 calories really fucking sucks. I AM SO FUCKING HUNGRY!

Dude... wat? You should be running a caloric deficit of about 100 to 200 calories a day - not 2200. By eating a little less than you use, you slowly consume your own fat reserves and your body doesn't mind that so much. Right now you've basically tricked your body into believing it's starving and it's going to employ every non-weight losing trick in the book to deal with that starvation.

The slight caloric deficit has the advantage of you not being super hungry at all times.

After a long weekend trip in which I made it to six different states in four days, I'm finally back home and back in an environment I can alter to my liking. I ate like shit during the trip, multiple meals at IHOP, Wendy's and McD's, drank a few beers and sat in the car for the long drives. The flip side is that I didn't put on more than a pound or two, but I know the effects of sitting on my ass that long will show up in due time at BJJ and in my daily life.

So yesterday, I made it to BJJ class for two hours plus of decently strenuous exercise and learning. Jacked up my hand, but with some buddy taping, I'm good. Also ate Raisin Bran with some organic whole milk, two tuna sandwiches made by hand and on 12 grain bread, some eggs with co-op tomatoes and onions and some more choc milk and whole milk.

I've also snacked on some mixed nuts and some water.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Huh, why did I never put this together before. Crazy, makes perfect sense. I'm one of those who starves myself, but yeah this sounds like it makes more sense.

Thanks Amph.

Currently doing 5 Kilometers on the treadmill + 5km Reclining cycle before and after to warm up and cool down 3 times a week. Desperately trying to get my stamina back. Can now run the 5 kloms in just over 38 minutes and am aiming to hit 30 minutes before the end of the month.

At the moment foodwise Its anything goes really, but I just aquired PX90 training program thingy and will be eating 5 times a day and exercising like crazy, well at least that's the plan ;)

I've picked up a lot of bulk recently, too many pizzas and not enough sweat, so I'll go for the be doing the fat reduction route and once that's up I'll build up my muscle.

If anyone is interested in a good training music thingy the nike 10k tread training by Jay Blahnik ( think that's how to write his name) is pretty damn awesome. Its half an hour of good blood pumping music and the coaching in it is simply fantastic. My designer gave me a copy, but internet savvy people such as yourselves shouldnt have a problem finding it on the interweb.

Yeh I meant to comment on this. A massive caloric deficit such as this puts your body into starvation mode. Like Amph said this is so counter productive like the Atkins diet. Your body will then cling to the food you do eat when you get off this fad diet andyou will end up potentially gaining weight.

this is how people yo yo diet all the time. Make a massive change, cut there calories to a ridiculous amount then are hungry and miserable for however long they can stomach is. At most cut your calories by 3-400 for a set period of time and try to make sure what you do eat is whole food rather than processed junk.

In other news im really too tired to train but because feel obliged to after starting this thread. Already a positive benifit.

Besides all the workouts, one of the big things me and the ole lady have done is cut out all meats but grilled chicken and fish for almost every meal (on saturday nights we get whatever we want).

Its amazing how good fish/shrimp is for you. Low in calories, very low in fat and high in protein. Along with all the omega 3 acids thats good for your heart and stuffs.

We also switched from 3 large meals a day to 5 or 6 smaller ones.. Some people call it grazing. Basically, when your hungry your brain tells your body to store fat. If your eating more often it raises your metabolism and helps you burn more calories and store less fat.

Try almonds, tuna fish, making big meals on Sunday and portioning them out over the next few days.

Also, very nice job keeping the one cheat day. That flexibility makes it a lot easier to keep the system going.

Yeah, almonds or sunflower seeds are almost a daily snack. I'm also loving Tuna steaks. Just mix up a good rub and cook it on the grill. Fantastic.

Just 3rding or 4thting that thats extremely unhealthy. Not just the caloric restriction, but its unhealthy for your body to lose that much weight that fast.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

There's a lotta talk about intermittent fasting and how it might actually be pretty good. I'm sorta too lazy to do it right now, but in the future, I'll play around with it (remembering that with the fasting come times for feasting, so I get what fuel I need for the week).

Don't tell your gf you were busy with strange beavers at crotch height.

In other news, my main problem is that I'm trying to ditch my coffee only breakfast for some more healthy yoghurt + dried fruit liquid breakfast, but it is hard to shake that habit as my stomach positively turns at the idea of food at 7.45 am.
I have completely given up crisps/ chips and replaced them with (salted) cucumber (when alone, in company, I snack along). I mostly drink tea so there's no fizzy drink calory problem for me. In my evening meals and lunch, there was very little to gain as I diversify a lot and eat lots of vegetables and small sized portions already.
The one big killer for me is drink. I manage to stick to the healthy ratio of one glass of red wine per day on weekdays, but at party time, which often starts early in the afternoon when combined with watching football/rugby, there's a beer going through the system, and I'm very, very bad at going teetotal until a certain time or from a certain point onwards for the sake of going teetotal.

Excersizewise, I'll probably will start some interval training soon, when I've bought some good running shoes. Will use the built up in stamina for high speed recreational cycling, most likely.

and boom they weight comes back and up in notime.

Also, if you are following your intense workout programme while being on this strict regime of caloric restriction, your body is not only going to take the energy out of the fat (which is great) but also starts sucking out energy from crazy places like ligaments and degradation of muscle for amino acids/proteins, since fat and carbs cannot be converted into protein/amino acids. You won't be able to build muscle or sustain the level you're at if you don't give it at least the minimal amount of essential proteins and fats. Be careful with that- this can also lead to malnutrition of important essential minerals such as Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, plus the vitamins. I agree with all the posts about "healthy" food, minimally processed and self-cooked, lots of fruit, and raw veg too (beetroot, carrots etc), and nuts/seeds and dried fruit as snacks. They are wonderful little powerpacks, and you get them in all shapes and flavours. You can cut out on carbs to some degree, and replace rice with barley, quinoa, buckwheat etc, lots of beans, chickpeas, lentils if you like that kind of stuff, and meat and soy products. Much better than any super-processed snack bar with 10 kg of sugar in a 100g bar. Stay away from hydrogenated fats or margarine- much better to use some olive oil, or rapeseed, sunflower, hazelnut etc oil instead, or real butter.

And then again- don't forget to enjoy live and I believe a piece of nice cake every now and then just doesn't harm anyone. And who wants to die healthy.

Jesus, people, it's not like I am stating this is my favorite way to eat and lose weight. It's an experiment. It's fun to try something different once in a while. Do something extreme. I know very well that it's not healthy to lose more than a kilo a week. That doesn't mean you can't go nuts once in a while just for the heck of it. Next you'll be telling me bullemia isn't a valid weight loss programme ;)

Anyway, did a chest, biceps, abs programme today and finished off with 7 minutes on a rowing machine and 7 minutes on a treadmill.

Your right doing something extreme is good, as a point to prove to yourself sometimes which is what ive done in the past. Its just that you seemed so miserable that you should know its not the only way to do it ;) .

How does your chest etc workout look? Also are you mainly concerned with fat loss.

Ive been helping my brother again with his house and destroyed his fireplace and stripped all the layers off the walls. Really sore arms and shoulders from repetitive motions but doing some barbell stuff as I couldnt do it last night as my step mum fell asleep. Really CBA but needs must

I might be in the minority but I'm trying to put on some weight. I lost a few lbs over the summer (and I didn't need to) and now most of my clothes - especially the trousers - don't fit any more. I look like someone vacuumed my ass off of my body, sigh. ;) But other than stuffing my face with junk food, I'm not sure how to go about putting it back on, and back where I want it to go to, not just my stomach and / or thighs. Bah.

That said, I do walk quite a bit every day so I do get some exercise, for what it's worth.

I walk about 6 miles a day, because I don't have a car. That's my exercise.

I've thought about working out, but honestly don't have a convenient way to go about it.

Back into playing soccer here in Ireland. Nice black and blue leg from my first game back on the wing (how the guy wasn't sent off i don't know). Certainly a different level of football compared to New Zealand at least in terms of physicality. Had training tonight which was light since we're playing on Saturday.

I'm probably about 10 kgs overweight at the moment, so i need to seriously drop some weight over the next month (but not drop it too fast either, a tough balance). Apparently I'll be playing Munster Senior League (which is the level just below League of Ireland) this weekend, and it's gonna take whatever experience i have to not get embarrassed on the field. Just gave my bike in to be fixed up so i can have a low/no impact way to do some decent cardio on the days between soccer training. Plus i find the cycling gets my legs good and strong and i have less injuries.

I had managed to give up fizzy drinks for nearly 2 years, but unfortunately gave in to temptation since i got back to Ireland. Gonna try and eliminate junk food entirely, but i'll need to have my healthy alternatives like carrots, or maybe some apples.

It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt - Mark Twain

Never argue with an idiot!
They'll drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience!
