This game is due out in a few weeks (August 26 in UK). Anyone else looking forward to it?

On the basis of the previews I've seen so far, and my memories of the original, it looks very, very promising.

Preordered a couple of days ago. I've always said Deus Ex could do with a sequel, and it's always confused me why there hasn't been one yet. Still, this looks fantastic.

Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

i missed out on deus ex. Heard it was an awesome game. Cant wait to try it.

I won't be buying it immediately, since I've added it to my list of PC games to be played only when I've upgraded to a new stationary gaming pc, but I really am hoping this lives up to the legacy.

Recently a new "HD" mod for Deus Ex has been released. I'm kind of thinking of doing a play through of the old game, just to get reacquainted with the old game. On the other hand, I'm also afraid that replaying it might ruin some of the fond memories I have of the game. It's been some 9 years since I played it. That's a long time in videogame development.

In anticipation I went out an bought E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy since it looks sort of like Deux Ex's old gameplay, only with more focus on shooting dudes with machineguns. Haven't played it yet though since there's a lot of bugs that are supposed to get fixed in a patch that should be released any day now.

I actually heard that they were working on a sequel in the mid 2000s, with a working tittle called Invisible War. Unfortunately it was cancelled because the developers didn't want to release a shoddy console focused piece of shit.

The invisible war sequel was released in 2003. It's on steam for $10 I think. It's reviews weren't as high as the original but they were still fairly positive I think.

I just started Deus ex yesterday and its quite fun so far.

Apt, I acknowledge your sarcasm. Also curious about your new name.

Deus Ex: Invisible War was a clear step down from the original in terms of gameplay, it was dumbed down and many valued aspects removed. But the story was good, even if the treatment of JC Denton didn't sit well.

i'm in the same boat as Apt. I'm eager for the game, but won't be getting it until I build a new desktop next summer.

I hear many good things about it though. I've been following the official forum for quite some time. a lot of fans of the original, who were sceptical of this, now swear the devs pulled off the Deus Ex "feel" after having some hands on time with the leaked build.

It still holds up surprisingly well, I run through it every couple of years. Planning on a last play with the Shifter mod and the HD pack before I get around to HR.

I'm playing Deus Ex right now. It's extremely old but I'm loving the multiple options I have. I'm still in the first area with the statue of liberty. Very iconic level. Just tried zapping a crooked UNATCO guard who was trying to sell me a sniper riffle he found but unfortunately I couldn't loot it off his unconcious body.

It's funny even after all these years, and I know the robots wont hurt me, I'm still tippy toeing around them.

Ever tried to play through the early levels without killing, Apt? It's not easy, but you feel a real sense of achievement when Paul gives you a pat on the back.

I'm pretty sure you can make it through almost the entire game without killing anyone, right to the final boss, even if (plot spoilers)

I'm debating a replay, but I'm stuck on whether or not to pick a GEP gun or a sniper rifle at the start, let alone skills, nanomods and playstyle.

The patch for EYE was released yesterday, so I've put Deus Ex away until I've tried this game out.

Managed to put a couple hours into it this evening, it's extremely clunky and buggy but it oozes passion. Just finished the first level with barely any health left. I have no idea how to heal myself. I suck at the hacking system. The enemies kept flanking me. Still I fought my way through. If that level had been a bit more distinct and not just a bunch of warehouses and ruins I would call that level as great an intro as Deus Ex. It's sort of like a military shooter vs the hacking minigames of Bioshock vs the mechanics of Deus Ex vs the powers of Crysis vs a techno babble version of Warhammer 40K.

You sort of have to love a game that, when you put on heavy armor, makes it sound like your weigh a ton when you jump. At one point I ambushed a bunch of looters by jumping down between them with a katana shouting HULK SMASH! I landed with a boom and proceeded to chop souy their asses, like a bionic ninja. Feels good man.

Imma wait a bit before I buy it. Got to stabilize living a bit, and that includes expenses. Definately getting it sometime this year though.

Sniper Rifle. Far more useful than the GEP gun, cool as that was.

Reconsidered on the GEP gun. You can loot a rifle very quickly in the first level, one of the NSF patrolling the grounds has one. Whereas that's the only early opportunity to get the heavy weaponry.
