to clarify:

If two players of different factions, in the same location or adjacent locations, use the same standard action on each other it will create a Duel (if the NA is heal or kill) or Debate (if the NA is guard or find). This can occur between any two players of different factions who are capable of performing standard actions, or between players of the same faction if they try to kill each other.

this if from the OP. you should not be affected by my healing action.

Ma Dai and Zhao Yun are engaging in a Duel!

Zhao Yun is victorious!

Sheltatha Lore (HiddenOne) is dead. She was Ma Dai, Ghost of Wu Wei, a Champion of Ma Chao's forces.

Ma Chao's forces have been eradicated

After crushing all his opponents in the field, all that was left for Gongsun Zan was to chase down the fleeing Xia Emperor, Yuan Tan. Scouts reported that Tan had fled west and was on the road beyond Luo Yang. Gongsun Zan dispatched one squadron of cavalry to harry the fugitive while another raced past and intercepted Yuan Tan at the entrance to reach Han Gu Pass.

Victorious, Gongsun Zan brought his forces to Xu Chang, the city that would be his new seat of power. Gongsun Zan had the former Xia ruler moved to Xu Chang and brought to a compound surrounded by luxurious outer walls giving the impression of a palace within. Yuan Tan was brought into the walled, guarded compound where there was nothing but plain buildings. He saw a frail-looking Huang Zhong being forcefully escorted somewhere by guards. Gongsun Zan showed him to a small one-room shelter devoid of furniture or hangings and with not even a trough for bodily waste. Zan said, "This home has been waiting for you for some time. Here you will live out the rest of your life with all the world knowing I am treating you well but none but me seeing you slowly starve in your own filth." Yuan Tan replied, "Had I been victorious and you become my vassal, you would have received far better treatment than this." The Emperor laughed mercilessly and left. Gongsun Zan and his commanders spent coin from the public treasury on the richest food and drink that could be found and feasted long into the night, exchanging stories of killing, humiliating and raping the people of the middle kingdoms. Gongsun Zan jokingly enfeoffed Zhao Yun as King of Yi, then outlined to his commanders his plan for a new system of nobility and privilege for them across the realm. Surviving high ministers from the Xia, Yan and Lu were brought to the celebration and forced to perform humiliating acts for the northerners' entertainment.

Thereafter, the three kingdoms came under the rule of the White Rider lord, Gongsun Zan, who rode roughshod over the people and travelled about the realm inventing stories of rebellion to excuse his raiding of various cities. The realm, run out of soldiers and heroes alike, submitted to the tyrannical rule of Zan and his commanders, thereby fulfilling the saying, "The empire, long united, must divide, and long divided, must unite." Huang Zhong, the Illustrious Emperor of the Yan, passed away within the year. Lady Zhang, ruler of Lu, continued to live in captivity in Wu Wei, abused daily by former commanders of Ma Chao who had fled there with their prize after news of Ma Chao's defeat reached them. Yuan Tan, ruler of Xia, calmly accepted his captivity in Xu Chang for two decades until a drunken Gongsun Zan decided to have him flayed alive for amusement.

Gongsun Zan's forces are victorious!

great game, guys.

even though I didn't win, it was incredibly enjoyable.

great play by everyone. Except Khell. he was on par with his card, but he sure was hella fun to read.

Obdi, Venge, Bubba, Edrigan, MTS, I'm sorry I couldn't pull it off.

Congratulations White Riders. May your tyrannical rule last for a thousand years :unworthy:

Man of the Match is Ment for me.....if only we had crucified him during comma-gate - how different this game might have turned out :p

D'rek, this is by far the most epic, wonderfully scripted, ingeniously crafted, game that I have participated in, you should be very proud. And thanks also to ST for his excellent modding help. I'm sorry D'rek for not being worthy of the fantastic role you gave me.

Rep is coming, though with the number of players expect this to take a few days.....

I agree on MotM there - Ment controlled this game almost all the way through, but the Xia-Yan conflagration on Luo Yang was vicious enough for the White Riders to skate through.

Thanks for creating such a fantastic game, D'rek. I had fun playing (albeit not for very long) and I had fun modding too :). Trust me to get voted off on Day 1 of the longest game I've ever been involved in... :unworthy: Itching to play again now (although I'd prefer something more M&P).

A few points to take from the game:

- Self-healing abilities are way overpowered. 3 out of the last 5 in the game is pretty clear evidence of that. Giving someone the equivalent of infinite BPs is never going to end well, especially given that their presence wasn't advertised. If people know that someone has self-heal they can counter by guarding, so the lack of information on that score made those roles even more powerful. You might not get away with it in a small game, but in such a large game it's too easy to escape attention during the day and cruise to the end game. I guess it could be argued that the Warlords were at a serious disadvantage otherwise since their factions were so small, but it still felt like too much to me.

- The movement system is a pretty cool mechanic, but it does put serious limitations on the success of night actions. I think part of the reason watching the Night Actions was somewhat frustrating to watch was that the vast majority of the players didn't really have a good way of obtaining information about the location of other players. Those that did (ie. the Yan through the Illumination action) had a pretty huge advantage in the early game, and they were using that to great effect until they all got moved the Xin Du. Without that, I would have expected them to steamroller the Lu. Later illuminations were available to the Xia as well, which helped move the game in the direction it did (as players started to figure out who was on their teams).

- People are too willing to assume that teams are symmetrical. That is an easy way of assuring balance, it's true, but it's not the only one and in a game that has had this much thought put into it really shouldn't be expected. It was very noticeable that people were too willing to take opinions floated on thread as fact (I thought people did a good job avoiding this in the first few days, but by the end it was in full force).

ST
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

This was a lot of fun to watch and participate in. This game will be long remembered.

Well I have to agree with the triple fail points but it would have to be directed towards the Xia emperor. One for almost getting yourself lynched day one, two for not listening to your people (namely me) and three for using those damn fricken catapults almost every fricken night. :p

Great game everyone. That was fun. I would play that game again in a heartbeat. Thanks D'rek for a great experience. I now wish I had played a few more of these games instead of just the last two.
I don't know what I'm doing but it sounds good.
