The middle of a battle was not usually seen as the best place for a political discussion, but Ma Zhong was confident enough in his martial skill to divert some attention to another commander who approached. "What you say may be true, sir, but there are definitive tactical benefits that we have gained from this manoeuvre as well." "But why here? This same thing could have been launched from Jian Ye, Shou Chun, even Xiang Yang! If Liu Yao does not return, there is no way out by sea." "Then we shall cut our way out by land, with spear, dagger and tooth! Besides, Liu Yao has been our ally for decades, he would not turn on us now." "For decades indeed. He presents himself well when visitors are present, but outside the public eye he has become old and crippled. If he dies, will his successor still help us?"
Unfortunately, the discussion ended there. Ma Zhong, confident of his martial abilities indeed, had remained out of range of any of the enemy soldiers. He had not noticed the arrival of general Yan Liang, who could wield a longbow 8 spans tall, nor had he noticed the general stringing, nocking or firing the bow. He most certainly noticed the arrow embedding itself in Zhong's gut, after which he toppled from the saddle before he could give response to the other commander.
Sorrit (Tattersail) is dead. He was Ma Zhong, General Who Preserves the Realm, a Civil Officer of the Yan Dynasty.

I think we just witnessed a duel here, most likely a debate... That would be the first of the game, I think?

This is wild, it feels like so much has happened but there are still 17 people left! What a game.

I thought it might be too but when I looked back only one had voted in that lynch the other hadn't which made me think that maybe they weren't the only intimately linked/ same alt'd player.
Managed to catch some time this afternoon to catch up with all the shenanigans, makes for very amusing reading. I'm too wondering about how much was trying to serve his faction and how much was genuine hints and clues and the mysterious 'Telas is barbarian' hint. I'm going to read over his posts and see if there is anything to arouse suspicion but whatever it is that he had on Telas that he couldn't reveal because of apparent implication is interesting since Tennes has already been mentioned, unless there is a third Khell

Nah, it's just the scene. A Duel/Debate would be more... obvious.

20 users online?
@ Korlat -Telas has seemed squeaky clean so far, to me. I looked back briefly and didn;t find anything that stood out. Noncommittal or smooth? I don;t know.

The long weekend was a bit crazy, but not so much as the thread was with Khell's antics. And three Yan down in one day/night. Wow. Will have to do a reread of that mess once I have time.

I'm not sure why he decided to single me out. Might simply be because I voted for him around the same time he had his little brain fart which led to that whole aneurysm of his.
In my humble opinion the barbarians have gotten way to easy a ride so far and it is about time we got one or three of them lynched. They're starting to get as large as some of the families and yet there's been not a whiff of pressure in that direction.
Now I'm sure its tempting to jump on me as my name has come up, this after all has been a game with many a joyful unanimous lynch. However, my faction should be fairly obvious at this point I think and it's not like we're in any position to claim the victory at this point.

i am back. my flight was delayed, due to the most ridiculous lineup in customs imaginable. as a result, i'm late for my morning class, and am now free for the next 4.5 hours, since i'm not gonna go to 1.5 h class with30 mins left.
another yan down isn't too surprising--there's a whole lot of them, and the less of us there are left, the more telling their numbers will be.
i tried to do a re-read, yeasterday, and one hting that jumped out was this: Galain attacked meanas using the quote from the OP that said all civvies and generals get the location of their emperor. then he jumped on Meanas saying he knew his emperor's location. this was the basis of Galain's accusation of Meanas, which then suggested that he was a warlord. now, that in itself is interesting, but then at this point Okaros really jumped out of the woodwork to deflect from Galain to Meanas.
I'm thinking that if Galain is a warlord, then Okaros is his champion. his style of play is reminiscent to that of a careful killer--he's around not too much, he posts content, but doesn't really ruffle any feathers.
i'll leave it up for discussion, but I think Okaros may be a good champion target.

mind you, i'm not sure about this. There are still several players I can't quite place. and since I can't place them with a middle kingdom, I have to think they are in an outsider faction.
that being said, I think we should take stock of all our options. i'm curious what do people like Kaschan and Ruse think about the game.

Do warlords not have some kind of power? Night kills don't seem to be doing much at the moment, very few have actually happened.

Hey checking in before class. Figure I should address Emur and Sil's suspicions about me.
So are you implying that we should go for Okaros or Galain?
if im right, then I'd say okaros is a bigger threat, since he can kill.
I understand that Emur's approach to this game is to nudge players into action, but his/her suggested case (that I am playing careful) seems insufficient to conclude that I am a barbarian. As far as I am concerned, everyone should be playing careful. I must add that I have scanned the previous pages looking for my post which supposedly deflected from Galain, but I am not sure which post you are talking about. Maybe you could provide a quote so I can clear some of this up?
I should also mention that I do not have the ability to kill. Not like an ability like that would be very useful, seeing as night actions are fairly calm.
In regards to Sil's post. "are you implying that we should go for Okaros or Galain?" I must ask if you are in a rush to start a train, or if you are just that eager to let Emurlahn lead you? I wonder at such an obvious statement; I could just be reading into things.
I'll be around for an hour or so before class for discussion.
