Rake Dragon from Malazan-Art-Guild contest

Hello again! :p

This is my entry for the current Malazan-Art-Guild Contest "Dragons!" on deviantART

Rake in his dragon-form spitting darkness. (I added stars for looking-goodness).
I didn't paint his rearside because of an attack of anatomy/perspective fail, but I assure you, it's there.

Wow, great job! I think you nailed the "silver mane" that I have always had trouble visualizing. Pretty awesomely terrifying! Would love to see what you can do with the body/wings if you ever get the inspiration.

Very nice, though I imagine if it was to be 'realistic' most of him should be black as midnight. With no moon. And with heavy overcast. In the hinterlands.
Wouldn't be very artistic, though, I think. :]
It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; because there is not effort without error and shortcomings; but who does actually strive to do the deed; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotion, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement and who at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly. So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat.

@circlebinder: Thanks! I'm not very experienced in drawing fur, so the mane looks a bit anime-ish to me, but thats all I can do for now... I was thinking about doing a full body shot, but all my scetches looked kind of static and I wanted ACTION. :p rawr!

"with sparkles" looks great, I agree you did a good job with the mane. The one suggestion I would have is maybe change the color of his eyes, red looks good but I'm not sure it's featured on Rake's palette. Don't take my word for it though :p

I think Rake's palette changes with mood, right? Should carry over to dragon form, I think.

Ha, and here I was sitting, worrying about malazan ultra fans who nitpick about the eternal darkness beeing not eternal and not dark enough. Pwew!
