Watched Goblin Slayer ep 1...
THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY!
DUDE!
To back the admittedly slightly fascistic campaign of the Slayer, you must first understand why he hates the Goblins with such vehemence.
Also I complain about 'where Kamuy S2' and later that day it drops. Niceu.
I mean, given that goblins have a tendency of doing this thing often, i can understand our Knights personal quest. Greater atrocities and genocides have been waged for far less. (usually for less noble intentions as well)
Im slightly curious now about whether a fantasy series exists where on the one hand, you have the goblins Dolmen is talking about vis a vis a fascist dictatorship intent on wipping out these goblins. You'd think with such an obvious threat and the racial aspect, humanity would easily go onto a crusade of sorts to exterminate goblins.
That would be REALLY interesting to watch/read.
especially if they focused on analogues for each races MC, i.e. show savage goblins decimate Human MC's family then switch to crusade Human retaliation on peaceful Goblin Tribe leaving Goblin MC to fend for him/herself.
This would need an Abercrombie-esque approach to wars. No preaching of morals, just pure character growth through tough decisions in tough situations.
having the MC's actually become as bad as the war acts that made them would add that extra bit of spice...
The amount of people getting very upset by the content of GS is kind of irksome. Like, sure, I get that it's unpleasant and will very much upset certain people, and they're not wrong for it to upset them.
But when people start saying the content is glorified, that it's 'rape culture', my eyes roll so far into the back of my head that I can actually see my brain. Yes, it's used as a vehicle to show us why the goblins are horrendous little bastards. But it's also not gloried or celebratory at all. It's horrific. The way the scene plays out evokes, to me at least, a reminiscence of Glokta's torture.
Anyway, Kamuy S2E1 was... erm... Fleshy.
I can understand Goblin Slayer not being everyone's cup of tea. It is graphic, but thats the point. This isn't your DnD campaign where your group of adventurers just kills the goblins and lives through a few mishaps. It demonstrates that this is a DnD type world with brutal consequences. Its graphic, but I also would not say it's Gratuitous like in say Ninja Scroll.
Also GOlden Kamuy
Precisely. It was a scene designed for pure horror, and pure horror is how it was delivered. GS' actions with the younglings can be viewed in similarly disturbing terms (to an extent) but by this stage, hecc them gobbos.

Has anyone watched the new Jojo season yet? Interested in watching previous seasons and wondering if it is worth watching.

Enjoying season 5 with only 1 ep in. The series seems to be going back to its roots so to speak
Yeah Part 5 is solid so far. It follows a predictable format in JoJo where the deut starts off as an enemy (this isn't a spoiler because EVERY JoJo part starts like this - Speedwagon, Shiza (where have I seen that name before), Kakyoin, Okuyasu.
Anyway, I picked up My Sister, My Writer because I'm degenerate enough to enjoy siscons about authors, and Conception.
