Holy crap that was brutal. They should give out free hugs with this show somehow.

Respawn point became the apple guy instead of the bed at Cruscz's house, but it's effectively the same thing: Emilia and Roswaal have already left, Subaru and Rem can just barely make it to the mansion in-time, but they'll be intercepted by the cultists as they approach.

Possibly they could find a way to sneak past if they don't take the main road, get to Roswaal and warn them in time... but I doubt they'll go that route. Subaru is too crazy-obsessed with killing Betelgeuse now, he won't go for a plan like that... he'll go for some kind of attacking and killing Betelgeuse directly, but who knows how yet. One crazy plan I could see him doing would be to stay in the city, train with the butler and Felis, and kill himself over and over until he masters swordsmanship and enough counter-magic to beat Betelgeuse. It would be horrific to kill himself that many times, but I could see him doing something insane like that in his current state. We'll see!

And wow, Puck can become HUUUUGE. I guess I'm not surprised that Puck turned out to be more than just a regular spirit, but killing the entire countryside with a sudden lethal blizzard after Emilia dies is more than I expected!

Given the shape that was coming out of the mansion, is it such a throw that Puck might actually be The Dragon? It'd make sense why Emilia is in the Royal Selection.

And it wasn't enough to have to see Rem die (and see her sister's corpse) once, was it? No, let's do it again.

I see now why my chum Lannister-chan has referred to this as the 'Sufferu arc'. What started as lighthearted and goofy fun has turned dark and brutal as fuck.

I don't think Puck would be the dragon. Kinda defeats the purpose of even having a selection for priestess+king/queen of the dragon if the dragon has already chosen to be the familiar of one candidate, doesn't it?

But you do bring up an interesting point of how might this relate to the candidate selection and dragon. Roswaal wants to kill the dragon... maybe unleashing Puck is how he plans to do it - once Emilia becomes the candidate and the dragon is summoned, Roswaal suddenly kills Emilia, which unleashes uber-Puck, which kills everything around him including the dragon...?

Yeah, maybe. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see. My theory is purely going by appearances at the episode end.

So I finished the Water Book from Avatar:TLA. I really really liked it. The show seemed to get darker after starting off on a fairly kiddish note. I think the finale showed that the dangers were very much real and after this things will only get worse

It's fantastic, and really was designed so that the story grew up with it's target audience. This makes me want to watch the whole series again, lol!

Halfway into the Earth book of Avatar:TLA.

This show is soooo good. I mean Season 1 was good, but this is great! I love the developing character arcs.

I am absolutely hooked on Zukoh and Iroh. I am heavily invested in their development. Hope they get a happy ending.

So I finished Avatar: TLA

Wow. Just wow.

I thought the end of Season 2 was great. Season 3 was absolute gold. From character arcs to battles, everything was excellent. I think this is one of the best shows I have ever seen animated or non animated.

Iroh - my god - that scene in BaSingSe where he mourns his son...

Aang and Katara's romance was so cute and I am kind of happy they did a slow burn on it.

Ssoka is a character I so strongly identify with. He comes up with the plans, he never shies away from danger even though he is not a bender, - that guy deserves more recognition.

A couple of question: How did Azula know the eclipse invasion was coming?
What was that huge Lionturtle that gave Aang the idea of removing the Firelords bending?

Also do we ever find out what happened to Zuko's mother?

azula found out as aang had told the earth kingdom king about it and he blabbed on about it while she was in ba sing se.

Lionturtles IIRC are ancient beings who would have helped teach bending in the yonder years (dont quote me on this)

For zukos mom theres graphic novels that depic the story behind it.

Berserk is turning out to be pretty good so far in spite of the weird animation.

Tried the first episode of Alderamin on the Sky - this seems like it'll be decent.

Like, slow down there jello-boy, how about trying a little "I can't explain but the mansion and town are going to be attacked! We need to go to Defcon 3! Please Emilia, I know it's weird but even if I'm lying simply being prepared for an attack that doesn't happen can't hurt!"

Maybe I'll feel bad for him again when he dies, wakes up in the mansion next to Ram and realizes {a} he can never go back to save Rem, and {b} no one else will ever remember Rem.

I watched the first season of Attack on Titan and I thought it was pretty amazing. So naturally I started reading the manga because I wanted to see where the story was going, and I usually prefer the book anyway. (This is also true for the DB manga.)

I think the AOT manga actually diminished my appreciation for the story at least a little bit. Isayama seems to be one of those writers who likes to infodump character justifications. Lots of people in the WoT fandom have complained about Brandon Sanderson's habit of doing this, but Isayama is way worse than Brandon ever was; the justifications get a little convoluted and don't always make a whole lot of sense. I doubt it's a matter of translation issues; the facial expressions are usually a part of what irks me. It's like everyone's always coming to these amazing profound conclusions; it's a drama tactic that doesn't really work for me.

The anime had a few things that struck me as overdone (like Armin's plea to the garrison on behalf of Eren in Trost, and the repetition of the lines about "humanity was reminded" and "those who cannot abandon" etc.) but the pros far outweighed the cons. 9/10 Will Keep Watching.

Considering that about 80% of the episode was an extended dialogue between Subaru and Rem, it worked surprisingly well. I'm not really suspicious of Rem at this stage; her defining character trait is loyalty, after all. And it's good to see Subaru finally stop Kaladinning at long last.

Edit: Oh and I finished MonMusu last week. Not even ashamed. That was fun. Weird, super fucked up fun.
