My version of "long" is One Piece and that ilk. One Piece is in the 740s as of right now. Other shows like Naruto are in the mid 400s.

So 27 episodes is a small investment of time and attention in comparison.

And here I am, struggling to get through 12 and 24 episode shows!

Hmm, I seem to have caused quite cascade of Gundam lists. I will have to revisit this area later.

All this talk about Gundam makes me nostalgic for my early teens and 24 hours anime on Animax. Get Backers was my favourite. Why didn't they make more of it? I loved Ban. I even dressed like him for a bit.

Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai X as I called it was awesome as well. The series ending was a bit of a damper though. The arc really peaked with Shishio and Shogo Amakhuza

Well sure, but *most* anime are one or only a few cours long. Those long-form serial shows and the decades-long episodic shows like Pokemon and Detective Conan are comparatively few.

So I wouldn't call Gurren Lagann "short". I would call Gurren Lagann a "normal" length, FLCL "short" (but not "a short" like Teekyuu is), One Piece "long" and Ninja Rantarō "ludicrously long"

It's good. Even better if you go into it with no spoilers, no hype, no expectations at all, really. The combat in it is really fun, and the setting is fairly intriguing (though it is not very complex). I would say its strongest aspect is that the main characters end up having to deal with realistic limitations to their ability to act - this world will not simply let a trio of 12-year-olds go off on their own. On the other hand, this means that there is not exactly a clear overall plan/goal for them - fairly early on there's one long-term objective revealed but they can't realistically expect to resolve it for a long time in the plot due to that same 'realism'. The characters are also a bit one-dimensional... so it's really more the setting and episode-to-episode plot that need to keep you watching, not the characters or overall story. Definitely still worth checking out, I think.

Since I know absolutely nothing about it, I don't think the spoiler part is going to be a problem.

LoGH is "long" for me @ 110 episodes.

Mind my daily watching is 3-4 episodes/ weekday, usually more on the weekend, where I'd watch an episode in between doing work -w episode/ 50-100 page of stuff I need to go through.

Gurenn Laga woul take me 2 weeks tops, prolly.

@ Ando: my first "anime" . Voltron followed by tramsformers. I'm all about the mecha. One of my probably now dead external hardrives even had Ninja Robots on it.

At some point i'm probably gonna go on a Gundam binge, rewatching all them starting from Wing.

Only one I'm staying away from is the original UC continuity. With my OCD for this sor of thing I'd have to collect all the shows and OVAs and watch it chronologically, which is a ludicrous project. Not to mention not all of it is probably fansubbed, so I'd have to learn Japanese in the process.

Excellent. Don't get tempted/careless halfway through watching it, though. E.g. if you really like the opening song and decide to listen to it on Youtube while you're partway through, don't read the comments because there's a good chance there will be trolls posting spoilers in those comments (Attack on Titan has been a lot worse for this than most shows... I guess mainstream popularity results in more trolls).

Point noted.

I will start a new series - possibly Titan, then a Gundam as soon as I finish one on my "now watching" list.

Just saw episode 4 of Bahamut. Just keeps on getting better. At first I thought this would be an action/comedy but there are some pretty serious storylines and a really epic feel to it all.

The animation quality is really good, especially how they show terrain and water. The difference between this and Berserk is really stark once seen back to back.

Also the music is excellent!

Yeah, Shingeki no Bahamut is bloody good. When it first aired, absolutely no one was expecting it to be any good, either, since it was based on and paid for by a smartphone card game app of the same name (and the app game is really bad). But it turns out the app developers gave the anime creators free reign to make their own story and choose which cards to be characters, and they came up with a beautifully animated world and amazing characters. And, as you say, the music is incredible.

I see your Shingeki No Bahamut OST and raise you one Tokyo Ghoul OST.

Just watched eps 4 of Kouetsujou no Cabaneli. It was FANTASTIC! the Wazatori concept was a great development.

SUPER ZOMBIES FTW!!!

That is all. :p

Finished 7 episodes of Bahamut and just had to pop in to say how very very good it is. This world would be really cool for a fantasy book saga

I'm reading FoL and occasionally watching an episode of Gurenn Lagann. I'm a man of contrasts.

Not bad so far, but after really reserved and proper LoGH, the random fanservice moments are a tad jarring. Nice music though

So I finished Bahamut.

I couldn't help it. I marathoned through it. It was great but I really wish they had given Joan a bigger role.

So now I am considering which one to give a higher priority - Fate, Black Lagoon or Berserk.

BTW has anyone read the Berserk manga?

Is the story different in the manga? I have only read the very first portion but it differs from the first episode

Berserk anime only goes so far. Ep1 is very different but everything else follows the manga faithfully

Berserks manga does go alot further than the anime, I'd say the anime is a crash course introduction to the real story.

Like Claymore the anime was full of great performances and musical scores but also like Claymore the ending isn't an actual Ending. I highly reccomend picking up the manga immediately after watching the anime as the story gets soooo much more interesting from there.

(This advice for both shows)

The movies range from fairly good to great.

Miura will frustrate the faithful reader though.

Started JoJo's Bizarre Adventure last night. So far it's pretty mundane but I'm up to Ep4 now and things are starting to happen.

Finished the Helix King arc of "Gurenn Lagann". Fast-forwarded through the clip show/summary, and watched episode 1 of the next arc. Certainly did not expect all THAT.
