it's pretty obvious who the FT is. And the Colossal/Armoured. Coincidence that they look like certain characters? I think not.
I'm also warming to the second theme a little bit. It made a lot more sense when I considered it from the viewpoint of Dragonforce.
Spoiler
I can't think of any characters that are "little angry Scottish" though...?
But yes, you're probably right in your guesses.
Spoiler
Leonhart
looks / is the same height as a friend of mine who is little, angry and Scottish. I've been tormenting her with the reference today and it's been grand fun. If they didn't speak Japanese, that's pretty much the voice I've assigned to them in my head.
Ah, of course, I should've made the connection sooner since I know the descriptions of all of your friends
You must feel very foolish indeed now. You silly sausage.
Anyway, I finished up AoT S1 this morning. I don't know if S2 is out yet (it's certainly not on Netflix, alas), but I'm going to have a look at some of the prior recommendations made. The very ambiguous, Eriksonian ending to S1 was definitely good, and the scene where the Scouts return to the city (with the letter)? Damn. That was heavier than a bass tuned to drop F#.
finally managed to catch up on the thread, mafia was all i had time for, busy week for me (kinda glad i died early XD)
So whats the big deal with charlotte?
Glad mark enjoyed AoT, to answer your question, a season 2 was announced but it will be sometime before it comes out. There's been a few OVAs released http://anilinkz.tv/s...ngeki-no-kyojin
Look for those named ilse journal.Z
Also Afro Samurai is solid, i own it. Just don't watch the movie sequel its awful. After that of the recs provided i'd say claymore would be more up your alley

Attack on Titan season 2 is scheduled to come out in 2016.
As BL mentioned, they've done a few OVAs since:
--Ilse's Journal - which is a sort of mini-prequel and just establishes a bit of extra world-building
--Two short stories that happen during the 3 years the characters spent in training camp
--A series of OVAs that are Levi's origin story prequel
Not sure if any of those have been dubbed though, and they're probably not on Netflix.
There's also two movies, but as usual those are just the show clipped down into movie-size so pointless if you've already watched the show.
And finally, Production IG is going to be adapting and airing the Attack on Titan: Junior High Edition spin-off this fall.
No, really:

Ah, see I'm aware of Ilse's Journal and had wondered where that factored into the series.
As to dubs - well, the UK Netflix version is subbed and being that I've started there I may as well continue, otherwise the difference in voices will be very jarring.
And let's not forget the LA movies due out later this or next year. Whether those will be worthy of attention, I don't know.
Rokka no Yuusha episode 5 - Best anime episode that is nothing but people in a room talking ever! It was basically just watching 7 people play mafia and I loved it!
And now it is time to watch Shimoneta, and I am soooooo not ready for this. Predictions based on last week:
Spoiler
Well Anna is obviously pretty unknowingly repressed, but based on Ayame's reactions last week I think they're going to be going in the direction that Ayame likes making dirty jokes because it is edgy and fun to a teenager, but she actually isn't very 'dirty' at all... so like most teenagers, really.
Meanwhile, I expect Okuba to go into pretty much full self-blame mode, even though he shouldn't, and unfortunately put Anna on an even bigger purity pedestal, which will of course not help anything.
Edit: FOUR MINUTES IN AND ALREADY WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK

HAHAHAHAHA!
Yeah I totally saw that coming...
It was a great episode! Wheelbarrow scientist and her Horny Student Horde ftw!
Spoiler
Tanukuchi seems to have joined the cause in earnest. I like the dichotomy that is the Awakened Anna. She is both awesome and ridiculous. I mean she cut through a fencewire with a pair of scissors. Who even does that?! Love may give you wings but Anna could give the Hulk a run for his money.

Anime by people who make amazing emotional anime. I think most of us aren't watching it until it's complete though.

(That's not the only thing you saw coming)
And OF COURSE the cave looked like... that. Got to include the little details, right?
Spoiler
Yeah, Anna is surprisingly overpowered, they should really just find a way to convince her to blow up the morality police headquarters and she could do it bare-handed.
I wish we could see a bit more of what Tanukuchi is *really* thinking, it's hard to get a read on him. It's a bit weird for him to both be in denial to himself that he doesn't ever think or want dirty thoughts and at the same time think he is so unworthy to talk to Anna. I was wrong about him blaming himself for the incident, and him trying to go into denial that it even happened at first was fitting.
As humourous and ridiculous as it is, the situation between him and Anna now doesn't make that much sense. If she's that intent on him, how much can he really avoid her at school? It would be so much easier for him to just be like "Anna, stop for 1 minute, I love you too but I'm not ready to express it that energetically! Let's just hold hands for today!" If Anna is as great as he thinks she is, wouldn't she listen and understand?
Anyways, it's fine as is, but if they leave the Tanukuchi-Anna situation the way they've left it for now without resolution (which since they're setting up an Anna-NameToBeDetermined situation makes me think they will) it's going to lose plausibility.
As a total aside, the big orange mascot guys in the ED are awesome, I want one.

In other news, I watched the first five of episodes of Gate last night, and it's kind of awesome.
It's definitely got the SAO/Danmachi/NoGameNoLife vibe of "here's a fairly generic main character who's basically just a great guy that you can self-insert into, now let's stick him in a fantasy world that follows conventional tropes and let him be a hero plus collect women" thing going on. It's not particularly sophisticated and glosses over a fair bit of things (like nobody seems to care that they've just found someone who can do real magic).
But unlike SAO/Danmachi/NGNL/LH/etcetc the main character is an adult, has superiors whose orders he must follow, has a squad that he has to lead, etc. It really changes up the character dynamics and is very refreshing to follow characters who are professional (mostly) instead of melodramatic teenagers. Sure, the 3 main other-world-characters are somewhat-tropey teenage girls but it doesn't fall into the MC-and-his-girls trope either, since there's the age gap, a fair bit of professionalism and a bunch of secondary/tertiary characters involved all the time.
The big appeal, of course, is that they actually do a somewhat realistic depiction of a modern Earth military fighting a medieval swords-and-magic empire. The first episode has military helicopters shooting down dragon-riding knights. Tell me you don't want to go watch that!
I don't expect it'll be an especially Great show - the plot is a bit too "here's our situation, we shall Do The Right Thing" - but it is fairly novel and lots of fun so far! Worth checking out!

You paint a picture of Trogdor facing down an Apache, and in my mind's eye, it is majestic. Tell me more.
I don't know if you're serious or not...
Gate opens in downtown Japan. Orcs, dragonriders and knights come through, killing everyone they come across. Army arrives, shoots back, secures the Gate, and sends a detachment through to secure and explore the other side.
Other side is feudal magic land. Emperor is a dick, politics be complicated yo. Main character and his squad pick up elf girls, fight monsters, meet the locals, doesn't afraid of anything and have a grand ol' time being good guys in an anime. Cue end credits?

I'm deadly serious. I know it's not always possible to tell, but in this instance, that sounds pretty awesome (sort of like if Dethklok did a music video for Hatredcopter or something). I'll have a look into it
