Holy mother of god I've taken binge watching to a whole new level. I'm even watching it in the bathroom. Hunter X Hunter was a little boring at first, then it got hilarious. Now it's just plain epic.
I think I have a substance abuse problem.

That is a great show

Have you gotten to the super ant arc? or are you perhaps still somewhere about the hunter exam/greed island arc?

I am in the Yorknew city arc. They are just beginning to try acquiring Greed Island. The blond boy who is most definitely a girl (Kurapika) has just become epic.

Lol that is indeed when it starts to shine! Kurapika really surprised me. Didn't expect the epic, it kinda snuck up on me. I can't recall what the thieves were called? The Black Spiders? Phantom somethings? I'm not sure.

Those guys though, they practically stole the show. Hisoka gets suuuuper creepy in that arc
and the Zoldyack family! so so soooo badass!

The Phantom Troupe.
I'm pretty sure this will become my favorite anime. Hisoka is just ...
No words to describe him.
The Zoldyck family is fun, but they aren't there all that much. it's such a shame ;)
This is just too good.

Oh geez... Ninja Slayer from Animation episode 1 has debuted...

...and 90% of it is just Inferno Cop-style clipart animation. People don't know whether the director is serious, it's a parody, it's just a joke for the first episode, or the director really just wanted to hype people's expectations and deliberately shit on them.

For those who haven't seen Inferno Cop, you might not fully understand the difference here. Allow me to illustrate.

This is what the promotional materials for Ninja Slayer looked like:

And here is what the fake manga they 'previewed' looked like:
Spoiler

Now here is what the show actually looks like:
Spoiler

This is going to be veeeeery interesting to see {a} what happens with this show, if anything, and {b} how the fans react.

Naw man. I'm way behind on anime. Only series I've completed are Evangelion, Alter Memory and Cowboy Bebop. Evidence is mounting that I need to watch GITS. Is it the one with those talking tanks? Remind me...

You mean that show about a thin, dark-haired boy who sees some of his family get killed by fantasy monsters, becomes obsessed with taking revenge against those fantasy monsters (who are also responsible for wiping out almost all of humanity), joins a military dedicated to fighting the monsters, then goes to a sort of school at the behest of said military after a few years' timeskip, and has a shy boy and militarily proficient girl as his only friends?

Oh wait, no, that's Owari no Seraph (aka Seraph of the End) ;)

So, uh, if you want 'moar' maybe check that show out? It just started airing this season, so there's 3 episodes so far and there'll be a new episode each week until August!

If you want another more mature action show of that nature Code Geass might be right up your alley, too.

if you like dystopia, with some cyberpunk added to it, technolyze might be up your alley. It does sufer from slow pacing ill warn you in advnace.

Dystopia animes off the top of my head
:Ghost in the shell
:Pale Coccon (20 minute film), more sci fi then anything. Its 20 minutes so really you don't loose much by trying it.
ergo proxy
claymore is a fantasy anime but it's in a darker setting. It's more in line with Attack on Titan than Psychopass. I'd Highly reccomend this gem from the past.
Fate Zero is a great series over all, i dont think anyone in this thread can NOT reccomend this.

So speaking of blasts from the past, i decided to watch some old school cyberpunk.

Armitage 3, the 4 part OVA series. I found myself switching to the sub at the half way point as the voice actors, just weren't that good. The delivery was lacking. That being said, it had one of my personal facinations, the humanisation of robots. As something of an existentialist i enjoy any media that probes into this facet of cyberpunk. Good action scenes as well. Given that the manga for GITS came out in 89 and armitage was a 95 production, im curious as to whether there was a link between both main protagonists character designs being overly sexualised.

Anyways i enjoyed myself and ill be looking into the dual matrix movie sometime in the near future.

no. Being a badass doesn't hurt though. The biggest function of firepower is definetly the fact that people are cyborgs with shotgun implants and whatnot.

3 episodes in on most series of this season. Some expectations are being revised, some are not.

Owari no Seraph is as entertaining as hoped, but the one-dimensionalness of the main character is dragging it down a bit. Thankfully smug Shinoa brings it back up.

Gunslinger Stratos went completely off the rails after the first episode in a really bad way. I though the show was going to be gradually teasing a bunch of paranormal mystery ideas, but instead it outright explained just about everything in episodes 2 and 3... and the explanations are very stupid. Also the main character randomly has the ability to slow down time and dodge bullets, Matrix-style, and the only reaction it garners from any character is a one-sentence explanation to the main character as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. This show is basically bordering between repetitive-facepalming and so-bad-it's-good territory right now.

Plastic Memories is still good, per se, but some parts of it have been a bit overly tropey, and the emotional beats of the main characters' relationship-or-lack-thereof are so far playing out quite predictably. It feels really obvious where the plot is going to go next. Maybe not and they will take an unexpected route, but doesn't seem like it so far. Additionally, after 3 episodes the still have not really explained anything about the Giftias, which adds a bit of pointlessness to it all as the audience can't formulate any expectations of the 'rules', so to speak.

Hibike! Euphonium has been better than I expected. There's hardly any substance to it, but what it does have it does well. Definitely turned out to be more of a slice of life than an actual music show.

Stay Night is back, too, and so far has been more tolerable than the last half. Maybe because there's been less Shiro and more fighting so far. Also, looks like they've begun releasing an "uncut" version of the first half with some deleted footage added in and some of the effects-heavy scenes at higher quality (often such scenes are darkened or otherwise toned down because of concerns about inducing seizures or other health incidents). I haven't given it more than a cursory check so far, but I'll be curious to see what the added-back-in content is (hopefully not just more gag-inducing VN dating simulation).

Finished watching HxH. I have to say this anime was excellent. It did slow down somewhat during the Chimera Ant arc but I can't say the slowing down was in any way a bad thing. They used it to develop characters further. The villains were so well developed it was unbelievable. The music was just perfect. i'd give it a solid 9/10.

Now moving on onto "Melancholy of Haruhi whatever". I've read some hilarious "cult" comments about this one and just want to check it out.
