So i just finished serei no moribito. Quite the hidden gem, though supposedly shiw row masumune was involved in it. Good character driven series. There are few fights, but the fight that do occur are wonderfully animated. It's also neat seeing a series where the MC uses a spear to fight rahter than a sword (hidden fortress anyone?)
Really good character devlopement, touching a lot on themes of motherhood you don't often see. Plot is simple but execution is phenomenal.

Finished AM. Thoroughly enjoyed it (although oh my days Lambda why that was utterly heartbreaking). So, uh, what next? I've been considering Ghost in the Shell. Never saw it, but Deus: MD has me in a cyberpunk mood.

My running checklist of Attack on Titan / Seraph of the End comparisons is getting longer and longer
But on the plus side, Seraph is so far doing some of those things better! Shinoa is an awesome new character to add, love her pseudo-trolling Yu and the colonel guy. And despite the weirdly anachronistic uniforms the military girls actually wear pants when they fly around with giant scythes? I may faint with pleased shock!
(later edit: turns out that is just two girls, the rest do not
)
The school bit was still kinda weird, but according to some Reddit comments it really doesn't last long at all, so that is good. One must still wonder how exactly they are capable of mass-producing such great uniforms, desks, notebooks, etc... if they can do that why don't they have assault rifles instead of swords? Oh well, I guess Seraph already told me to suspend some disbelief when it had hidden vampires release a bioagent that somehow targets people solely by age.
One last thing that really did bug me though - the OP seems to give away a couple spoilers that would otherwise have been dramatic revelations and twists later on. Why would they even consider doing that???
In other news, Gunslinger Stratos really defied my expectations of a gradual unveiling show and just went ahead and explained 80% of the mysteries in the second episode. And it was kinda... stupid. We will see how this goes, this show might not turn out nearly as well as I thought the first episode would imply.
Plastic Memories was still good, though I doubt anyone was surprised by the dramatic reveal at the end... saw that one coming pretty easily. I still really want some explanation of what the Giftia androids are made of, though. They seem to be pretty soft, aren't any stronger than humans, they can cry, they have to use the bathroom and they can bleed. They seem physically more like humans grown in a vat than they do androids! It'd be nice to get some background on them to form some level of expectations.

TRICKY...
perhaps nekomonogatari is technically the first. in order of release though:
1 Bakemonogatari (2009–2010)
2 Nisemonogatari (2012)
3 Nekomonogatari (Kuro) (2012)
4 Monogatari Series Second Season (2013)
5 Hanamonogatari (2014)
6 Tsukimonogatari (2014)

Go with release order, there's little point in trying to go chronologically with that series. XD

there's more to the gatari series than i thought, assuming 13 eps each...70+ episodes. Well now i know how to keep busy. If i can watch 5 eps/week, i should be able to finish by the time the season ends

Been watching Hunter X Hunter.
This shit is hilarious. There is a cute assassin boy with claws!
It's gigantic though, so I hope the quality doesn't dip. (ah the ever present bane of anime)

Half of those are movies, not seasons. Two full seasons, and Nise is a half. So like 50 episodes max. XD

I've been recommended an anime about an MMO (can't remember the name) by someone at work. Any thoughts on this?

If it's sword art online or log horizon I'd still watch GitS first? both are great but personally I'd think you're better off starting with the older "classic" and work your way through the cyberpunk genre. there's some real gems in there.
Now I mentioned Seven Deadly Sins earlier and have gotten into Kuroko no Baske AKA Kuroko's Basketball. I'm loving them both and feel kinda guilty about it.
I am a fan of sport oriented anime. I enjoyed Giant Killing, Hajime No Ippo, Eyeshield 21 and a few other similar shows.
If you like that flavour of anime, Kuroko no Baske is a great watch.
The premise being 5 grade schoolers made such an incredible team they called them the generation of miracles. come highschool however each has gone to play in a seperate team, championing their play style with teams that better suit their skills. Kuroko being the 6th man and lesser known of the generation of miracles ops to join a team of average joes. It all gets interesting from there.
Theres alot of character variety. good plot and interesting team interaction. yes the obvious sporting cliches are there but The execution of the "sporting-rival" is less individual based and more team based. Seirin is composed of several fun to watch individuals, Kagami being the "michael Jordan" of the team. I thought it would be centralized around the main character, Kuroko but thus far Its kinda eerie how little they focus on Kurokos perspective on things until very specific moments. theres alot of fun to be had watching this if you have even a tiny bit of love for le basketball.
Now Seven Deadly Sins on the other hand is grope all grope about the grope epic grope totally awesome grope fight scenes. There also may grope be a little grope grope fan service here and there grope. but I try hard grope to overlook all the wanton grope groping.
That aside its just tons of fun to watch these absurdly OP characters smash any perception you have of them episode after episode. at its core the storyline is Seven Samurai. The studio runs with it and I've enjoyed it. Can't go into specifics without ruining the experience a lil but its really entertaining to watch. I can see why the Shonen community enjoy it so much. Several scenes are kinda awe-inspiring, iconicly so. Think back to your first Bankai scene? Gokus first ascension to Super-saiyajin? I sure an image of the first time you saw those scenes burnt itself into memory. This show has those titanic moments. It just seems to fit. The somewhat colorful childlike art style added flavor to it all. I feel it may be a tad too eccentric for some. You really will know if you will like the show within the first episode, everything established there sets the tone for things that happen later on.
Also theres a talking pig.

If it's Sword Art Online - good, watch the whole thing (even if the first season's structure is pretty weird)
If it is Log Horizon - First season is worth watching. Second season's start is mildly entertaining, then it gets really boring, then the last 5 episodes are actually pretty good.
If it is .hack/Sign - I have no idea. From the one episode I saw, run away!

Holy mother of god I've taken binge watching to a whole new level. I'm even watching it in the bathroom. Hunter X Hunter was a little boring at first, then it got hilarious. Now it's just plain epic.

Have you gotten to the super ant arc? or are you perhaps still somewhere about the hunter exam/greed island arc?

Log Horizon, that's the one. I remember giggling because log is also poo. Hur hur hur.
I'm building a list just now - remembered that the next one on the plan would be AOT, and after that I'll have a gander at GITS.
