interesting article, ima go one step further and say that by exagerating the suit design they are making a comment as to how it is a larger detractor then the violence itself. Or to word it another way, violence is permissble, yet we shy away from fanservice.

I still say the best in-story meta mention about FanService is EVANGELION 2.0 was Asuka putting on her NEW plugsuit in disgust and looking down at it to exclaim "What pervert designs these things anyways?" Which is basically Anno still taking hilarious potshots at Otaku culture all these years later, while still giving them what they want.
On Topic: Anyone excited about SPACE DANDY? As a big fan of COWBOY BEEBOP, I think this new Shinchiro Watanabe show might be pretty solidly fun. Here's a new trailer. WARNING: Speaking of FanService...there are some bouncing cleavage shots in this show.

Holy shit.
I just discovered that VIZ made ALL current bookified Volumes of ONE PIECE manga available for purchase to read on the Kindle...for LESS than half the cost of the physical books.
The only reason I wasn't barreling through these at a faster pace was because they cost me $12 a go and I can read them in about an hour. So yeah, a $5 price tag/ebook volume is going to make things sting a lot less in the wallet department.
Plus, last time I was devouring a copy I thought (jeez, these could be read so easily on Kindle!). Apparently VIZ came to this realization first.

while waiting for new episodes of MAGI: THE KINGDOM OF MAGIC and KUROKO NO BASKET 2,, i just started to watch SUISEI NO GARGANTIA
I like the story so far,, a space battle occured between humans and a plant-like aliens (which gives me a Gundam 00 vibes),, when retreating MC's mecha were lost in the black hole and ended up in Earth,, where the Earth is a place full of waters - ala Water World,, where he and his super-advanced mecha met a low technological people,,
1 of the things i like is that they were all talking japanese,, but when they spoke to Ledo(MC) they speak a foreign language unknown to him!! but when he speaks,, it is the same like-wise,, so they communicate thru Ledo's Artificial Intelligence Chamber,, and translates it for them,, but as the series progresses,, he understands a few words and able to talk with them,,

Suisei No Gargantua starts off well but changes pace quite a bit and I think its a shame. I didn't follow it much further than the 6th episode. would like to know how you like it. I feel it had a ton of potential but then Jormungand happened and I never really tracked back to it.

You should give it another go. Gargantia can be split into 3 arcs.
first arc:ledo discovers and tries to be accepted into the new culture
second: ledo adjusts to a new life
third:ending arc.
I won't say much about third arc as it would spoil a lot but it was really good. THe middle is forgettable i will admit, i skipped a few episodes. However the ending is arc quite good.

Hmmm, I dislike dhte few eps I watched...but folk here seem to enjoy it, perhaps it deserves another chance?

Yeah, it's phenomenal...but yeah emotionally draining.
For me, I've actually seen that WOLF CHILDREN is out on BluRay and new Mamoru Hosoda (SUMMER WARS, THE GIRL WHO LEAPT THROUGH TIME) is always a great thing.
That said, I can't buy it yet cause I've promised I would not buy myself stuff till after xmas.

5cm per second is a great movie. To quote my friend who reccomended it to me "there isn't a single character, a single situation in that movie that i haven't been in." It's one of those truly authentic movies that is beautifully directed.

just started watching:
SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN - i like the premise of this,, and love Mikasa,, hehe,, and Eren kinda looks like Van Fanel of Escaflowne,, and i love the ending song,, it's so soothing,,
and
ORE NO IMOUTO GA KONNA NI KAWAII WAKE GA NAI - it's sort of incestous,, it's implied but never shown,, so far it's kind of just showing the relationship between older brother and younger sister,,
both episode 4 watched so far,, also started reading their manga origins,, don't like much the art in SHINGEKI NO KYOJIN VOL OO ONE SHOT,,
will be watching episode 7 of SUISEI NO GARGANTIA,, which have sort of lulled in the middle part,, but i like it so far not to continue,,
can't wait for the Magnostadt War Arc in MAGI and the Seirin Vs Touou Gakuen in KUROKO NO BASKET,,

from what i could gather,, the author left it with an open ending,, it remains to be seen or confirmed if they both went with it all or they went their separate ways after they "dated" and then broke up,, but one thing is for sure they both had feelings for each other and the author didn't made a cop out ending like they aren't really blood relatives,,
also as i read somewhere that the Japanese passed some kind of law,, so that makes it a little more harder and restricted the story/manga without going full adult,,

Makoto Shinkai the director and all his works are absolutely gorgeous his newest Garden of Words is just beautiful
but my fav is Voices of a Distant Star.
