So, I haven't watched much new lately, but as it's kind of my last hope for a really, truly good Fate / Stay Night adaptation that even manages to scratch the awesome of Fate Zero, I just thought I would drop by to fanboy over the upcoming release of... *deep breath* Fate / Stay Night: Heavens Feel I. presage flower.
Which is apparently rating a theatrical release here in Australia!
I am appropriately hyped, so if there are any news reports of giant golden beams of energy splitting apart cinemas in Brisbane in mid November then it's probably just me being severely disappointed. XD

If the first three Fate/Stay Night adaptations have been poop, what makes you think this will be any better? Sure, you can hope, but if you go into this with hyped up expectations it can't help but disappoint, right?

Basically true, but the ufotable run at Unlimited Blade Works was much better than either previous adaption.

More importantly, this is the Heaven's Feel route, which is the best source material imnsho. Given ufotable have a decent track record between making the best Stay Night run, AND doing Zero, I am willing to hope.

Still could be terrible, but I'm willing to take the disappointment. XD

"best" source material, but how different is it really from SN/UBW ? Is Shirou still going to be insufferably naive?

Will people die if they are killed? Will the archer class really be made up of archers?

Even if the new adaptation is right that doesn't mean it will be correct!

Will there be ancient hindu spaceships?

I am very much looking forward to whatever new tautology/counterfactual statement they manage to come up with in this one. XD

To answer two of your questions: actually, Shirou will likely retain a small amount of his insufferable naivety... But this route is dark af and depending on how they run it could end up breaking that annoying waste of space character.
Sadly, ancient Hindu spaceships are less likely. Because reasons.

But really one of the reasons I like this route so much is *because* it's kind of a huge slap in the face to Captain Naivety and his usual approach to the Holy Grail War (granted he's only sort of the main character in this route). Again, it will depend a little bit on what scenes they use and whether they go good/bad/true ending. But I'm cautiously optimistic. Also feel the need to point out that the "I" in the tile not for show - this is going to be multiple movies, so it's the first entry and likely won't do much in the way of resolution or climax yet.

Looks like it was a DNS hack, so nothing of CR's was actually breached, just people getting redirected to a fake site that downloads malware/ransomware. It's fixed now.

And I forgot the most important question! Silencer, will there be more MANA PORPOISES???!!!

Ooooooooooooo it's plot-twist week! Both Dragon Ball Super and Food Wars had some pretty great plot twists this week! I'm especially baffled as to where the heck Food Wars is going next, this changes, like, everything!

So after the tragic "Its a beautiful day for rain" moment I decided to pause FMA: Brotherhood and watch FMA first.

I have just reached the FMA counterpart of the place where I stopped, which is episode 25.

So far:

Brotherhood is better IMO because of how much the Fuhrer stands out in terms of involvement and activity, this mixed with how well developed the Ishbalan situation is portrayed Counts for 60% of the improvement.

I feel the 40% left owes greatly to the idea of Father and the depiction of The Homunculi. It's Orders of magnitude better explained and played out. Also the Lore in Brotherhood makes you feel like it's a story spanning civilizations rather than just two brothers. So everything has an epic weight to it.

Personally I rather liked the original as i felt the smaller scope of everything made for a tighter narrative. With less filler characters the emotional depth was greater. On top of that I felt the survival rate of certain characters in FMA B was too high compared to FMA

Its an interminable debate, but ultimately felt the smaller scope made for a more intimate story.

Jesus, those are absolutely dire.

Anyway, I've been pushing on with my seasonals. Strangely, Sis-con became deadly serious at the end of the most recent episode. Magus Bride continues to impress.

Things I was not expecting this week: Imouto... having a D&D episode (which rather accurately portrayed the chaos of a D&D session with new players), and for that episode to sneak in an Unlimited Meme Works reference. I was most giggles.

D'rek-sama please ;-; No judge!

On Siscon, the serious element is that it actually portrays author struggles pretty well.

Side note: I've also picked up Anime-gataris and Garo: Vanishing Line. AG is a slice of life comedy which has the makings of a self-parody (like a slightly more serious KonoSuba, always nice). Garo seems like a supernatural hack'n'slash affair. Both pretty decent.

I am about 40 episodes into it, and frankly I have mixed feelings.

On the one hand the Homonculii and Father are vastly better defined, far more menacing and dangerous. On the other, its starting to feel a little drawn out. Frankly I could have done without the Shin connection.

I can believe that. The first couple episodes did seem to have good writing chops and were definitely hinting towards a more dramatic turn later on. But I still know I'd have zero chance of taking the dramatic turn seriously after all the look-how-lewd-we-are! bits

Garo is some big franchise I've seen pop up a few times. There's some clips out there from one of them with really nice animation... might've been a movie?

Animegataris is IMHO getting bad the last few episodes. The meta/parody jokes have gone down, the seen-it-before club drama has gone up, and the writing just feels stagnant. I'm hoping for a second-half turn-around...

I've only seen FMA:Brotherhood so I can't compare to the original, but yeah I found some of the middle stretch to drag, too, especially because the first half is so often moving at a blistering pace. But the pace picks up again in the final stretch.

Points I agree with fully. The Shin Connection felt underdeveloped. I also would have opted it out although the ending ties them in nicely, it just could have worked without the link just as well.

We'' see about Animegataris. It's enjoyable enough at least.

This week's Juuni Taisen was all filler. Very disappointing.

A lot of people have the same issue with Siscon. What I'd take away from it is that us authors are a very weird bunch. Yes, the latest episode with D&D got very lewd indeed, but that's reflective of the game sometimes. My dwarven cleric regularly rolls percentile erection checks at inappropriate things. The Unlimited Meme Works joke had me chuckling as well.
