We'' see about Animegataris. It's enjoyable enough at least.

This week's Juuni Taisen was all filler. Very disappointing.

A lot of people have the same issue with Siscon. What I'd take away from it is that us authors are a very weird bunch. Yes, the latest episode with D&D got very lewd indeed, but that's reflective of the game sometimes. My dwarven cleric regularly rolls percentile erection checks at inappropriate things. The Unlimited Meme Works joke had me chuckling as well.

are you sure you want to be lumping yourself in with the girl who can't write unless she's naked and groping a friend, and the guy who imagines his little sister climbing on top of him naked? Sure, authors are a weird bunch, but there's levels in there! You sure you want to portray yourself as being comparable with these two? :p

It depends, D'rek-sama. Is the sister cute and adopted? There are levels, indeed. Plus it's not entirely inaccurate. I can't write creatively for shit if I have shoes on, for whatever reason that is. It honestly isn't so far fetched*.

First episode of Princess principal was mighty good. I'm not watching it officially yet. Just looking into what everyone's been watching. That said its second on the to watch list so far.

Boku no Hero second season had a weird ending I'm not sure how I feel about. Third season trailers seem completely at odds with where we left off. Hmmmn.

Right this moment I actually want to get current on Ancient Magus bride. I just liked the intro episodes so much more than I expected I would, very interested to see how the series proper goes from there.

Magus Bride is the big ticket anime of this season and it's not disappointed at all so far. It's also supposed to be a 24-ep run, so hunker down for the long haul. The pace is comparable to but slightly faster than Sakura Quest.

Further thoughts on a few my seasonals:

Juuni Taisen bounced back. There were some unexpected twists this week, which is always good.

Sengoku Night Blood has become kind of stale. The general plotline of 'this lady has special blood, let's all steal her but then realise she's awesome and fall in love with her' isn't so grand. Contrast Code: Realize where the narrative continues to evolve and the story progress towards a conclusion.

Net-juu no Susume has been a surprise hit for the season. It pokes the right sort of fun at online gamers whilst maintaining a story that's interesting in the offline portions as well. And it doesn't generally rely on wacky slapstick humour to do so.

D'rek will judge me forever for this, but My Girlfriend is ShoBitch is very entertaining. Yes, we've seen the scenarios before where zany antics are used as a setup for incessant lewd jokes, but Aoi Yuuki (see: Aho-Girl) has incredibly good comedic delivery and thus the show is genuinely funny, probably on par with Noucome.

Ehhh, I watched six whole episodes of Rail Wars, I'm not really in a position to judge anyone :p

Dragon Ball Super was really good this weekend. Nice little power-up moments for universes 2 and 6, two big takeout moments with great music, and it seems like the pace is ramping up. Looks like next week will intro the cicada guys, and then after that there's really only the robots combining together (presumably... but it seems pretty obvious they're going to do that) as the last "sudden new threat", after which it should just be the finale with Jiren and the remaining heavyweights. So far the pay-offs have been pretty good so I'm looking forward to it.

Also, I'm 3 episodes into Re:Creators, and very pleasantly surprised so far. The directing is a lot better than I expected, the animation is good and in general I'm liking the plot and characters, though I wish they were a bit more open-minded (and less "I have only one guess [which is therefore correct]". I'm guessing now

Anime-gataris got unexpectedly dramatic this week! JoJo pose! Joseph Part 3 reaction!

By contrast, this week's episode of Siscon was so ridiculous that even I couldn't quite buy it. The mangaka adapting the MC's book full of nude little sisters drew underwear on them! Ack! Now she reveals she can only draw WHEN SHE HAS PANTIES ON HER FACE! ACK! And then she discovers the joys of nudity via an extended girl on girl fondling scene and does the nude for the manga!!!!!!! OHH MYYYYYYYYYY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I mean it's enjoyable when it's being wacky but this just took the mickey a bit.

Finished Selector Infected WIXOSS. Much like the later series that introduced me to the franchie (Lostorage Incited WIXOSS), it's dark. I'd probably say darker, though. And the final episode leads straight into a second season (Selector Spread WIXOSS). I'll be starting that soonish.

First though, gonna get DanMachi: Sword Oratoria watched.

So despite everything i have been watching rwby.

Im happy ive stuck with it so far as the shows been getting better season by season. (that and the fact Casey's been going to Barkley/berklee has likely helped with the fact im a fan of the latest opening).

Can i just take a moment to gush about how the dialogue feels real. Like we're having all these heart to heart moments and while they are definitely endearing, they are also interesting in the sense i feel as if when girls have heart to hearts they're actually quite frank and open with them as we're seeing here. It's kinda refreshing as from my own experiences as a guy these types of conversations are usually problem solving sessions (as that how you deal with a problem) but it just feels so novel seeing this actually take place (all the literature on the subject i've read doesn't come close to demonstrating what that feels like.

all and all, a great show and i can't wait for the s5 finale.

Up to episode 7 now.

As before, the Meteora "this is just a theory, but... [insert 15 minutes of humongous exposition every immediately takes as fact]" bits are utterly preposterous, but other than that I'm enjoying the way the characters and plot are developing so far. I wasn't expecting and was pleasantly surprised by some of the more realistic elements

Sooooooo, yes and no. I agree that the dialogue/interaction is much improved, I'm really enjoying the bond between the girls such as in this latest episode.

BUT, some of it feels reeeaaaalllly drawn out. That conversation with Raven that was like 8 minutes long? Felt so stilted and unnecessarily padded out (and ultimately didn't say much, either). There's missing some key motivation, too... like:

Spoiler

Plus the fights are fewer and farther between, and not as fast or creative as the first couple seasons.

Soooo... I'm still enjoying it. For sure. But I really miss the humour, faster-pace, and creativity of the first couple seasons. Sometimes it feel like it takes 3 15-minute-episodes of season 5 to progress as much as one 8-minute-episode of season 2.

It's shaping up well, and with ArcSys including RWBY in BB Cross Tag Battle, the franchise as a whole may start to gain more traction in other mediums.

As I was out of work ill yesterday I binged a few episodes of Danmachi Gaiden: Sword Oratoria. It's Danmachi, you get what you expect. Generally, an entertaining deconstruction of dungeon crawlers.

Even more shocking, the bureaucrats in this show are actually competent.

Valid point ill agree they didn't seem to say much, but then again i imagine that's also part of their "family" dynamic

[spoiler]I feel as if theres a double edged sword aspect to it thats yet to be revealed. Also i imagine it likely costs ozzpin something.
Also gotta say ozzpins gots the makings of a great villain in him, very charismatic that one. I mention this as if salem and ozz are like antithetical beings, they likely both have some sort of immortality thing going on.

Plus the fights are fewer and farther between, and not as fast or creative as the first couple seasons.

I'll definetly agree with this, i imagine this is a consequence of monty's passing as Rwby is shifting to a more character drama based show with action sequences rather than action sequences with character based drama

Humours still there from time to time i find, though some of the zani humor is gone i think thats just another development in terms of how the story going. (and again could be side effect of monty's passing)

I finished FMA: Brotherhood.

IMO FMA Brotherhood has a better ending sequence and an overall better ending.

FMA's ending felt a bit anticlimactic.

But overall series pacing and characterisation is slightly better in FMA. I liked how Mustang and Hawkeye's relationship as well as Lt. Ross got a lot more space there.

Olivier Armstrong was an interesting character for Brotherhood. But I think she needed a bit more development, some soft sides instead of all hard edges.

In other news, I finally found an English dub streaming of Ninja Robots and that theme song is strongly stirring up the nostalgia.
