I watched the first episode of Mob Psycho back when it first came out. It's beautifully animated, but other than that I found it boring. Stoic character with no personality goes along with slapstick mentor and wins everything by pointing at them and will someday explode when he reaches 100%. Probably interesting whenever it reaches 100%, but the prospect of waiting through 9 episodes of that setup to get there didn't appeal.

He gets to 100% often and its seminal to his character development. I think he first hits 100% in episode 3 so its not that long a wait.

See 100% isn't like Gokus SSJ or Ichigos bankai, he is always capable of 100%, he hems it all down to let himself live a normal life. So much so he represses himself and starts to see his power as something terrible.

One is trying to tell a story of what power actually means in the hands of real, earnest individuals. I think he nailed it in One-Punch man but it was overshadowed by the sheer spectacle of the show. Animations and comedy overshadow the core ideas One explores in his work.

In Mob Psycho we get more focus on the MC's development. like I said, I encourage you to try it as far as episode 8, if it hasn't caught you by then, it never will IMHO.

You want me to commit to watching two and a half hours / 60-80% of the show before I decide if I like it enough to watch the remaining handful of episodes...? Mmmmmmm... no.

I wouldn't trust a person that hasn't seen bebop.

True story: I secretly ask a random bebop question on first dates...it has yet to be answered..

Either way you look at it..this is why I haven't met my particular girl.

I know I know..my sister in law calls me picky...it's not like that at all..ya know?

Also, I got me a waifu statuette but unfortunately she cannot be called Mu-12 now. She is henceforth Eddard Stark.

60-80%??? Ah wasn't aware this was gonna be a 12 episode arc. that sucks.

Theres alot of content in this series. feel it could sustain longer seasons

I don't think its a trainwreck if you think its a waste of your time so don't feel like I'm badgering you into it.

Judging it on episode 1 feels tragic. I didn't like episode one, fell asleep half into it. The very next episode had me interested again, the third was better than the second and so on and so forth.
I think there's a reason to get into Mob Psycho 100, I stuck with it and felt Episode 8 was a great pay-off.

I'd like you guys to get a chance to enjoy the show like I did, if you're not into it, cool.

----

In other news I watched the first three episodes of Handa-Kun. Its funny, got some good laughs out of it. Particularly if you've already watched Barakaemon.

Watched the first episode of Mirai Nikki. Its been on my to watch list for ages now.
I like it. God wants to play a game. nice and simple premise. will keep with it.

I've been asked to watch Rakshasa Street. maybe someones watched it already? looks pretty good but I find it strange its kinda unpopular. wondering why.

Well... what is available on NetFlix in your region? List a few and we'll recommend one of them!

I just got an email from Funimation about a partnership between FunimationNow and Crunchyroll. I am subscribed to both, so I'm hoping I can cancel one or the other, but I don't know yet because their partnership FAQ does not have clickable links. I'm wondering if this came about because of Crunchyroll's talks to get the DB anime (which is the main Funimation thing they didn't have as part of their regular subscription service). It's the only reason why I still have a FunimationNow subscription, and the AOT manga simulpub is the main reason I have Crunchyroll (though it's their other stuff that makes it worth the subscription), and I don't think the manga will be available through FunimationNow. But presumably Funimation is still going to have some content that's only available through them, and with my luck, it will be DB.

Since I don't have U.S. Netflix, I both {a} wouldn't know if there is a difference or not, and {b} even if there is no difference I wouldn't know which shows are on U.S. Netflix...

I would guess part of the reason they want to partner up is to have more bidding power for getting webcast/broadcast rights. CR and Funimation often end up bidding against each other for a bunch of shows and splitting the lineup.

Yeah, hopefully it'll become just one combined subscription at the same cost as Crunchyroll, but I'm not sure what the plan is.

There are no regional variations across the US catalog. People would be very pissed if there were.

Nope, it's not just you. There doesn't seem to be a lot of clear information yet in any form (though lots of speculation and speculation-pretending-to-be-fact is being posted everywhere, ofc). Just have to wait and see.

I assume it's either things that were more explained in the novels that they skipped over, or just LN-level "we need good guy to look super good even though he can't really do much" writing. Maybe both.

One more episode left. Who wants to bet something goes terribly wrong in the last episode?
