Seems i'm going into another anime phase (it happens once every few years)
Started watching "Legend of Galactic Heroes" yesterday. Watched 3 episodes, seems ok. Certainly different from the kind of stuff I usually watch.
There's a sizeable group of people who believe LoGH is the best anime ever made, even though it's rather old. It's been on my mental "I'll have to watch this someday just to see if everyone is right" lists for a while. Make sure you tell us how it goes!

Just a little update on DBS: ratings have ticked back up a bit in the last few weeks, and there was more anticipation for yesterday's episode than I've seen in a while. Consensus is that it paid off big time, and ep 36 was probably the best so far in terms of action, creativity, sentimental throwbacks, and animation. The plot hasn't even gotten serious yet, but they've already planted some seeds for it getting serious around the time this tournament wraps up. There's a lot of hype for next week's episode too. The hype is partly due to the fact that Vegeta is in the spotlight at the moment.
Just the other day I was reading that Toriyama had
publicly complained about the poor quality in the first months of DBS. And according to one of the animators on its twitter feed a big part of it was a production bottleneck, where they simply couldn't get the frames moved from step to step fast enough because the production schedule was really messed up.
But you're not the only one I've seen writing about things being better recently, so I guess Toriyama's grievances were the kick in the butt Toei needed to get their self together.
