Battlefield looked great, but this was the best part of the whole of E3 so far. DICE is so awesome.

Overall, what we've seen so far has been very dissapointing for me. Microsoft going on and on about Kinect, Sony going on and on about Move/3D, and everyone presenting nothing but sequels... Uncharted 3, Dark Souls, Arkham City and the new Tomb Raider are the only games I'm really excited about. :) Also interested in how Sony manages the Dust 514/EVE Online interaction.

Only thing I was thinking during that whole trailer was where the fuck is their helmet?! Look, I know it looks awesome, but what is the point of wearing tank armor if your head is unprotected? Also they didn't look big and bad enough IMO. NOT ENOUGH GRIMDARK!

E: Nintendo just trolled the internet.
Not sure what to make of this, that controller looks pretty uncomfortable to hold and they haven't said a single thing about the console itself...no third party exclusives, either.

My problem with the first trailer was quite similar. For something in the GRIMDARK far future, it sure was bright and somewhat comedic in presentation. :)

Good god, it's ridiculously huge! This is what happens when some jackass thinks it's a good idea to have a six-inch screen in the middle of their controller: rubbish design.

No-one is going to want to play games with this, surely? Let alone the likely-to-be-crap selection of games and the console itself no doubt being ridiculously expensive...it's dead in the water before it even begins, imo. :p

Aaaand there I was hoping that Nintendo would turn around and seize the "real" gamer market again after the Wii was lost to Yoga Simulator 2011 and Wacky Party Compilation Xtreem 3.

Fuck it, the next big video game crash can't come soon enough.

I think you're mistaken about the Wii U's (shudders) chances. Like the Wii it will sell like hot cakes because all the insane shit it does will draw in young and old more over, once again Nintendo beats Sony and Microsoft to punch and it will have its new console out on the market a year or two before the other two. It will by default capture a big chunk of the market.

The issue is with its power. From an earlier source I heard speculation that the Wii U will be an improvement on the PS3 and 360, but not by that much. It is not a new generation, more like a half. Which is a shame, because that means when the new consoles come they will make the Wii U look like shit.

Crytek for example has been clamouring for consoles with AT LEAST 8 gb of RAM. The wii U will have something like 2 gb.

I'm going to reiterate what I put before you all before: Cyanide is the developer and it suffices to point at their track record so far. Cyanide has so far only made forays into on game-type and that is sports games.

They have no merits in RTS or TBS and the niche they earned their starting capital with are sports-sims (the most notable (and for them most profitable) are Cycling Manager 1 to 3, of which I can attest from personal experience that at the least the first two of these suck glamydia infected hairy pustulent donkeyballs), none of them were real hits with fans or critics.

So, don't get your hopes up.

Yes, I know they also published Bloodbowl and Chaos League, both of which are fairly fun to play and fairly good sells. But Bloodbowl has a ruleset and a fanbase that just needed to be translated to bits and bytes with graphics added, and Chaos League was a blatant rip-off from both the Blood Bowl ruleset as well as its balance. Basically, it is BloodBowl 0.95.

i'm not expecting anyhtign great from this, and i won't be getting it any time soon. if it does turn out decent, i'll be surprised.

new Hitman trailer is up. i'm getting a bad feeling about this game, esp since it's supposed to have "an emotional journey of self discovery" or somesuch BS that has no place in Agent 47's life.

EDIT: and there's a lot of melee combat in it. IO'd better not "mainstream" this game.

Oh, yeah, I should have picked a different phrase. I don't think it's dead in the water as a product - it is bound to sell well, though I'm not convinced it will meet the Wii's sales figures due to the sheer price tag it's going to *have* to have - I just think as a platform it's a failure. The power issue is going to cap it in the knees in two years or less, the controller is going to limit the involvement of third-party AAA developers, and the hardcore market is going to eschew it in favour of the next generation.

Yes, I've only heard rumours that it's slightly more powerful than a PS3 - which is why I don't think we can say Nintendo has beaten PS3/MS to the punch with a 'new console'. New, technically. 'New', no. This is the console the Wii should have been five years ago, or however long it has been now. It means, essentially, that the Wii brand is a generation *behind* Playstation and Xbox. Which is terrible. And another reason the hardcore market won't take it up.

And I can see why Crytek wants that RAM - Crysis 2 is not flawless in its performance on consoles (it's pretty good, but there is still a sense of disconnection between input and action, sometimes, which quite simply isn't there on PC) and that's a current-gen game. Sure, it's partly them (the reason Crysis itself is still such a system hog is poor coding practices leading to inefficient running, whereas Warhead doesn't have this problem), but hey, give the devs a platform that is relatively close to modern PCs, and they'll run with it for all it's worth.

I've also heard that it is looking VERY action-oriented, with little focus on stealth. I am not amused.
