E3 takes place between the 7th and 9th of June this year:
http://www.e3expo.com/
When it goes live youtube will most likely have live coverage from the various stages along with running commentary from various gaming sites.
Who else is looking forward to this and what are you expectation?
With the official announcement of Nintendo's next console it will be interesting to see if Microsoft or Sony jumps the gun on their own coming consoles. Everyone knows that they are working on them. And supposedly the big developers already have some kind of kits but speculation also says that they are years away from a planned next generation. Up until now, Sony and Microsoft have only been competing with each other, but the specs on the "Project Cafe" from Nintendo could change that. If Nintendo only goes for a console slightly stronger/better than the X-box 360 and PS3 I don't think the other two will care. But if Nintendo is going all out with some kind of 8gb+ ram, many core monster like they are suspecting the next x-box and Playstation will be, then it might force the other two to react. Sony certainly doesn't want to be the one lagging behind again like it did with the X-box 360.
The stuff about a new kind of controller that reacts to tactile touch and has an interactive screen also sounds crazy.
Sony of course is going to be pulling one hell of a publicity pleaser to try to make up for the GIANT SHITSTORM surrounding the PSN hacker drama.
As for games, there's a lot of stuff that sounds good.
According to Jeff Gerstman at Giant Bomb it sounds like Bioshock Infinite will be the big sensation as there are working demos to play through and the demo is amazing.
Also there is the battle between Battlefield 3 and MW3.
Personally there is one announcement that I really, really want to hear and that is the conformation of a MGS HD Collection pack containing MGS 1-3.

meh, i'm absolutely indifferent to the console wars.
i'd like to hear more stuff on Prey 2, and the new Hitman game, though
EDIT: also, hopefully, GSC will have some S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 goodness.

I'm excited for the possibile Zelda Universe announcement, though if it really is an MMO I'm unlikely to ever play it. I don't know much of anything other than that to get excited about, though the rumours of the upcoming nintendo console are intriguing.

Ever since playing Demons Souls, I've been excited for Dark Souls, so that's a plus. Bioshock: Infinite, the Ico and Shadow of the Colossus collection I already have pre-ordered, haha.
When it comes to Nintendo's new console, I feel like they have already alienated their fanbase with the Wii. Just a hunch, really, based on how my friends who were initially pro-Wii are now luke warm or anti-Wii. Bringing a Nintendo console to HD is necessary, but too late to get them a significant number of sales compared to Sony and MS. The new-fangled controller sounds interesting, but putting that kind of thing into a controller is just going to ramp up the price. Now that all of the people that bought Wiis for the motion sensing gimmick now know it was a gimmick and have closeted their Wiis(I say this because it's what I've seen predominantly where I live) I don't think they'll be keen to jump on their new console just because of HD and a fancy controller. It doesn't help that Nintendo has a problem with shovelware and poor third party support - as evidence yet again by the 3DS launch. The last nail in their coffin, to me, is their continual re-making of the wheel. Where will they send Mario next? Hell? Will the LoZ franchise ever leave behind the most basic of block-pushing puzzles and good vs. evil plot? I'm all for innovation, but not through gimmicks shoe-horned into old franchises.
That being said, if a Pikmin 3 game is revealed, I will seriously consider their new console, haha.

seeing the XCOM trailer fills me with rage. everything about screams "Bioshock re-skinned" (including the lettering of the title)
Prey2 and Arkham City look slick, though.

X-COM Trailer
Urgh.
I thought I'd become immune to franchise rape, but seriously? Why even call this X-Com? X-Com wasn't exactly a rich universe. It was about aliens coming and how brave people shot the aliens in deep, tactical skirmish-level turn-based warfare which has only been matched by a handful of games like Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm, with even those failing to capture the feel of dire peril at every click of the "end turn" button. Why do this?

Because you can put it on consoles, obviously.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

That I get, but why bother buying up the X-Com license? "IT SHARES NOTHING EXCEPT THE NAME LOL" is a common hyperbolic reaction against franchises being taken in a new direction, but in this case, it's... 100% true. And somehow I doubt the fanbases cross over much. I just genuinely don't get it.

Don't forget, before the Wii came out people were saying the rumours and little tidbits of data gleamed meant it was definitely going to be a 3-D, Visor-based, virtual reality console or a dreamcast clone, or an 8-controller xbox-alike, etc etc etc

Bah, the new Nintendo console is barely going to be more 'powerful' than a PS3. In less than two years it will be rendered obsolete with the next generation of M$ and $ony products, besides already being outclassed by virtually every mid-range PC already on the market. Therefore, it will not be able to do anything in games that the current generation cannot already do. Therefore, it will be a matter of interface and titles. In terms of interface, it's going to be a gimmick at best. In terms of titles, it will be the same IPs recycled for the thousandth time, and probably poorly done at that. It will struggle to attract third-party developers, because their titles will likely have to make special consideration to the weird controller Nintendo has promised, and that either means exclusives (and therefore low sales, low sales means less exclusives, less exclusives means less converts to the console, means weaker market, means less exclusives...it's a killer cycle) or gimmicky ports.
E3 this year. Skyrim, obviously. Possibly a bit more Deus Ex info. Another few teaser vids/potential demos from Bioshock Infinite. Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3. AC: Revelations. Those are the big ones everybody basically knows about, expects, and hopes to be wowed by but will probably just reveal a few more details that help increase the hype.
STALKER2, like Ment mentioned, would be awesome if it showed up. But other than that, I'm hoping for more new announcements of potentially awesome projects than more hype-inducing, saliva-drawing marketing campaigns.
Project Cafe is dead to me, unless it unleashes the next gen console wars. Which it won't, Nintendo has stated as much (or had as much leaked, in any case, and leaks these days are proving more and more reliable). Xbox and PS3 will be pushing their motion controls and possibly 3D (both of which are dead in the water to me, barring their unfortunate status as necessary steps to true virtual reality game-room type situations, and have no benefit to the current game market the way they are presently being implemented) and will be keeping quiet about the next gen tech.
This year is glorious for games - it's not so much for E3, insofar as we already know most of the big titles landing this year and early next.

I think The Old Republic is going to be so mediochre and awkward that it will make the new episodes look brilliant.

The cynical (or is that realist?), MMO-hating part of me is inclined to agree with this statement. To the point where, after Lusipher posted, I thought "Oh yeah! Why didn't I think of TOR? *pause* Oh...yeah, because it's an MMO and is probably going to be terrible..."

Still, it could be the BEST NEW THING EVER, but I'm thinking the trailers are not indicative of the game so much as fan's imaginations. Which sucks. Because it has so much potential. :S

I lost all interest when they decided to create classes like rogue, mage, tank, etc. And make a Jedi/Sith a tank or Spellcaster. The Jedi should be the "final evolutionary tier" that all the characters grow in to. Equating a Jedi to a bounty hunter or a stormtrooper is insane. It's like saying that a regular of the bonehunters equates to an Avowed Mage like Blues or Cowl.

Ugh. That's not death, that's that bloke from the Legacy's of Kaine with a mask.
Seriously, this is why I hate games that take mythology as a base. They get it wrong, and every figure in there is transformed into a hyper muscled titan (if a man), a Lolo Ferrari look-alike (if female) or something with the waist of an anorexic wanna-be model and an inverted pyramid for a mask, if undead/ dead/ evil/ Death.
