I love the world and everyone in it.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

They love you too!

I think you are possessed by the devil, but that means nothing as I'm an idiot!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Devotion to one or other thing lies on a spectrum as most attitudes, beliefs etc do.

My objection was to the notion that the people who follow me on Twitter or are my friends on Facebook are "fanboys" whose contribution on reddit would dangerously skew any debate.

As to reddit itself. I only really have experience of r/fantasy where the moderators do a heroic job of trying to civilize the discussions, and where there is (if you stare at it right like one of those magic eye pictures) a sense of community ... albeit several different and radically opposed communities.

In short it can be a good place.

I look forwards to reading the book, but I've never been a big fan of the american way of doing fantasy covers. A work of regular fiction will mostly have a cover that aims to capture tone in a more abstract way, whereas a fantasy cover must have a person front and center, preferably holding a weapon.

Put that person in a hooded cloak, and you have the UK way of doing fantasy covers.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch

To be fair, we also have the 'symbol or totem connected with the plot of the book' way and the 'map or some kind of parchment, often with objects scattered across it' way.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Sweet. I just bought it. If you ever need a blurb feel free to use this: "I am willing to spend my money to read this man's enjoyable fantasy books."

When I'm down, Mark Lawrence literally shows up at my door and gives me a quick paced dose of literary splendor in return for my money. We have that kind of relationship and I don't want it to end.

(I bought Red Sister)

Yesterday was my wedding anniversary, my dogs birthday, and the day the countdown began for the arrival of my copy of Red Sister.
