Psychonauts is probably best left without a sequel. Otherwise it risks suffering MASSIVE sequelitis. Think about it; it's hard to duplicate or better "insanely good" .

And I have to say, lack of a PS3 is really starting to irk me these days. And lack of a handheld gaming system. I never thought I'd miss any handheld titles (there actually aren't that many that I *really* want to play, probably, but not being ABLE to play them probably increases the 'want' factor in some perverse twist of internal logic...) but I think if I could justify the expense to myself I'd get one of some description...even if it was just to tide over the break times at work, possibly with some ridiculous JRPG...
And the PS3...mostly it's just a few major titles that I'm missing (MGS4, obviously, plus a couple of others) but now that it is in the final stages of its lifecycle the catalogue is considerably better than it used to be. Still can never go back to the platform because of the controller, granted, but DAMN THE WAY MY BRAIN WORKS. >.<

I thought the same about the controller at first, but you get used to it pretty quickly i found. I, sadly enough, suffer from musthaveitis. Whenever there's a new release i'm compelled to get it, so i have to have most consoles and handhelds.
The Vita is a great investment, especially if you don't have a PSP. You can get most PSP games, except Kingdom Hearts (My heart bleeds) on the Playstation Store for a few bucks, which is pretty damned awesome, and the Vita itself is getting some real good new games. The recently released Gravity Rush is a great new game, and the upcoming MGS collection will definately keep me playing it for quite a while. They're also going to put old PS1 games up on the Playstation Store, and (hopefully) Playstation 2 games. It's obviously possible, as the Metal Gear Solid collection is mainly made of PS2 games (and ofcourse the two MSX Metal Gears.). Ah, how i would love to play Final Fantasy XII again...

(And I used to be fine with the PS controller...I had a Playstation 2. But I've grown to love the 360 controller, and the last couple of times I've touched a Sixaxis it's been like voluntarily inducing hand cramps, lol...I'm sure I could get used to it again, but the 360 controller is genuinely better - the same doesn't hold true of the old Xbox one, of course - at least as far as I'm concerned. XD)

(Also, the Xbox Controller feels odd to me too, after playing on my Playstation alive, and vica versa. I wish the Playstation controller was a bit thicker, but without the battery pack on the Xbox controller. That'd be pretty good.

Yeah the context sensitive doesn't always get it quite right, but it usually does, and as I played it more I found I kinda got the hang of getting it to work how I wanted pretty much all the time. Still, such a fantastic job turning what could have been a gamebreakingly complicated control system into something so simple and fun. I also got over the wanting to look down thing as they generally made it so you had a bit of leeway to making jumps you could make.
The missions and stuff ARE linear, it's not a free roamer, though there is a small variety of ways to reach points fairly often.
I also found the combat, shile simple, a lot of fun. I think that was enhanced by my refusal to ever at any point use a weapon, and loving the counters.

And yeah, I think I will be taking up KoA again to finally finish it after a little bit of a break. You think the chakrams are gamebreaking? I made myself a set of Finesse armour for my Finnesse/Magic character. I can now stand in a bunch of high level evil fey (about the most damaging enemy I can regularly find) and just let them hit me. My health stays at full

Oh and I do find the 360 controller more comfortable than the PS3 one, but I have not issue with the PS3 one. And have a look around, you can probably find a third party one that is a different shape around somewhere...
The other good thing about nearing lifecycle end? They are really pretty cheap

Given that the whole game revolves around getting from A to B, a level based story mode sort of have to be linear. But the true beauty of that game is when you go outside the story mode, and try your hand at time trials. It is quite simply ingenious in how it encourages players to find inventive ways to shave away those final fractions of a second. That game is definitely on my top five games of all time.

In other news, Crusader King 2 = crack.

I'm not a big fan of the 360 controller due to its bulkiness. Having battery packs/cords is lame. Overall, though, I can use both controllers pretty well.

Anyway, bought the Deus Ex games off Steam for $15.00 this weekend. Making my way through the first game right now, and so far it's been really fun.

It takes a bit of manoeuvring and I lose a bit of troops, but in the end I'm still king of the hill and no one really to challenge me. Then Ireland comes along. Their army isn't huge by any means, some three thousand men only. But I only have 2000 left after warring with my vassals. I've got money to spare, but there aren't any mercenaries available. I am proper fucked now.

And in this all, I start to think: "That Assad fellow, he's all right. I can relate to what he's going through."

Could you play that game on a laptop? If so, how would you make it play and run better? Would you get some sort of attachment/memory card or something? I'd surprise my wife with it as i'm sure she has played the other civilizations and has enjoyed them.

You can play anything on a laptop, depending on the laptop's specifications. XD


And there really isn't an easy way to make a laptop more powerful - adding RAM or changing the graphics card is a bitch, and there isn't some magic plug-in solution for that. But if you found out the specs, you could see whether/how well this laptop could run the game.

Depending on how atrocious the normal HDD is, possibly...but if an external HDD was going to be *that* much better than your internal one - enough so to see a noticeable change in gaming performance - your laptop probably doesn't have a good enough connection to do anything other than make things worse (because it would bottleneck at the USB port, basically). So theoretically, yes. Practically? No way in hell!

The key areas for gaming performance are, naturally, RAM, GPU (graphics card) and CPU. There is no way to get more of those without internal modifications which are a bitch to do on a laptop. I'm assuming this laptop is quite old and/or really low-power, and in either case you're screwed, I'm afraid.
