God of War is perhaps the best videogame. Period.

Anyone know if there's anything akin to what Myst was out there somewhere these days? Like, super complex, mostly realistic puzzle games?

The Myst guys made a similar game a couple of years ago called Obduction I think.

I realise it's not quite the same, but The Witness was amazing.

It's not your typical confrontation.

I see what you mean.

So, what's the best way to raise money for the Runesmith? I just gave him 10k in gold and he needs another 15k? I'm thinking I need to start Blood and Wine to raise enough cash.

If I recall correctly I never bothered with the runesmith. I was already so high lvl and so well kitted out I was a walking tank.

Runes aren't really that great, iirc, tbh.

By the time Hearts of Stone came out they tweaked the economy. Some materials used to sell for ridiculous amounts, but then they nerfed that and made sure vendors had limited cash... which kinda sucked, imho.

Once you start Blood and Wine, you're basically in that new map (which is like Velen + Novigrad in size), there's no real incentive to go back. You can, but it just feels so disjointed if you do.

You'll see what I mean.

Blood and Wine is amazing. Some of the best storytelling done on console.

If only the gameplay hadn't bored me to the point I dropped it, because yes, the story in that game was great, but as Yahtzee once said about the first and the endless repetition in quests THIS IS A MURMORPERGER.

Depends which ones you choose, I suppose. My Geralt's kitted out with Severance on both swords, which extends his reach with Whirl and Rend, which is great for wading into a group of enemies or taking on larger ones and stopping them getting anywhere near you, and Ignition on his armour, so using Igni on an enemy then sets any other enemies within a certain radius around that enemy on fire, too. I thought they were great fun.

I had a Griffin + Aard Build with Master armour increasing sign power by 200%. I just stunned + insta-killed all humans.

once you get to Blood + Wine and get the Aard= freeze mutation, things get even more ridiculously OP.

You guys make me want to dip back in. I stopped playing at the most ridiculous point - the ‘give the ghost a good time’ mission in Hearts of Stone. Such a great quest. I stopped without intending to, didn’t play for a long while, and now it’s probably too late to just dive back in again at the same point as I’ve forgotten how everything works.

I just started Breath of the Wild.

First impressions - probably shouldn't have put it on straight after Sekiro, as it seems more clunky than it would have otherwise, but... it's Zelda! I don't think any Zelda game I've ever played has been at the 'top' of whatever gen they've been released on, and it's style is totally different anyway so I don't think it's going to matter after an hour or so.

Just been running around seeing what I can climb, damage, pick up, and bash. Knocking those pig guys out of the frame with a new axe is satisfying so far! I'm like, I killed Isshin, fuckers! And then beating them about the head with a stick I knocked out of a tree. It would be so funny if for karmic reasons Sekiro was reincarnated as Link.

Ooh I have a pot-lid for a shield. Good times.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Keep an eye out for the little Forest spirits that hide everywhere. Koroks or what ever. You need them for certain upgrades.

Thanks, found one so far by accident; dived into a lake and there it was.

So far story and setting wise it seems uncannily similar to Horizon Zero Dawn - which is unfortunate because that game can't be topped in that regard.

There's so many creative ways you can take out groups of enemies in BotW it's ridiculous. So much fun Posted Image

Ohh yes. I'm just starting to really settle into this - and beginning to see the appeal. Not that I didn't believe it would be good, but a lot of rave reviews I've had or read are from people who have don't have other consoles, have never played the likes of HZD, and are also die hard Zelda fans.

So I was a little sceptical, and on first impression it does seems to be Zelda 'upgraded' to the non Nintendo console market; open world, 'towers' like AC, HZD, Farcry.

Last night something changed. Might have been when I realised I could shield surf down the mountain. Or when I stood by the broken fountain in front of the Temple of Time, and realised that I was standing where the town was in Ocarina.

Getting into the flow of finding new weapons to replace worn ones, and getting more inventive with the camps. The climbing is good, knocking trees down to make bridges is fun, and it's great that they finally replaced the main tools but have kept the structure that means you have to use certain ones to solve certain puzzles.

I may have to get a pro controller though, these joycons are killing me.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
